Top of the waiting list appointment

DH and I have been TTC just over 3 years now. We've had all the preliminary workup done at our small local hospital (HSG, scans, bloods, SA) followed by 6 months of clomid, which didn't work.

At our last post-clomid followup appointment in July we were told the next stage would be referral to James Cook for assisted conception and that we should call them to make an appointment.

When I called, we were immediately offered an appointment for the end of August. I assumed it would be some sort of booking-in/eligibility check and we would then get put on a waiting list for treatment. But i've had all the documents through in the post now, and it turns out it is our 'top of the waiting list' appointment! I'm now a bit excited at the thought that this may all be happening sooner than I thought, but also worried that there has been some kind of mistake/misunderstanding. Are waiting lists not as long as I thought now? Does anyone know how quickly I am likely to move onto treatment? Or what the likely sequence of events will be?

Aww well I don’t mind if things start to move faster now. Well the doctors wouldn’t refer until I’d lost weight (BMI 30) even though we had tests that showed my husband had a low sperm count. This was January 2019. Then March 2020 I’d lost the weight and then doctors referred us. Didn’t get seen until January this year due to Covid. BMI was 30.2 but he approved it on the basis I lose it for my next appointment. When is the last time you get weighed? Honestly I’m back on a strict diet again until august. I can’t wait anymore! I think we will get icsi too. He mentioned that during our telephone appointment. Where are you in the process?

It will move fast after your August appointment. We were recommend proxeed from hospital and my partners stuff has massively improved our next round we doing half icsi and half ivf because his stuff improved that much it expensive but worth it . I am four years in. One year trying naturally. One year under fertility clinic a year waiting for ivf. Then starting ivf and covid delaying. Then one failed round of IVF. Last Monday was about to start second round of IVF and my scan reveled my womb lining to thick so IVF delay again and on different meds to get womb right. It a massive waiting game wishing life away. Your constantly on a massive rolla coster many ups and downs xxx

I know this post is old, but I feel its rhe most relevant.

After our initial appointment, we have had investigations previously and tikd me to need ICSI due to MF. I had AMH blood test and due to have a scan on the 19th July. Today I have received an telephone appointment for the 31st July.

At JCH. We had our TOWL appointment early last month. Signed everything, had to go back as they had forgot to do folical scan. They pushed treatment start dates through as we've been waiting over 14 month due to BMI. I have a telephone appointment with admin in 2 days time which apparently well get treatment start dates. All I know is we are doing short protocol and ICSE. Period is due this weekend. I've seen people say that on next period they have the appointment with nurse for injections etc. Hopefully they don't make me wait for another period. Any advice? Petrified, nervous, anxious and excited all rolled into one. 9 previous miscarriages.

I now have a 17th month old after my second round of IVF… I was terrified at the thought of injections but actually they are nothing - they’re fine and you get used to them really quickly!
we’re now considering going private to try for baby number 2 x
