"on mumsnet this week" in the Mail. Is this a new thing

Came across this this morning when I should have been working

Is this a new weekly rip-off by the Mail? Or has it been going on for months and I'm behind the times as usual

I'm not quite as virulently anti the Mail as mnetters, find it silly rather than the end of civilisation as we know it. But still ...

what now? Shall I start a new thread?

I agree with threadie on this. What is that copyright statement for if not a situation like this - ongoing and weekly column rather than a one off, and largely against the wishes of most of the users?

If it was a different paper I can imagine why mn would shrug and be quite pleased that it's good publicity, but I really really hate the DM, it is gobsmackingly misogynistic, often too close to racisma and xenophobia for comfort and not a good link for what I'd always thought mn was about. Doesn't have to be like minded but the dm is something else.

goblinchild;

yes, i understand that the internet is very helpful to some people.... but it should not be all someone has.

I just have a horrible feeling that this is going to be one of those things where nothing is ever actually done and HQ wait for it to go quite whilst half the people who actually need to be on here leave quietly (or loudly) and MN is left with only people who would like to be quoted in the DM. Even better we could get lots of people joining how will post threads specifically to try to make it into the next DM column.

new thread

Hope there is a new thread, I feel the need to repeat lots of things that have already been said!

Lol x post - thanks!

I do agree, though, that if the copyright statement doesn't cover someone's commercially writing a article on the same theme as the thread and using passages from the thread to fill half of the article then it's hard to imagine what it does cover. On that basis someone else could write and publish the Mumsnet Guide To Babies as long as they threw in a few comments of their own, because they'd be quoting less than 10% of the sum total of Mumsnet postings, and MNHQ would be unable to stop it.
