Hi, when I went for my initial appointment with Preston Hospital they took my bloods and ultrasound.
When I went back for my next appointment they said that my AMH was low 3.2 and he would refer me to St Mary's, not sure if I will go there and they will do again, hopefully the AMH will increase, I have heard that sometimes another blood test shows different results..
where are you up to with the IVF? xx

crisps88 · 18/12/2018 22:00

That’s strange like how all AMH tests seem like a standard as to whether you qualify for IVF? The event just said to us it’s a choice but it will help the process with medications? There was people there from Preston referred. Maybe everyone’s FSH levels were ok there.

We have our first fertility appointment on 7th Jan, not too sure from there what happens. The nurse was saying depending on when in the cycle and some other tests it would start day 16. Not too much seems that clear I don’t know what to expect, to start that cycle or next or which!

Hope anything helps! It seems like an information minefield really, the lady I went to for acupuncture was really helpful as she is an IVF specialist.

Hi ladies. How’s everyone going any updates ?

I had my AMH results back they are 12.1, I know this is within normal range as I am 30. How does this compare with everyone else?

We have our first fertility appointment next Monday, I am so nervous. I feel like after Christmas I am so unprepared with my terrible eating and drinking and just anxious in general. I am a positive person so much, but this infertility is so easy to be worried and down about! I am excited and grateful for the opportunity but I am so many different emotions . Did anyone else have similar experiences of feelings?

Charliechalk123 · 29/12/2018 07:24

Hi, how are you feeling about the appointment next week? Do you know what they will discuss with you, you are one step ahead of me, we have been referred by Preston, just waiting for the referral appointment to come through, I will call them late next week if not heard anything.
There is a free information event on at Care in Manchester, I have booked on this for the 27th Jan, considering going private if it speeds up the process.
I want to start looking at other options and not become consumed by IVF for over 12 months. Although I am sure that is easier said than done xx

wanab · 29/12/2018 08:11

@crisps88 good luck. It will go quickly. Just remind me, have you had the info eve yet? If so you may be weeks away from starting. :) it's easy to be anxious but just take one step at a time, be positive, but be prepared that it may not work first time. It feels a lot of waiting and is a real rollercoaster, but keep focussed on the end result. The first round consumed life for me so now im just on frozen transfers I'm going to try not to let it in between appointments so much this time. You seem to have a good attitude. Xx

Bev10 · 29/12/2018 08:43

My amh was 12.8 so pretty much the same as yours @crisps88.
If you've had the info evening and filled in all the forms you get there, your next appointment should be to confirm your start date. I had a scan at that appointment (which i didnt know they were going to do). I presumed it was to check all was looking ok. Then i was abke to start my very next cycle. (Which was another 3 week wait!)
The whole thing feels like a waiting game, I tried to keep busy with work and see friends. I had told all my closest friends what was going on and I think that helped because I never had to hide anything.
We have now got a positive test and I am anxiously waiting for the 11th Jan to check all's ok with the first scan.
I have also continued to do relaxation and visualisation every day.
Good luck! X

crisps88 · 29/12/2018 09:08

@Bev10 good luck !!!! Amazing news I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you. I’ll be thinking of you 11th jan !! I think I may be similar to you in terms of timing, I’m scheduled for day 4-6 of cycle at my 1st appointment and am due to start day16 the ivf.

We have had pts info event, had acupuncture twice to begin the sessions and nutritionalist advice (that I haven’t heeded much)

I’ve spoken to our fertility department twice with questions about the first appointment, they’ve been brill , I think I’ll start the period after (February) as there’ll be a lot to fit in in the window of day 4-6 between day 16 eg injection teach etc.

First appointment I’ve been told by them that I’ll have a definitive plan and an ivf schedule so that’ll Be really good. Yes allconsent forms to be filled in etc.

I have told my mum, mother in law, two best friends but that’s it. It’s so hard isn’t it , I just pray I can learn and get inspiration from everyone and be positive is the big thing I’m hearing. But hey we’re humans and we want this so much.

Definitely think we can become all consumed and every part of my life I was almost reflecting and hating myself because what would this be like if we had a child, their grandparents are going to be older now, just everything and anything. But over Christmas I literally saw my niece and brothers and family every day just for some life affirmation!!

I really hope we all get what we deserve out of this and I am finding this group so helpful so I really thank you all. Xx

wanab · 03/01/2019 21:34

@Bev10 I'm in for a scan on 11th too. At 9.40. Mine is a scan ahead of my second natural FET hopefully the week after. Hope it all goes ok. X

Bev10 · 03/01/2019 22:50

Thanks @wanab, I hope all goes well for you too! X

crisps88 · 05/01/2019 10:43

Good luck ladies!!

@wanab fingers crossed for your transfer! @Bev10 I so hope the test and pregnancy is a success.

Our first fertility appointment is Monday 7th at our local hospital, which is good as it’s Close and we’re under a really nice consultant there.

