Top of the waiting list appointment

DH and I have been TTC just over 3 years now. We've had all the preliminary workup done at our small local hospital (HSG, scans, bloods, SA) followed by 6 months of clomid, which didn't work.

At our last post-clomid followup appointment in July we were told the next stage would be referral to James Cook for assisted conception and that we should call them to make an appointment.

When I called, we were immediately offered an appointment for the end of August. I assumed it would be some sort of booking-in/eligibility check and we would then get put on a waiting list for treatment. But i've had all the documents through in the post now, and it turns out it is our 'top of the waiting list' appointment! I'm now a bit excited at the thought that this may all be happening sooner than I thought, but also worried that there has been some kind of mistake/misunderstanding. Are waiting lists not as long as I thought now? Does anyone know how quickly I am likely to move onto treatment? Or what the likely sequence of events will be?

I'm not sure if it's true or not but I've heard only one person is allowed into hospital appointments. So now I'm wondering what will happen for egg collection and transfer? IVF for us and for pretty much the majority is a journey for both of us not just one or the other. Will be so disappointing if the other half couldn't be there for those important appointments 😕 x

Nope I think I have completely skipped this cycle 😂 I haven't tested no because it's not uncommon for my cycle not to arrive with having PCOS. I should apparently be in my fertility window now and I've had some discharge so I think I probably am and that last cycle never existed 🙄 have you had your phone call yet? Xx

Absolutely hate missing one too because the one after are really heavy 😫 tbf I hating waiting around during lockdown but this delay is a abit of a relief because since being booked back in I've done nothing but worry about injecting, egg collection and ohss more so now I've heard that they're only allowing one person in, not sure if it's true or not but with cases rising in Middlesbrough I wouldn't be surprised 🤦‍♀️ xx

Just same as they said when they rang but on paper now. Ring on 30th of this month if period comes has yours showed yet ? we have to book for 1 hours meeting which my partner allowed in show how to injected . They did say he not allowed to rest scans and bloods and that. Then we start injecting 27th of October egg collection around 16 of November xxx

Exciting times ey! Nope still awol, I took a test the other day just to make sure and that was negative so it's definitely just a missed period which isn't anything new so I'm not stressing about it and with my dates being booked around my next one anyway I'm just hoping my next one behaves 😂 I spoke to someone else who is at James Cook she said they're encouraging us to go alone for the bloods and scans but partners are allowed in for collection and transfer which is brilliant! They never said anything about booking an appointment for injections though 🤷‍♀️ x

Oh that’s good, my appointment on the 1st is the injection teach again which I understand but it’s a waste of time because I remember how to do it, I’ll start my injections that night too x

Hopefully when my period comes and I give them a ring to organise a blood test they'll let me know about that then. Do all blood tests need to be done there or can it be a local hospital and results sent to them? What meds are you going to be on? X

Anyone had their top of the waiting list appointment recently at James Cook? What happens next? How long do you wait until the process begins? Feel like I’ve been waiting ages!

The appointment in August will be to decide what happen next with yiu and your partner they go through all test and decide on your course of treament and next steps. ours was IVF with isci so we signed all paper work . From that appointment everything seems to move quickly then it has done. But this infertility is one big waiting game. How long you been on this road xxx @JuJu234
