Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

@crocusfocus your posts are horrid. Her own family have wondered if she's chosen to leave, her sister has appealed to her directly and you're here on the internet calling her "mentally ill" and likening her to a fucking flat earther.

Fucking vile.

ofwarren · 07/02/2023 11:57

What would trigger it to become criminal? They would have to find a piece of evidence?
My worry is what happens if no body is found today. What do the police do then?

That probably depends on internal politics. If the current Super digs in and insist it remains a missing person case, then it could well remain that way until someone more senior overrules.

PetsRFuss · 07/02/2023 12:04

Is it not possible that whatever the water expert is saying to the media has been aligned and agreed with the police? For a prolific FB poster to stop posting suddenly and around the same time she was sharing her charity walk route publicly, is it not possible there is a stalker in the picture?

Possible
Did she stop sharing her walks around the same as as locking down her Facebook do you know?

Except that’s not what she said.

She likened the people who are coming up with these out-there conspiracy theories that she staged this elaborate plan to appear that she was missing, presumed drowned while she skipped off into the sunset to start a new life to flat earthers and covid deniers.

I wonder if her relationship was going through a rough patch. Her partner mentions their daughters missing her and loving her but he does not say it about himself.

You have no shame. God Almighty.

They have evidence already. They know her state of mind because she was laughing and joking with other walkers minutes earlier. She'd just sent an email to her boss so they'll know what that said and she'd just arranged a playdate for her girls.

Assuming there was nothing in the Teams call or the email to explain a change in her mental state (and they'll presumably know if that's the case) then it's vanishingly unlikely that she'd fake her death and walk away from her children.

So if she didn't fall in the river they'll assume a high chance of third party involvement - which is why they're asking for dashcam footage of the footpath opening onto the main road.

Just looked on her Strava. There's not much activity other than in November last year. Some lovely photos on there, so bloody sad.

Nobody said she faked her own death you need to re read.

itsnote · 07/02/2023 12:13

@MayThe4th yes that is what she said word for word. Exactly what she said.

The post has since been deleted so I'm not repeating it for you simply because you've got a bee in your bonnet about me pointing out the days of speculating you've done, including inventing things that just aren't there and calling people who know her names on the internet.

Activelyannoyed · 07/02/2023 12:14

I think folks need to remember, this guy is the police expert. He does all their work in the south east. He’s not just some random come up that river in a dinghy declaring himself expert. He actually is the one they go to and use for many many cases and is respected as a world leading expert in the field. So instead of slagging someone who is giving his and his companies time for free to help, simply as he dares speak out. I’d maybe remember that.

amd if the police didn’t wish him to talk, considering the police are a major client of his, and he is in meetings with them twice daily on this case for briefings, then he’d not be talking. So the fact he is talking, shows the police are ok with it.

Totally agree. The line that this is some publicity whore looking to sell more copies of his book is pretty offensive. If he doesn't think she's in the water, I'm inclined to take his advice.

itsnote · 07/02/2023 12:16

@Unicornpoop87 what on earth is wrong with you. The hand clap emoji to celebrate people being called mentally ill if they even dare to consider the (very slight) possibility she chose to disappear. Really?

God there's some horrible people out there.

For those of us who are local, this is very concerning, we want to know that all is being done. We want a resolution for the family, we care. We want her sisters hope that she's just gone off to resolve a few things to be true. This is our community. Your behaviour and that of @crocusfocus and @MayThe4th is disgusting.

Agree too
I'm so glad he's there. At least we will know for certain whether she is in the water with his equipment.

Nobody said she faked her own death you need to re read.

Where exactly did I say that? Nowhere? Excellent.

The fact is that if someone dumped their dog, their phone and disappeared, they would know that they would be reported missing. That’s not a supposition it’s a fact.

And given the sheer amount of media attention this case has had, they would know that at this stage they were presumed drowned.

And if they had disappeared of their own free will to start a new life, they could contact the authorities, say “I’m safe, but I don’t want my family to know where I am,” and as an adult, they would be entitled to do so. In fact there are people who have done exactly that.

So yes. if she had disappeared to start a new life, then it would absolutely be an elaborate plan to appear missing and let people think she had drowned.

Frazzledmummy123 · 07/02/2023 12:19

Unicornpoop87 · 07/02/2023 11:59

I’ve wondered this too

Me too. Surely there will be some plan for going forward, but without evidence of criminal activity or her found, what is going to happen next? 🙁

Her distraught dad said at the public appeal, what if she isn't found and they have to carry on not knowing. We just have to hope and pray there is some type of conclusion to this, and there is a plan if she isn't found today.

So awful for her family and friends. Not knowing is torture but there is is still hope. Whereas worrying they'll never know must be also worse than getting a very bad conclusion to it. I just cannot imagine what they must be going through😢

I guess that's true for me it just sounded a bit like he has contradicted what the police have been saying however now he will have inside knowledge and know more of what's going on, either way the police have been working really hard to solve this case.

SparkleBrows · 07/02/2023 12:20

Would it be normal to do a Teams call for work whilst walking your dog? It definitely wouldn't where I work.

No significance really, except it's unusual?

Plitvice · 07/02/2023 12:21

It feels a bit unusual because those roles are usually split between the people implementing the practical solutions and the spokesperson who does the external communicating.

Not really maybe she just didn't think it would be taken that way, maybe just maybe it was just left there so she couldn't be contacted. And maybe if she has realised what a huge thing it has become she might be scared to phone and say I'm ok you just don't know.

Sorry to repeat myself.

She set up a playdate for her daughters minutes before. Why would she do that if she was planning on running away?

SparkleBrows · 07/02/2023 12:25

If she had gone off to start a new life and the police know that, they couldn't tell anyone, not even her family, unless she gave them permission.

Depends on the workplace. My DH took an important work call at a petting zoo the other week.
