Americscot - we don't know he was messing with the police. If he didn't speak much English, and was late for a train or something - on the occasions I've been in London I've seen plenty of people in a rush jumping over the barriers........we just don't know do we.

They killed an innocent man as he lay on the ground - because he had ignored them and was wearing thick clothing?

I think we all need to be very worried.

Perhaps he did a runner for some other reason such as drug possession etc ... to then end up being shot in the head! . But you can understand why the police acted as they did though.

But he was being followed by undercovered police from his home to the tube station...

Suspicions are all very well, but to shoot someone 5 times in the head when he hadn't actually done anything to even merit being arrested for is a disgrace.

I think it is a tragedy but in the current climate it's hard to think what alternative the police had when faced with someone they already had under surveillance doing a runner from them onto a tube train.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. What if they hadn't shot him and he detonated a massive bomb as he lay there and it transpired the police were a)armed and b) suspicious

Don't understand why they didn't stop him as soon as he entered the station? Or fired a warning shot? It's a bit worrying.

It would be awful if it turns out he was innocent and I guess who ever did the shooting is going to have to live with that. However, I can inderstand that the police were working under incredibly difficult circumstances and I assume thought he had a bomb he was intending to detonate so by killing lots of people. If that was the case it would have been unforgivable not to shoot him.

We don't know what really happened, because according to PM, the police have changed the story 3 times since it happened.

Maybe he was a failed asylum seeker and thought they were immigration officials? Or a tax dodger and thought they were revenue men? Who knows?

At least now anyone who gets warned by the police will know that they'd better stop - like immediately.
