"on mumsnet this week" in the Mail. Is this a new thing

jujumaman · 13/08/2009 10:32

Came across this this morning when I should have been working

Is this a new weekly rip-off by the Mail? Or has it been going on for months and I'm behind the times as usual

I'm not quite as virulently anti the Mail as mnetters, find it silly rather than the end of civilisation as we know it. But still ...

I don't give a flying fuck about the Mail. I do care about posters who can potentially be stalked becasue that fucking rag prints something that could lead to interest in them and their posts.
Print that you misogynistic bastards.

lol.

scottishmummy · 13/08/2009 23:09

maybe those who could be potentially stalked should be circumspect

if you post enough for a raver to stalk you is that not foolish?

Jeeez scottishmum stop patting yourself on the back

If you are stalked it's your own bloody fault...? Ermmmmmm

differentID · 13/08/2009 23:13

but if you are too circumspect you get called a troll! if you drip feed the info, you get called a troll! if you give a truthful and frank op which gives the info to get the support/ feedback you need/want the bastard papers print it and sometimes you have given info that makes you identifiable, becasue you don't think peopel will help if you don't especially if you namechange

gigglewitch · 13/08/2009 23:13

spot on, Diff.

TheWiltedRose · 13/08/2009 23:13

Scottishmummy im sure the women who have posted in desperation due to violence at home, the women who are not internet savvy, the women who are barely functioning because of stress or tiredness mayby due to relationship problems, Sn children, mental health problems and so on... Im sure they all immidiately think "oh yes i must be carefull no to say o much incase i get stalked" Im sure these ladies would appreciate being called foolish

WhoSoldMyPrivacyToTheDM · 13/08/2009 23:13

I can't fit my norks in a latte cup MP .

Is the camomile tea soothing?

morningpaper · 13/08/2009 23:14

I am still nekkid

mumonthenet · 13/08/2009 23:14

sleep well mp, particularly as you have to do your talk round up ( and please bear in mind I haven't had a good laugh for three weeks since you've been on hols so am pretty desperate)

Do think the DM must be a bit shortofstories inspired to use mn threads.

BitOfFun · 13/08/2009 23:14

Yup, lovebetrayal, you can't just leave like that. Not possible

mummylin2495 · 13/08/2009 23:14

IOnlyReadtheDailyMailinCafes · 13/08/2009 23:15

Maybe betrayal, dp is laughing as he has been nagging for ages to get me off here, all it took was the Daily Mail. Except it hasnt as I am here. But I would like to stay with no back history and will name change weekly

Has anyone had a response about having all of their posts deleted?

morningpaper · 13/08/2009 23:15

I have tried to file my Talk Roundup on Tech's Magic Roundup Server but it's all broken

He has gone from giving me Superpowers to changing the fecking locks completely

WhoSoldMyPrivacyToTheDM · 13/08/2009 23:16

I'd rather read MPs round up in the DM than the turgid shite they normally print actually

I will have to put my Roundup down Justine's chimney in the night or something

oopsagain · 13/08/2009 23:18

scottishmummy- that is the frickin' point that is being missed...
people Do pot stuff and have doen IN THE PAST, and it is all there just now to be raided by the DM.
It always was, but most of us felt it was MN's copyright and I for one, niavely, as it turns out, didn't feel that it would just get lifted into a national paper.

If I wanted to be in the Mail, I'd be in the frickin' Mail- i'd post on thier site.

I have posted stuff to support other people and it has been slightly psersonal- I know that my reliies don't come on here as the ones i have talked about don't have kids. But putting it into a bigger publis space makes me feel more vulnerable to somebdoy else reading stuff i've written- and I never wrote it for them"!!!!

does that make sense?

And I'm not particularly over excited or stressed, just find it incredible that MN's lawyers have agreed to this tbh

mumonthenet · 13/08/2009 23:19

you know what they say mp,

go on holiday,

  • come back and find your desk's no longer there!
Yurtgirl · 13/08/2009 23:19

I have only just spotted the upset that this has caused thunderduck and sweetness and have to say I find the whole thing really said - its leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

And seriously making me consider never posting on major issues about my life again
I might name change as well tbh - I dont come on MN to worry that I will then be quoted in a national newspaper

Advertising for MN is great but not like this
I am that anyone at MNTowers thought this was in anyway a good idea