Can I ask (I know it’ll seem a long time away), on your first appointment - where all the consent forms were filled etc) I know maybe a scan will take place. But do you get any blood tests or get weighed do you know?

Thanks ladies xxx

Bev10 · 05/01/2019 12:09

@crisps88 I didn't have have any bloods taken or get weighed at that appointment.
I'd already had all the blood tests prior to that appointment.
Good luck on Monday! X

crisps88 · 05/01/2019 14:30

Thanks ! I’ve had some bloods and been weighed but I literally haven’t had any tests, scans or much done before got referred and saw specialist.

Thank you! I’m Excited for it and also nervous. Good luck for the 11th ! X x

Bev10 · 07/01/2019 22:25

@crisps88 hope it all went ok for you today x

wanab · 07/01/2019 23:08

I transfer again on Sunday. Fingers crossed for a better outcome this time.

crisps88 · 08/01/2019 11:51

Hey @Bev10, thanks for asking! I was going to update yesterday but we went for a meal to celebrate.

I was on day 4 yesterday, and our specialist wants to start this cycle day 16! Eg not this Saturday, next Saturday 19th! Hes written us a letter detailing it all, then will start norethisterone Saturday if all well.

I’ve mentioned I didn’t have any other tests, just bloods so I need a scan for my tubes to check no fluid on so that’s next Tuesday and he’s put me in for a baseline scan and then scratch same day.

Can’t believe how fast everything has happened, this is only our second appointment (first after PIE) Hence why I seemed a little unsure of everything!

If there is an issue, it’d Be next cycle so either way we were so so so pleased.

I hope you are all well and anyone has any updates ? @wanab fingers crossed for you, hope these froZen transfers work well. And @bev10 Friday is an exciting day for you! X x

Bev10 · 08/01/2019 12:13

That's great news, I think once they have you in the system it all gets going pretty quick. Exciting times for you!
Feeling quite anxious about the scan on Friday, but trying to stay positive and hope everything is fine.
Good luck for your transfer on Sunday @wanab, I hope you can enjoy some rest and relaxation afterwards.
X

crisps88 · 08/01/2019 14:04

Have you tested again since or just keeping it to Friday? I bet it must be so nerve wracking for you. DId you have acupuncture ? It sounds like you’ve got it’s some good techniques and sooo got all fingers and crossed for you.

Bev10 · 08/01/2019 14:21

I've done about 10 tests 🙈 coz I still don't believe it.
No didn't do acupuncture, but i know its meant to be good for relaxation. I just listened to mediataion recordings everyday to help relax. I was lucky I could take time off work as I work for myself which I think helped calm me down x

crisps88 · 09/01/2019 05:47

Oh bless you!!!! I am so pleased for you and your partner, it’s amazing news. And the validation Friday will hopefully make it all real.

Oh so do you think time off helped? I asked on Monday what the specialialist and nurse thought about time off. They basically said it was personalised to everyone, most times it distracts you which is good but main thing is to not be stressed out. So I feel I would rather be off. They said at least 2-3 days for collection for the discomfort. How long did you take off after the transfer? That’s helpful isn’t it that you could presumably tailor your work at home?

Excited for you!!!!! 10+ tests ! Grin X

wanab · 09/01/2019 07:45

After transfer last time I went back to work but was more careful with lifting boxes etc and made sure to drink plenty. It kept me distracted until I got period symptoms day 8. This time I planned to do the same bridge holiday left from last year I have had to use do have transfer day and 2 more off.

wanab · 09/01/2019 07:46

Sorry but have holiday...

Bev10 · 09/01/2019 08:48

Yeh I think it helped because I was ablento just to focus on what we were doing and being a healthy as possible. Making sure I ate regularly and well, which I don't always do when I'm busy working.
I rested on the sofa for the day of the transfer and the following day then just did nice things like meeting friends. My job is a fitness instructor so I took the whole time off.
Ultimately though I think whatever you do won't make any difference to the outcome, to just have to do what feels right for you.
Good luck! X

crisps88 · 09/01/2019 18:07

Not long for transfer and scan day ladies, such a big day for you both. I am sending lots of positive thoughts and energy!!

I got my provisional date for egg collection 15th February (assuming scan goes ok Tuesday) Wow everything is seeming very real! I am super excited! Quite glad I feel like I went into quite naive and not at all expecting to be offered ivf so soon or how rapidly it’s progressed which I think has helped as I haven’t had time to stress as Much!

Plus I told my boss(friend) today and he was so supportive and happy for us both. So I think I’ll play it by ear see how feel that’s good advice. As you say, you could plan perfectly and still the outcome is individual so true!

Hope you two can get some sort of rest and relaxation during this time for You both!

X xx

wanab · 09/01/2019 18:25

Thanks all. Hoping for good news this time.

crisps88 · 09/01/2019 19:06

@wanab lots of positive thoughts. At least this time you know what to expect ? And really hope things go well xxx
