Top of the waiting list appointment

DH and I have been TTC just over 3 years now. We've had all the preliminary workup done at our small local hospital (HSG, scans, bloods, SA) followed by 6 months of clomid, which didn't work.

At our last post-clomid followup appointment in July we were told the next stage would be referral to James Cook for assisted conception and that we should call them to make an appointment.

When I called, we were immediately offered an appointment for the end of August. I assumed it would be some sort of booking-in/eligibility check and we would then get put on a waiting list for treatment. But i've had all the documents through in the post now, and it turns out it is our 'top of the waiting list' appointment! I'm now a bit excited at the thought that this may all be happening sooner than I thought, but also worried that there has been some kind of mistake/misunderstanding. Are waiting lists not as long as I thought now? Does anyone know how quickly I am likely to move onto treatment? Or what the likely sequence of events will be?

No she didn't mention anything about isolating but did say to call when my next period starts so that the nurses would go into more detail with me. She did mention when my period starts I'd need a day 1 and day 4 blood test so I'll have to go in either way and that I would be shown how to inject so maybe they'll show me when I go in for my bloods 🤷‍♀️ have you two still not heard anything else? X

She did say that everyone who had treatment dates booked in would be the first people the contact so hopefully it's soon for you both 🤞 I will let you know exactly what they say to me when I do ring on the first day of my period though x

There must be quite a few they're contacting as she did say she was working through a folder of people so fingers crossed use hear back this week. How long have use been having fertility treatment for? We were referred from the local ACU to the IVF unit as urgent since we had already been trying for 2 years unsuccessfully before even being referred to the ACU then was with them for around 3 years. X

I have to ring them on Wednesday when I’ve had my bloods done so I’m assuming that’s the next time I’ll hear from them and hopefully will just go from there.. we’ve been trying 3.5 year now... we we’re referred to the ivf clinic just short of a year ago, quite annoying to think I could have been 5 month pregnant now if the last cycle wasn’t stopped!

Yeah hopefully 🤞 what is the reason for your infertility? Mines PCOS, all of his test results have came back fine so it's just me and my broken ovaries 😂 x

“Unexplained” which is a nightmare lol... but then I’ve had a few things back borderline “but ok” lol... yea my partners test results all came back better than normal :’)

Hi ladies we been trying for 3 years now my parner has low everything on yest but workable. I am told I have pco but not pcos so I have lots of foilices at once hoping the metaformin helps with that had no phone call yet can wait for it xxx

I had a nightmare with my bloods... my surgery couldn’t do ts3 tests, need to ring back today to make sure my bloods arrived at James cook so they could request The test, otherwise I’ll need my bloods doing again by James cook! Stressed me out lol... ringing to check within the next hour

Got my bloods sorted and they’re putting me on thyroxin... an hour later got a call to book dates so have to ring next week when my period starts for a blood test with looking at doing egg collection the end of October... hopefully you will both here soon! X

I was booked in for 20th of April, I'm now booked in for the week commencing 12th of October simply because they were preparing for the worst but hoping for the best, my period should of started last weekend which meant I'd of been a week too early for the treatment restart date so they planned the dates off my period after this one but now I'm late they said my egg collection date will be moved forward so I'm just hoping it holds off until atleast Monday and not over the weekend. X

@Hoping1 yes and it still is 🤦‍♀️ I rang them yesterday asking what I will do because I have literally nothing to indicate it's coming like I normally do, they haven't rang back yet so god knows what's happening 🤷‍♀️ have you heard anything yet? X

Keep on at them! I know they'll be busy but they told me as lockdown eased that everyone who was booked in for treatment would be contacted first before anyone else on the list. They still haven't called me back since Monday so I'll probably give them a quick ring tomorrow and see what they say. My luck is terrible! Period starts when it should then lockdown, treatment restarts and my period has gone AWOL 🤦‍♀️😂 x
