Top of the waiting list appointment

DH and I have been TTC just over 3 years now. We've had all the preliminary workup done at our small local hospital (HSG, scans, bloods, SA) followed by 6 months of clomid, which didn't work.

At our last post-clomid followup appointment in July we were told the next stage would be referral to James Cook for assisted conception and that we should call them to make an appointment.

When I called, we were immediately offered an appointment for the end of August. I assumed it would be some sort of booking-in/eligibility check and we would then get put on a waiting list for treatment. But i've had all the documents through in the post now, and it turns out it is our 'top of the waiting list' appointment! I'm now a bit excited at the thought that this may all be happening sooner than I thought, but also worried that there has been some kind of mistake/misunderstanding. Are waiting lists not as long as I thought now? Does anyone know how quickly I am likely to move onto treatment? Or what the likely sequence of events will be?

Have you rang @Nattx any good news today xxxx

Yeah rang them earlier and they basically said the estimated start date for frozen is 2 weeks and 3 months for fresh. Told me to ring back on my August cycle if I've not heard nothing by then for an update so it's going to be this year if everything keeps going the way it is regarding the virus x

Yeah it does help having an estimated time frame now but after waiting so long already 3 months does feel like a long time but I suppose it give us time to prepare ourselves! X

I usually rely on Slimming World to help shift the weight but it's all virtual and no weigh ins at the minute and although I know the plan it just isn't the same so it's proving difficult for me to stick to it! What do you girls do to shift it/keep it off? Xx

Same slimming world! I’ve never been to groups though I always do it from home, I was doing couch to 5k too and got to week 7 and came on and was furious so it went out the window 😂🙈
My problem is I have a really sweet tooth, I’d go as far as to say a sugar addiction!

Nope not a sausage! Guess that means you haven’t either, I had a positive ovulation test the other day, not getting my hopes up like I usually do! My boyfriend keeps telling me off for pinning all my hopes on IVF so we have to keep trying 🙄🤣 Still going to call when my next period comes!

Hi ladies rang clinic on Friday they were very unhelpful. They said they only got go ahead for limited number of FET on Thursday. I said do you have plan for fresh they said no seeing how this goes and to ring back in 4 weeks time. The waiting is getting harder i understand why they have to be very careful as we not out if woods with covid. I just wish they were more engaging with us and contact us telling us what going on instead of us chasing them. Everyone's seems to be back on their journey apart from all of us xxx

I rang yesterday and was told they had just been given the go ahead to start frozens for Friday... whether she ment tomorrow or last Friday I’m not sure! I think she ment tomorrow... She said they need to submit a risk assessment to the board to start fresh which they are hoping to do very soon, I’m going to stop calling them and just wait for them to call me now x

Hi love they said to me to call in 4 weeks but may have to ring sooner as I need more tablets that they give me fingers crossed we all start soon xxxx

I haven't bothered ringing them back since the last time I rang nor have I heard anything else off them either. I can understand that they're awaiting on answers the same as us but could be abit more helpful in regards to keeping us all informed rather than telling one person one thing and another thing to someone else, not at all helpful! It seems that everywhere else are now in full swing of all treatments regardless of the virus and JC are lacking behind. At first you can be understanding and patient because the situation was completely out of everyones hands but when there is no information given after waiting so long to start with and seeing other clinics going full steam ahead it does get rather irritating. Hopefully we have more answers soon but it doesn't seem likely the way things are going at the minute! 😔
