Pope's Funeral/Charles & Camilla Wedding

I read that the Pope's funeral has now been scheduled for Friday....the day Charles and Camilla are due to wed. In your opinion, should they postpone their wedding?

And, do you have any feelings about their wedding...especially with all the confusion about will she/won't she eventually be Queen, and will she/won't she be given the title of Princess of Wales?

The pundits were saying Duke of Edinburgh, Caligula.

franke · 04/04/2005 14:24

Just heard they've postponed the wedding.

Caligula · 04/04/2005 14:24

Blimey, he's nearly dead himself if press reports are to be believed.

Charles is going to the funeral on Friday and getting married Saturday.

Gobbledigook · 04/04/2005 14:26

Do you think the Queen has sent him, given that she is clearly not chuffed about the wedding in the first place?

elliott · 04/04/2005 14:28

ha ha ha. So ill-fated this wedding....

I really do think Dierdre and Ken should follow suit

Caligula · 04/04/2005 14:33

I don't really think it's a humiliating blow for them, just that it's an acknowledgement that someone else and something else is more important than their wedding.

I actually think some people will admire them for this decision - let's face it, how many bridezilla's would cancel their wedding because someone else is dead? (Mind you, the rest of the world has neither the clout nor the money to get the ceremony shifted to the next day)

Caligula · 04/04/2005 14:34

Oh and I definitely agree K&D should follow suit! Imagine Blanche's delight!

happymerryberries · 04/04/2005 14:37

Granted the situation is rather different for C & C (since he is paid a load of dosh for 'representing' us at things like this), but I wouldn't have cancelled my wedding for the Pope's funeral. And I wasn't a bridezilla honest! I don't care what they do tbh, and never have

Fimbo · 04/04/2005 14:38

If K & D cancel - then they would have a funeral dilema as well as Ray dies during/at the reception!!!

Yes but I bet you wouldn't have had your local registry office fawning around after you HMB saying "yes of course we can fit you in the next day instead" and the caterers saying "yes of course we can do it all the next day instead, at no extra charge (or if there is an extra charge, the taxpayer's footing the bill anyway)!"

hatmum · 04/04/2005 14:42

Not everyone has the resources to reschedule at such short notice but definitely the most appropriate thing to do if they want those particular guests to be at the wedding. Shame for those who thought they might have a weekend in Rome - now they have to rush back for a morning wedding (reg office is booked for others in the afternoon).

True Caligula, I bet 'Fawning' doesn't even begin to cover it! Shall I see you beside me on the barricades? Up the Revolution!

Caligula · 04/04/2005 14:47

[waves red flag with Blanche's face in beret on it]

happymerryberries · 04/04/2005 14:48

LOL!

milliways · 04/04/2005 14:52

TV Guide says "Poor Camilla, fancy picking today of all days to wed Prince Charles, just when Ken & Deidre are retying the knot in Corrie. Comparisons are inevitable. Both couples have a few miles on the clock, have married other partners and have shared a colourful relationship history. But today (Fri) none of that will matter. All we want to know is - Which bride has the better frock?

hatmum · 04/04/2005 15:10

Don't forget the Balamory wedding which is also on Friday!

And completely off topic - did anyone see Balamory this morning with PC Plum as Brian May???

Fimbo · 04/04/2005 15:11

Who's getting married in Balamory then?
