Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

Have I imagined it or was it someone from the caravan site who “found” the dog? If it was it is a bit of a coincidence that they own the only route away from the river that isn’t covered by cctv.

I'm sure that's what was said at the start. A woman who owned the site

I am going to report this thread due to the speculation . The comments on here are horrible. Of course she hasn't walked away from children.

You can't say that because you don't know as none of us know.

itsnote · 07/02/2023 11:11

"Re Facebook - it is quite likely that her family / friends / facebook have made her account private since she disappeared."

Thousands of (very strange and thoughtless) people have commented on her Facebook page since she went missing. I heard about her disappearance very quickly on the Friday and searched for her to see if I recognised her (I'm local). Her Facebook posts were exactly as they are now.

TheUsualChaos · 07/02/2023 11:12

Agree about PF, he may be excellent at what he does and well meaning but the conflicting comments don't seem helpful in terms of stirring up public speculation.

I suspect she will be found further up river and the bench is a red herring.

crocusfocus · 07/02/2023 11:13

@Notallaboutthemoney I know , I can't stop thinking about it. It is so deeply disturbing as it is also so relatable- just a mum going about her daily life.

I cannot imagine the pain and turmoil the family is going through. I am so sad for them.

Peverellshire · 07/02/2023 11:13

@ThisOrdinaryLife you could well be on right lines, a gully close to banks? Or similar.

Surely most likely she’s tragically fallen in & dog hasn’t seen & someone innocently tied dog & placed phone on nearest bench.

Likelihood is wherever she fell wasn’t immediately by the bench.

Surely if, as I suspect, camping pod area closest to bench, it should be searched just to eliminate?

itsnote · 07/02/2023 11:14

The search teams on the first day also searched one mile upstream. It's not the first time that stretch has been searched.

Peverellshire · 07/02/2023 11:15

@TheUsualChaos agree. It is just unimaginably shocking @crocusfocus the family must be utterly bewildered & heartbroken.

crocusfocus · 07/02/2023 11:15

@Togoodtobeforgotten yes I can.

She has not left her children voluntarily. Of course she hasn't . Why the hell would she. The incidence of a woman leaving her two young children out of the blue like that and fake a death is statistically almost zero. FACT.

It is a stupid conspiracy theory - like flat earthers, covid deniers and vaccine sceptics.

Togoodtobeforgotten · 07/02/2023 09:47

See thinking about it logically say she was going to harm herself then it wouldn't have mattered whever she had her mobile or not. If she's not in the river I still think the window of time is way to small for foul play. So therefore the only other conclusion is she has walked away and the mobile was used as a decoy.

I think this is sadly becoming a possibility

According to the police it was all searched along with the house that was spoken about.

Doing a ‘canoe man’ &/or trying to achieve a ‘new life’ is almost impossible in practice.

Most will fall at first hurdle & will be discovered almost immediately.

I must admit, a Fargo/Canoe man scenario did come into my mind when I saw the 100k GFM.

Someone on another forum mentioned Shannon Matthews.

The "expert" is being completely unprofessional and I'd imagine the police are not at all pleased. Reporting what they have / haven't found is one thing, speculating about third parties etc and going on any TV programme asking suggests he is enjoying the publicity.

You don't know what is going on in someone's life no matter how well you think you know them the fact is none of us know.

@kirinm agree. He is overstepping his role and being very unwise

Peverellshire · 07/02/2023 11:20

@Togoodtobeforgotten good news, I heard only unoccupied dwellings could be legally searched? Not sure if case. Am sure they are being as thorough as possible especially in circumstances.

Peverellshire · 07/02/2023 11:21

@crocusfocus you’d think he was being briefed & advised by police? Especially as collaborated with police quite commonly?

crocusfocus · 07/02/2023 11:22

@Togoodtobeforgotten

I do know it is so statistically rare compared to other possibilities for a mother to do that I would not risk the pain and hurt it may cause by speculation on a Public fora.

Statistically the likelihood is negligible. But the chances you will upset and offend is very high. So why do it?

Return2thebasic · 07/02/2023 11:26

skingraft · 07/02/2023 11:10

Just been reading the latest stuff... should the diving expert really be speculating so publicly?? 😳 He’s quoted speculating about a 3rd party, asking husband if she has any stalkers or enemies :/ Doesn’t come across well and I wonder how the police feel with him saying all of this.

I really hope there’s answers soon. I often think of Claudia Lawrence and how she seemed to vanish into thin air, and that her poor dad passed away without knowing what happened to her.

He said way too much. Not appropriate. He's not police, but trying to portrait himself better informed than them.

I don't know you just don't know what goes on in people's minds, my gut at first was with the police and that she was in the river but given what this expert is saying and how much the river and the bank's have been searched and given how quickly the police were onto it and searching it just does not make sense at all any if it.

You don’t know that at all. I have a friend with 3 children, she comes across as the most bubbly, happy person when you meet her yet before Christmas she took herself off to a field and wanted to end her life.

Plitvice · 07/02/2023 11:27

I'm not saying she did this but it is not that statistically rare for a woman to leave her children safely with her partner and walk away. My aunt did it years ago, like I said. I am sure other people know of it happening in their own lives.

AmillionReasons · 07/02/2023 11:29

Honestly I hope she has run off somewhere and decides to come home. That's the best case scenario imo.

I have reported it too, due to the armchair sleuths / ghouls salivating over every detail.
