Pope's Funeral/Charles & Camilla Wedding

I read that the Pope's funeral has now been scheduled for Friday....the day Charles and Camilla are due to wed. In your opinion, should they postpone their wedding?

And, do you have any feelings about their wedding...especially with all the confusion about will she/won't she eventually be Queen, and will she/won't she be given the title of Princess of Wales?

Random island couple - it's advertised in the Radio Times this week. All of Balamory turn out for the big day.

I don't care one way or the other but I certainly wouldn't cancel my wedding cos the Pope is getting buried!

aloha · 04/04/2005 15:29

Why on earth should they postpone? I wouldn't post my wedding because, say, the Dalai Lama had died, or the Archbishop of Canterbury - or anyone at all except the groom I really can't see how it affects them at all. They aren't even Catholic.
I think it's just a nonsense.

Caligula · 04/04/2005 15:30

I bet Ian Paisley's apoplectic!

beansprout · 04/04/2005 15:33

Trefusis - you are truly unlucky!!
Perhaps you should write to C&C and say "here, you think you've been unlucky, listen to this......"?!

aloha · 04/04/2005 15:33

Oh, he's cancelled. So no stag do then?

Apparently Charles wants to go to the funeral himself. I can't say I have much sympathy with any of them but poor old Camilla! She's been upstaged by a dead old man!!

So for people worrying about flights and the cost of them - you'll have to report back to us on the spectacle of Charles and Tone and Rowan Williams all jostling for their seats on Ryanair....

How do they all find available flights? Will Charles 0ffer them a lift in his private plane?

happymerryberries · 04/04/2005 17:53

I would imagine taht large numbers of pilots in the RAF have had their weekends cancelled to do all the ferrying round

JoolsToo · 04/04/2005 17:58

what do you think of her being 'The Princess of Wales'?

snafu · 04/04/2005 18:02

Seems appropriate since she's going to be married to the Prince of Wales... People seem to forget the title wasn't invented for Diana.

What do you think will happen to all that memorabilia (sp?) tea towels, mugs and plates that will now have the wrong date on ???

Couldn't give two hoots about funeral and royal wedding - I will be watching K & D

Twiglett · 04/04/2005 18:15

OMG did anyone see News of the Screws magazine this week

there was a 'feature' with an interview with Princess Diana and her views on the marriage (by a psychic of course) written in an interview style with comments along the lines of 'he's always liked bigger breasts'

couldn't get past the first paragraph of course for laughing

JoolsToo · 04/04/2005 18:15

snafu - true but divorcees don't usually get the title do they? - bloody hell - they even stripped Diana of HRH and she was mother to the future king.

binker · 04/04/2005 18:29

Let them get married in peace and leave them alone - but probably better all round if they avoid Friday

Lonelymum · 04/04/2005 18:52

I'm glad they have postponed. It is right and proper that a future head of state should postpone his low key wedding for a greater head of state's funeral. Feel a bit sorry for them though on a human level: I wouldn't want to have postponed my wedding.

never! off with your head

sansouci · 04/04/2005 19:56

"Bin the royals". My sentiments exactly. What is so royal about them, except that they are proving to be royal pains in the arse. The only one of that sorry bunch I have any respect for is the Queen & once she goes, there goes the monarchy. That interview at Klosters is too f*king much. Shut your mouth & do your bloody job or better, pss off.

I did some googling earlier and found something from a biographer that said the Q has no time for CPB (because she blames her for the adultery but not Charles ) and that W and H are not too keen either.

Liked it because it's exactly how I feel but not necessarily reliable I suppose...has anyone else been watching the Queen's Castle on Sunday nights? It's wonderful. I would like to keep her and Philip until they both pop off and then send the rest down the Labour Exchange or whatever they call it these days

sansouci · 04/04/2005 20:17

Mummy would hardly blame ds for anything, would she? Would you?
