@PennyBC26 Hope you don't mind the thread intrusion - can I ask about the transfer costs? £2000 for a transfer - is that the whole process including scans and other appointments or just the transfer? Is a scratch/glue extra? I'm clueless about private costs and they have my frozen embryos.

Congratulations @wanab and @ivfjourney5! My fingers are crossed for your FET @PennyBC26 Flowers

PennyBC26 · 01/02/2021 18:08

@Yokey of course, no problem! The £2000 includes the lining scan and the transfer. It doesn't include meds, the scratch or any add ons such as the embryo glue. We paid for the scratch for our second transfer, when I asked if I needed it again for the third, they said that they no longer suggest it due to new research. Also, I asked them about them embryo glue and they said the same. I've done care maps this time, hoping that helps!xx

Yokey · 01/02/2021 18:52

Oh wow, I only had my first IVF end of 2019 and they recommended both embryo glue and the scratch. I guess if their success rates haven't dropped it may not have added anything.

Thanks very much, and again, I really hope your FET works... on your fourth transfer your turn is definitely overdue! 🤞x

PennyBC26 · 01/02/2021 19:55

@Yokey Thank you! Fingers crossed for you too, I think every time a new bit of research comes in they just seem to go with it. Let's hope it's a BFP for us soon! 🙏xx

ivfjourney5 · 01/02/2021 20:34

@PennyBC26 good luck for the upcoming FET! I'm glad they've told you that about the embryo glue, I thought they were fobbing me off with that excuse after they forgot to use it when I had already paid for it a few months ago

PennyBC26 · 01/02/2021 20:54

@ivfjourney5 Thank you! I'll keep you posted! We put so much trust in the clinic and believe what they tell us, just hope what they advise me works! xx

Is anyone else currently with Care at Chester? I'm finding it such a mental strain and I'm only on my first round (had egg collection 3 days ago).

PennyBC26 · 10/04/2021 19:02

@CurbsideProphet Yes, I am. I've been with them for about three years. It's all very overwhelming but I have found them to be very good. I had my first ever positive 6 weeks ago but unfortunately ended up as a bio chemical pregnancy. Hoping to have another transfer in June x

wanab · 10/04/2021 19:16

Sorry to hear that @PennyBC26. :(

I've just had my little one a month ago after 6 attempts. Good luck @CurbsideProphet xx

Yokey · 10/04/2021 19:31

Oh @PennyBC26, I'm so sorry Flowers Just awful to get a BFP after so long only for it to be snatched away. I really hope your June transfer is successful 🤞

Congrats @wanna! (Six attempts! Well done)

@Curbsideprophet the whole process is exhausting. How did your collection go?

CurbsideProphet · 10/04/2021 22:56

@PennyBC26 so sorry to read that 💐

@wanab thank you, congratulations 🙂 it's lovely to read success stories.

@Yokey 5 eggs collected from 5 follicles on the right ovary (low AMH and I'm 35, presuming my left ovary doesn't actually do anything) on Wednesday. 2 fertilised. 1 is looking decent at grade 2 but still 50/50 whether it will get to Monday. The other has stalled. Regretting the update calls and "Care Maps" as I don't know if it would be better to be in ignorant bliss. I was awake from 6am today worrying and waiting for the day 3 update call.

I do feel like it's taken over my whole life. I've had to sign myself off work while I'm going through egg collection and possible transfer as it's too much. As Care Chester are in a hospital I have to isolate (though DH doesn't) and I think not even going for a walk is really impacting my mental health.
I don't want to see anyone, I just want to put my earphones in and walk off the adrenalin / cortisol. So instead I was out turning over the flowerbed for an hour today just for something to do 😬

Yokey · 11/04/2021 07:20

@CurbsideProphet it absolutely does take over and it's all you can think about. That's true even when you're not forced to isolate so it's perfectly understandable that your mental health is suffering. The uncertainty about whether there'll be anything to transfer must be very difficult. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your embryo 🤞 Let us know how it goes.

wanab · 11/04/2021 07:47

Fingers crossed your little embryo is a fighter. Xx

PennyBC26 · 11/04/2021 12:22

@wanab Awwww a month old! I hope you are both doing well. @CurbsideProphet I hope you are doing ok, I've really struggled the last few weeks, it's just such a roller coaster! We chose to use Care Maps too. Our consultant suggested PGTA testing as our next step but we decided against it; I was scared they would accidentally discard of a good one! xx

CurbsideProphet · 12/04/2021 18:55

We had 1 viable embryo ❤️
Long 11 days for me now!

Yokey · 12/04/2021 20:45

Oh yay! Good luck! Keeping everything crossed for you and your little embryo🤞
CurbsideProphet · 13/04/2021 07:34

Thank you @Yokey 🙂
I had Mr Wood for egg collection and embryo transfer. He was so nice. When I read posts from earlier in this thread I saw that posters were really happy with him, so I was very glad he did both of my procedures.

CurlyWurlyTwos · 09/09/2021 20:53

@wanab - I haven't been on the thread for a while but recognise your name from a while ago!

Congratulations on pregnancy - I'm so pleased forward you!

wanab · 09/09/2021 22:21

wanab · 29/06/2022 16:38

Hi @crisps88. Yes we are good thanks. My girl is 15 months now 😯. We had a family holiday to Norfork last week. She's a very smiley and generally very chilled little girl. We are very lucky. How is life going for you?

PennyBC26 · 02/09/2024 14:12

Hi all, not sure if anyone still checks on here...but I just wanted to let you know that I had a boy! He'll be three weeks tomorrow. It was our last embryo and he stuck around! Hope all is well with everyone x

wanab · 02/09/2024 18:56

That’s awesome @PennyBC26. 😍
How is everyone?
Lizzie starts preschool on Thursday at Woodlands E. Port. She has done a year at nursery already though. X
