Pope's Funeral/Charles & Camilla Wedding

I read that the Pope's funeral has now been scheduled for Friday....the day Charles and Camilla are due to wed. In your opinion, should they postpone their wedding?

And, do you have any feelings about their wedding...especially with all the confusion about will she/won't she eventually be Queen, and will she/won't she be given the title of Princess of Wales?

It gives the Queen an even better excuse for not going to the wedding?
I don't care if they marry or not..I don't like him, leave my Nicholas Witchell alone.

I feel a bit sorry for them. What a shite day to get married.

Have no feelings, just think they should be allowed to get married quietly and in peace.

Given Charles's attitude to the press I should think he is thrilled. Couldn't give a stuff personally.

regarding the wedding, i don't mind whether or not she's queen, or whether or not she's given a title based on some outdated legislation - it will be how she acts in the role (including how she choses to be announced) that matters

she's waited 34 years to marry the man she has loved almost all her life - yes, she commited adultery, and when I've done absolutely nothing wrong in my life, I might condemn her for that - given that i fairly much stuffed up most of my life, bar giving birth to my son, i don't feel in the position to do so

The wedding is doomed & has been from the start. Good! Hate to wish ill on anyone or their marriage but those two apparently plotted & planned even before Charles' marriage to Diana. Their happiness together is not merited, in my opinion.

If they do postpone it - will Ken & Deidre postpone theirs. The write up in the TV guide comparing the 2 weddings made me laugh!

I wish them all the happiness in teh world - she has behaved with great dignity, she could have made a fortune selling her story to the media.

don't give a stuff about the pope - the outdated teachings that have eminatted from the vatican during his stint as pontiff have caused untold harm around the world.

He should have married her 30 years ago. Being heir to the throne and only marrying a virgin was more important apparently.

Pffft, lilibet. You're entitled to your opinion but I find your remark about the pope offensive and largely unfounded. Do you know anything about communism and/or Poland?

Thought it was a bit arrogant that they came out and said they'd go ahead regardless even if the funeral were scheduled for Friday. However the dilemma is more for the media I would have thought - which do they give more coverage to, without offending anyone, and how will it affect their respective ratings and which crack reporter do they send for which. From the timings it looks like they should be able to get the funeral in before the wedding.

As to the stuff regrading Camilla's title she'll become Princess of Wales via the back door anyway, regardless of her official title. Little by little she will take on more and more significance, just as a few years ago the wedding itself was unimaginable but has gradually become "acceptable".

Most people seemed not to be bothered about C&C's wedding but felt the pope's funeral was a bigger story.

Clearly the funeral of a head of state should take precedence over the (second) wedding of a head-of-state-to-be. Clearly the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Prime Minister should attend the funeral along with whichever representative is chosen for the Queen (Duke of Edinburgh was mooted on radio 4 this morning and I'm sure he would be glad of the excuse!). I am not Catholic but am a Christian. I didn't agree with everything the Pope said/did (but he was human and just as open to sin as the rest of us) but I am deeply respectful of his position and achievements in his time as leader of the Catholic church. His failings should not overshadow the astonishing things he achieved or facilitated. This event is of far more significance than the re-marriage of the Prince of Wales. I think the wedding should go ahead with minimal/no coverage - they have said all along that they wanted a quiet/private affair - let's see if they like just how quiet I think it should be!

Why would they cancel? They're not RC are they.

I thought the whole point of the church of England was that the pope didn't matter (wasn't that what Henry VIII was after ?). So logically it should have no impact on their wedding.

Maybe they might consider it inappropriate given the catholic population in the uk (no idea how big or small that is ?).

But presumably trying to rearrange at this late date would be a logistical nightmare.

Makes it tricky in terms of representatives of Queen and government - who goes to which event ?

And I don't think Camilla should be Queen but mainyl 'cos I don't think Charles is up to the job of King

this wedding does seem to be plagued with problems (at least in arranging it).
