i have been trying for a second baby for 2 years with no luck (it took 12 months with DS - he's now 3.8). i've just been referred by my dr to an infertility clinic, as he thinks i'm probably not ovulating (tests have not shown anything else up). anyone else out there had an experience of this? think the next steps will be a hycosy and then clomid, any tips or advice on what to ask at the appointment much appreciated!
anyone else out there struggling with the thought of a growing age gap and sadness that their DS might not have another sibling? also feeling that we're getting further and further away from the 'baby stage', it seems so long ago.
also the process of infertility appointments seems so long! we've already been in the system months having the gp appointments and still not got the hospital date.
anyone else feel like this?

laptop girl, great we can keep each other sane! I was a bit teary already yesterday - found out an nct friend who moved away has just had her third. she's the second one from our group to have three. somehow it really got to me yesterday .
good luck with your hsg, I had one of those. i'm sure it will help you to know if it's all clear (or evn if it's not, it's better to know what you're really dealing with).
fingers crossed for us both this month.

My friend announced her third a few months ago. All three of hers are younger than my little man. I found it so hard but I stepped away for a few weeks and now I'm happy for her, it's hard but I try to remember we all have things in life we want. What are those people wishing was different?

I'm dreading the clomid tears - I get so emotional. My poor DH! WinkWink

mumtosammy · 09/07/2015 10:38

thanks, glad I'm not the only one with these bitter feelings. my ds is starting school in September and that's definitely playing a role. it feels like such a milestone.

how is everyone doing? hope your Clomid tears have not been too bad laptop. i'm feeling a bit better now on day 9. hope everyone else is doing alright at the moment.

Hi everyone,

Been a while. Welcome to the newcomers - sorry you find yourselves here.

Well we have our appointment at the fertility clinic today. Having read through the letter properly, it seems that this will be an initial chat rather than the actual procedure. Good job too, as AF arrived this morning about 3 days late. Negative HPT last night, so feeling utterly shit (not unusual these days it seems). Seems my body decided to ovulate late this month (CD16 compared to last month's CD12) and then added a day or two to my LP (17 looong days!) - just to add to the torture Sad

Not expecting anything groundbreaking today really, so want to get it over and done with. Could really do without it TBH, prefer to lick my wounds quietly on CD1.

mumtosammy - I feel your pain re. the school starting. DD's nursery leaver's assembly and school induction is not doing my mental health any favours Sad

PipAndPosey · 14/07/2015 08:41

Good luck with your appointment Henrycocoa... I've had a few of these "initial chats" now!

I'm just waiting to see how our third month of Clomid has gone... Not feeling pg at 9dpo so not holding out too much hope!

Then I guess I'll be back to the GP for three more months' of clomid, and perhaps back to fertility clinic for some investigations on my tubes. Then we need to decide about IVF. Fun fun fun...

mumtosammy · 14/07/2015 08:48

henrycocoa, good luck with your appointment today, hope it goes ok. Sorry to hear about AF arriving. hope your DS's school induction is going ok. the headmistress said to me at one meeting 'have you got any more at home? no, oh well it's like a whole new life for you now as well then'. i had to swallow hard at that point. Problem is, i don't have anything to move on to...
PipandPosey, fingers crossed for your 3rd month being a success. if it helps, the month i got my bfp on clomid back in March, i didnt feel pg at all, it was a total shock.
is everyone else being monitored on clomid? I got a 21 day blood test the first two months, but since the MC they're just leaving me to it... feels a bit wierd. the logic is that it worked for me at 100mg so they're leaving me on that.

OP posts:
PipAndPosey · 14/07/2015 10:46

I'm not being monitored at all on clomid, they just left me to it. That said, we had some tests done recently at my initial appointment at the Bridge Clinic. They were pretty positive really: my AMH score was unchanged from four years ago, and my follicle count has gone UP! So in 2011 I had 3 on one side, 4 on the other and now I have 8 and 10! Really heartened to think that if we do do IVF I might get a good egg collection.

henrycocoa · 14/07/2015 13:11

mumtosammy, I am trying to see it as a new start. I have a small online business which has been sorely neglected recently, so I am trying to look forward to that through the tears

I do find that the looming school term is just a reminder that we should have a nearly-2yo (MMC in Spring 2013, trying ever since) Sad

Well, the appointment wasn't anything ground-breaking. As expected. And had the added bonus of a waiting room full of pregnant couples. So that was nice.

I have bloods lined up (again, my last ones were August last year). The nurse was patronising and told me she would be 'very surprised' if my LP was 15/16 days as everyone's is fixed at 14 days. My 4 years of temperatures tell a different story. So that misinformation from a health practitioner who should know better made me quietly furious Angry

But I now have a number to ring for an HSG. The problem is that we will be on holiday during CD5-10 next cycle, so that won't be done until September Sad And we have an appointment to see the consultant in October. Feeling shit, but that's par for the course on CD1, is it not?

