Hi everyone. Lots of people at the Countess at the moment! Everyone seems to be on slightly different treatments so it's hard to give timings. I was refered staight to IVI from gp. It probably took 9 months from my first appointment with ivi (which was an initial meeting then hycosy- never had a group meeting) until I started injections. But I put a couple of appointments back a month throughout that time because of work and holidays. And they wait 3 months after hycosy if there are no other issues found so that pushed everything back. I also found there were quite a few annoying appointments in the beginning just to fill paperwork.

In the end I had to freeze all so it was another couple of months until an embryo was transferred. I think they are quite keen on freeze all cycles there. They are running trials that they will probably ask you to sign up to do a freeze all cycle - I didn't but still ended up with one as they collected 21 eggs and their cut off is 20 in case you develop ohss.

I've found the staff there so fantastic through it all. They are also quick to return phone calls.

First transfer didn't work. Had second one last Sunday and just got my very first ever BFP this morning at 5 days post day 5 embryo transfer. Super super nervous as it's so early and I shouldn't have even tested until next Thursday, but even if this one doesn't work out, at least I know for the first time in 11 years that I can get pregnant!

Good look with all your journeys.

Flwr3 · 12/10/2018 22:29

Congratulations on your BFP, such exciting news! ☺️ X

@IcanMooCanYou fingers crossed for you. My FET appointments start next week.

crisps88 · 17/10/2018 00:19

Hi ladies. So glad to find this post. We too are trying to conceive and have been for a number of years. My thoughts are with you all.

We have been referred by our PCT to Countess of Chester and have a Patient Information Event at the end of the month.

Please please can I can have your advice about everything ?? What happens at the Group chat about it-does anything actually happen?? Does it lead to anything progressing?

I know the consultant said that IVF isn’t acted upon during November and December but I saw online about an 18 week waiting list? So many questions sorry I’d be so grateful for answers and or help and advice. How long does it take?

Thanks so much!! Much appreciated! And good luck to you all girls.

wanab · 17/10/2018 08:09

Hi @crisps88 the info eve tells you all you need to know about ivf as a general overview, the risks, general stats and differences with ICSI etc. You will be given all your consent forms to fill in ahead of the next appointment which usually is a couple of weeks or so later. When I had there was only 2 more appointments before I started. I guess you’ve had all the tests and been offered a treatment? But possibly not if you’ve just been referred.
There’s not really a waiting list at Chester. Though it was about 3 months from being accepted to starting for me.

crisps88 · 17/10/2018 18:24

Hey wanab thanks for replying. No we’ve just been referred, not too sure what Isci are and the difference between that as opposed to Ivf? Are they both routinely offered? I’m 30, Ttc 2 years and Mc 7 years ago.

I haven’t had any tests or been offered a treatment. We have obviously from our Gps, eg sperm and ovulation and all good. Is this after the meeting or do you wait for more appointments ? Weve been referred for funding for ivf but not sure if there’s a choice.

Sorry for question overload, there’s not too much info anywhere else nor from any letters etc so you never know what to expect.

When you say get accepted did you mean the referral or your consent forms signing at the PIE meeting? I hope everything is going well for you on your journey.

Sorry for questions as I say, any answers would be fantastic for this inpatient brain of mine!

Thanks in advance.

Hi just looking for a bit of information, we have just been for the info night at the countess, how long is it now till you actually start the treatment from the information night

crisps88 · 18/10/2018 11:00

How did you find the patient meeting? Any details would be great? 😊

Kayla7 · 18/10/2018 11:30

It was really interest, a lot to take in but your given all your legal documents, I’ve rang my nurse today as didn’t ask how long the follow up apt is an it’s not for another 4 weeks so won’t start treatment till after christmas now 😪😪

crisps88 · 18/10/2018 17:39

Aw I feel your frustration and upset. It’s anlong journey hey that’ll all be worth it. Fingers crossed. Our consultant told us initially ivf wouldn’t be doing much over November or December. So did they give you a timeline or next step or anything? Glad got people to chat to on our journey. X x

wanab · 18/10/2018 19:51

Hi @crisps88 ICSI is used if there’s a male problem. They individually inject a sperm in each egg instead of putting a few in the dish and letting them fight it out.

My tests were all done at the hospital after being referred. You may need to have an amh and a couple more blood tests etc. But maybe you’ve had them. After that they offered us ICSI treatment and that was the moment we’d officially ‘received funding’. All of this was prior to the info eve for us. Chester just accepts you if you meet the criteria then bills the ccg at the end rather than a formal application process.

We just had 2 appointments after info eve before we started treatment but you may need a couple more if you’ve literally just been referred to them.

It was 3 months for us from being offered the ICSI/getting funding, and starting drugs but we also had the info eve in that time. I would expect you to start around Feb or maybe March at the latest and that’s taking Christmas into account.

Good luck!

crisps88 · 18/10/2018 20:08

Thanks so much. Really is appreciated you know. And it’s nice to know there are people who are giving advice and willing to give their time.

We have only had tests at our GPs and then gave them to our consultant who noted them. It is an unexplained cause. So probably ivf I think after looking at the icsi.

I hope things are going well for you, how arr you finding it? It’s all daunting but feel so glad to be progressing with something to give us hope.

I will wait until I get some sort of concrete ideas and time frames to tell my boss at work.

Hope you are all well ladies and would be nice to hear all your experiences.

Lots of luck x

wanab · 18/10/2018 22:42

Bev10 · 02/11/2018 18:36

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting on any group. So good to find this one as we'll all be having treatment at the same place.
I have my first nurses appointment on 6th November, I'm provisionally booked in for egg collection on 5th December all being well.
Good luck to everyone 🤞

wanab · 02/11/2018 21:15

Welcome Bev, and good luck. :)

crisps88 · 03/11/2018 10:09

Bev welcome ! It’s so reassuring to have a group like this. can I ask when you had your patient information event ? And how quickly everything went? Just for a rough idea. Thanks and good luck x

Bev10 · 03/11/2018 10:40

Thanks wanab, thanks crisps88.
Yes sure we had the pie meeting towards the end of September and then the appointment with the doctor the following week. We took all the consent forms home to sign after the evening meeting and then went through them all at the appointment. We were given the go ahead to start on my next cycle. I had to ring up on day 1 and the nurses schedule you in. All pretty quick really once you have the information evening.
I found the waiting for a definite date the most stressful bit, knowing it's going to happen but not knowing exactly when.
It's good to talk to people who are feeling the same!
X

crisps88 · 03/11/2018 23:51

Thanks for your reply. Happy to speak to ladies in the same situation, there seems to be nothing worse than this ☹️

I hope our PIE will enlighten us and hopefully progress things. It seems you guys got moved pretty quickly, that’s fantastic news glad you got to get to the next stage. Fingers crossed we find it the same too!

Really hope you are all well and good luck to you all in our individual stages and persuits of a little one. Wishing everyone the best.

Xx

crisps88 · 11/11/2018 21:06
