the problem isnt whether it is profit or loss.
this man also has rights. something many of you dont want to recognise.
whether the business is hot or not doesnt matter. its his business, and he is running it to the best of his ability. eve n if his best isnt very good. he also has some rights inthis. and it is atrocious that she is putting this man through this.

stitch · 12/07/2008 17:22

he is stuck between a rock and a hardplace.
frying pan or fire? which should he choose?

zippitippitoes · 12/07/2008 17:23

she has motor co ordination and nerve problems she isnt spitting all over

shes not a footballer

southeastastra · 12/07/2008 17:23

it is so sad but the DDA is there and i bloody hope that woman uses it to sue his arse off.

southeastastra · 12/07/2008 17:23

and he is totally spineless not telling her himself

edam · 12/07/2008 17:24

He emphatically does NOT have the right to discriminate. That is against the law. The Disability Discrimination Act makes it offence to treat someone less favourably as a result of their disability.

expatinscotland · 12/07/2008 17:24

Well, I don't see two sides to this at all, and most people wouldn't if it were you or your husband or son or daughter.

Skribble · 12/07/2008 17:24

Don't know if I would really word it as strongly or as insensistivly as sticth though.

Graciefer · 12/07/2008 17:24

Are people really believing that this lady was 'spitting everywhere' or purposely trying to distort it to suit their narrow minded views?

I fear it may be the latter.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 12/07/2008 17:24

lulu - exactly.

Not everyone gets the choice to live in a sanitized 'perfect' work (thank god). And be aware the non-perfect version is a much nicer place- because you get to meet people like zippi and don't waste time with those who can't cope.

stitch · 12/07/2008 17:25

he is spineless, certainly.
but sue his arse off? o yes, i forgot for a few minutes the sort of society i live in. o dear, had a fall because i wlaked accross a wet floor. let ssue the company so we can finance holidays.
this thread is really really making me sweary (as someone else said)
just because she is disabled does not mean she has the right to ruin everyone and everything around her.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 12/07/2008 17:26

'this man also has rights"

What to discriminate against whoever he wants to?

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 12/07/2008 17:27

"just because she is disabled does not mean she has the right to ruin everyone and everything around her."

She's eating a meal.

And you still haven't answered

WHAT SHOULD SHE DO? I assume you want her to stay at home all the time.

southeastastra · 12/07/2008 17:27

fgs that's not the same at all is it stitch.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 12/07/2008 17:27

stitch there's something called the DDA now. I think this thread explains nicely why it's needed.

foxymolly · 12/07/2008 17:27

Absoulte nonsense is being wrote on this thread.

I should tolerate spitting because someone may have spit in my food anyway? What a ludicrous comment

And I dont have a problem with sitting in a restaurant with a woman with a diaabilty, I have a problem with someone spitting in a restaurant.

expatinscotland · 12/07/2008 17:29

'just because she is disabled does not mean she has the right to ruin everyone and everything around her.'

let's just hope nothing like this EVER happens to you or someone you love then, not just Huntington's but MS or even cancer or a disease of old age that renders you unable to conduct yourself the way you always have.

and we'll see how amenable you are to living life as a shut in because of other peoples' ignorance and/or narrow-mindedness.

lulumama · 12/07/2008 17:29

you know what, i would rather eat in a restaurant with someone like the lady described, and teach my children about tolerance than eat with people who would rather not pay for their meal or would walk out of a restaurant than eat near someone who spits

gods sake, i have caught my childrens piss, poo and vomit, and a fair amount of bodily fluids from clietns, i reckon i can cope with a bit of spit

i cannot believe that people think that it is ok for this woman to be condemned to a life of not eating out again

i also made the point earlier, that i thik the restaurant owner is the worst sort of hypocrite as he won;t have her in the restaurant but would happily take her money if she wants a meal delivered.

foxymolly · 12/07/2008 17:29

If you read the artictle properly youo would see that he can bann on her health and safety issues.

Skribble · 12/07/2008 17:29

I think comments like having self respect and sorting herself out, aren't really part of an inteligent debate are they,

foxymolly · 12/07/2008 17:30

He has to offer the take away service, read the article properly!

Mercy · 12/07/2008 17:31

Foxymolly, she's not doing it on purpose fgs.

And it's not just about the restaurant owner, it's more about the people who visit his restaurant (ie, the general public)

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 12/07/2008 17:31

Er it's the disability that's causing the spitting foxymolly.

So you do have a problem with someone with a disability sitting in a restaurant. Or perhaps you only tolerate socially acceptable disabilities.

My son goes to a school with almost 100 children in it. Not one of them can abide by the norms of society, some for reasons of profound physical disability (I'm assuming you're going to be objecting to tube feeding as well) and some for reasons of severe learning disability. Where do you want these 100 children? Kept away from the nice places? Don't care as long as they're nowhere near you?

foxymolly · 12/07/2008 17:32

Look spitting on the floor in a restaurant is not accpetable, if you cant spit discreetly into a napkin you shouldn't be allowed in the restaurant.

Hecate · 12/07/2008 17:32

AARRGGGHHHHHHH

SHE'S NOT SPITTING SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING, SHE'S NOT SPITTING
SOMEONE PLEASE HEAR MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