Congrats on those blood results pip. Fingers crossed this is your month Smile

mumtosammy · 14/07/2015 14:29

henrycocoa - sorry to hear about your frustrating time with the nurse. i agree, that's definitely not right. the whole point is that we're all different and the '28 day cycle' doesnt apply in many cases at all.
i had similar frustrations with my hsg timing, just when i really wanted to get things moving.
Sorry to hear about your MC. i can totally understand how you must feel about it as time goes past.
pipandposey, that's good news about your results, fingers crossed if you've got that as a base to work from!

Day 2 and feeling much better. Although I have had a strange period - lost a flat walnut-sized piece of tissue yesterday and a little more this morning. I know it wasn't a clot, because it didn't dissolve in water and it felt quite tough and spongy. Sorry, is a bit grim. Never seen that before.

I also flooded overnight. A little worried if I am honest. Hopefully just a random bit of lining and my uterus will be lovely and fresh for next cycle Confused

Anyone ever had this?

PipAndPosey · 15/07/2015 14:32

Hey Henrycocoa - I had a wierd period a few months ago (before starting clomid) - it came around day 21, and I had several hours of HUGE clots coming out. Not sure if they were tissue or just blood clots but i have never experienced anything like that before! Docs think it was maybe a chemical pregnancy but I never had a BFP so not sure myself...
Hugs xx

henrycocoa · 16/07/2015 22:19

Well, I guess we'll never know Pip. Maybe it has even happened before, but I was not so eagle-eyed. Damn this TTC madness.

Acupuncture tomorrow. Hoping it will relax me. I am officially giving up hope until I have an HSG some time in September ask me again in about 3 weeks. Sometimes I hate being an optimist Sad

Laptopgirl · 16/07/2015 23:39

Hello ladies!

Hope everyone is doing OK and feeling a bit brighter.

I had my HSG on Tuesday the procedure was OK. A bit uncomfortable but not too bad. After wards I had pain but it eased with pain relief. Hopefully it brings some magic with it. ????????????

Are we heading in to BDing 'time' together again mummy2sammy?

mumtosammy · 17/07/2015 09:25

hi laptopgirl, yes it looks like it! I'm on day 13, how about you? glad the hsg went ok.
i hope everyone's doing ok. i'm feeling so much better. the clomid hit me really hard this month, day 4-9 seems to be the bad time for me on it but then it stops really suddenly and i feel alright again.
is anyone else trying anything extra - i've got my DH eating walnuts each day!

OP posts:
henrycocoa · 17/07/2015 09:56

Pleased your HSG went well laptop. I take it everything looked normal.

I have DH on a Men's conception vitamin and Zita West's vital DHA. But we're away a couple of times over the summer, so our healthiness will probably go out of the window!

Laptopgirl · 18/07/2015 07:24

We use pre-seed - not sure if it's something you use or want to look into? As an extra help towards our goal.

We are same cycle day MummytoSammy. See you in the two week wait! Eeeeeeeeeek! Just waiting for my positive tests now.

PipAndPosey · 18/07/2015 07:44

Coming to the end of 2ww here - CD25. Normally AF is due now, but the Clomid has lengthened my cycle slightly to 28 days.

Yesterday - symptom spotting alert - I noticed in my bra that my nipples both had this wierd crusty discharge on them. Never noticed that before! I had earlier been swimming though? What do you think?

henrycocoa · 18/07/2015 08:32

Oooh, Pip, crusty nipples sound promising Grin

We've used Preseed before laptop, but more often than not we have morning sex which sometimes doesn't lend itself well to additional lube! Will be back on the guanefesin this cycle though. 3 x 5ml spoonfuls a day to thin out CF.

mumtosammy · 20/07/2015 11:56

Pip, i had that when preg with DS. fingers crossed, any news yet?
Laptop, yes we use a similar thing called Conceive Plus. have you had your positive OPK yet? i'm not great with OPKs, i'm using them this month to try to get an idea if the clomid's working, since they're not monitoring me, but i havent had a positive yet.
does anyone else find them to be reliable? i've never had much luck with them and dont really trust them. i just have the cheap ones... any tips welcome.

PipAndPosey · 21/07/2015 07:21

It's another BFN from us in afraid... Starting IVF soon, after we get back from summer holidays...
No tips on OPKs I'm afraid Mumtosammy - apart from I always started testing much later in my cycle, to save money! X

mumtosammy · 21/07/2015 08:46

pipandposey, really sorry to hear about the BFN. hope you're doing ok and being kind to yourself today.
good luck with starting the IVF, have you got a clinic lined up already?
xx

OP posts:
PipAndPosey · 21/07/2015 13:54

Thanks Mumtosammy. Yes I'm with the Bridge centre by London Bridge which is very local to me and I've been happy with them through the testing... Fingers crossed! X

Laptopgirl · 22/07/2015 09:01

Sorry to read your news pipandposey

I hope this next cycle brings your dream xxx

mumtosammy · 22/07/2015 18:52
