The poor 17 month old -died of broken back

I just find these kind of stories of extreme abuse so very upsetting and wish we had better safeguards in place to stop such hideous harm happening or at least continuing (when it's pretty obvious!) to helpless children. Why on earth did the doctor not examine a child because he was already on an at risk register and was 'cranky and miserable' at an appointment and hence he/she failed to notice broken back and ribs? It beggars belief. I'm not a punitive 'hang them flog them' type (in fact I'm strongly against corporal punishment) but in this instance I think the mother should be forcibly sterilised to prevent her ever hurting or 'allowing' such hurt to any other child.

Aww, I can't look at his little face, he looks like DS. It's all so horrendous.

MarmadukeScarlet · 14/11/2008 18:00

Poor, poor baby Peter - what a sweet faced angel.

I kept waking the other night, having caught a few minutes of the ITV news where a man with his face obscured was being interviewed. I believe (not sure as put it on after the start of the interview and turned it off very quickly) he was the Uncle of the 15 yr old girl who was living with the lodger (who iirc is boyfriends brother?) and he went into such graphic detail about what the girl had seen going on. It beggars belief that she could just stand by and watch it happen.

Have signed petition and emailed my MP, Ed Balls and Bev Hughes.

I can do either of the dates suggested if there is a walk to Westminster.

What a beautiful baby boy. Heartbreaking.

flubdub · 15/11/2008 10:34

Theres a picture of the beautiful little boy here on this Facebook group.

I am hoping to have an article published next week which explains why the system goes wrong so often. This is jointly written by me and two social workers (one an academic and the other also a lawyer).

If it isn't published in the Birmingham Post then I will publish it on the net.

The other part of the EDM deals with the fact a government department (DCSF) have instructed local councils not to give me an (anonymous) list of children that have died and whose death has given rise to a serious case review.

The question I ask is why?

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 16:01

Johnlemming, I would be very interested in your article. Please post a link here where it is available. I am saddened you did not make any headway with your request for information. I too would ask why.

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 16:02

johnhemming ...

Kimi · 15/11/2008 18:48

I wept when I saw his little face in the paper today, tell me again why we can't hang the scum that did this?

Oh yes human rights, well I don't think you could call them human and they gave up any rights to be treated as such when they killed that poor poor baby.

PottyCock · 15/11/2008 20:35

Johnhemming, I have written to my MP to ask that he support your EDM. I was curious to see that the DSCF have instructed Councils to refuse your request for this info...does not suggest confidence in the current system. Will look forward to your article.

You need to make a link

Kimi · 16/11/2008 13:36

Not sure that site is helpful though.
Still it is scary how normal evil can look.

I hope they all rot in hell, slowly and painfully.

The social services should not just be able to walk away from this though, they have that baby's blood on their hands too and as for the Dr where did she train? University of idiots? She should be struck off.

mamadiva · 16/11/2008 13:52

She had 5 kids including Peter, one was seriously abused too and the latest is in care but where are the other 2? Assuming the eldest is in care of course(she was abused too)

I was going to post that link too Kimi but thought would be flamed. At the end of the day we need to know and these people don't deserve annonymity! I hope they enjoy their stay in HM quarters! Just a shame we need to pay out to keep them alive aint it!

I know that killing them won't change anything but I for one would feel better knowing that they are not breathing or laughing anymore, she laughed at the trial when her sons injuries were being read out?!?

Wouldn't piss on her if she were on fire!

Sleep tight baby boy hope you are safe and your sisters wherever they are. Keep watching over them xxx

I was just making it a link calebsmum posted it.
I do not think they should be allowed to blend in to the background and no one know what they have done.
And no matter how long they go to prison for it will not be long enough.

If someone hurt one of my children I would rip them limb from limb, not sit on the PC playing fecking bingo and let them get on with it, vile vile vermin, no other words for them.

BabyBaby123 · 16/11/2008 17:44

can not believe they sliced the tops of his fingers off with a stanley life and someone actually sat by and watched it happening??

They taught the dogs to bite him

They will get what's coming to them on the inside - I can't wait to hear about it tbh

2shoes · 16/11/2008 17:46

ffs what kind of moron posts things like that[angry

Biglips · 16/11/2008 17:55

this is on Facebook now...but why???

turquoise · 16/11/2008 18:04

Seriously - does anybody believe "the Daily Squib" is a genuine newspaper? Have you actually looked at it?

This feels like the Twilight Zone.

people can avoid the grisly details by turning off the tv, radio, or not buying a newspaper. don;t need it in multiple places all over MN .

2shoes · 16/11/2008 19:02

BabyBaby123 reported both your posts

expatinscotland · 16/11/2008 19:03

'fuck off 2shoes - do you not have a tv or read the newspapers? '

honestly, i sometimes wonder why i bother anymore.

!

pgwithnumber3 · 16/11/2008 19:12

I don't understand why anyone could read the whole gory details on this case. The little bits I have caught before I could turn the page of the newspaper or turn the television over have upset me enough. Why the News of the World etc have today had to reveal all the injuries this poor child suffered is beyond me. What good does it do?
