How utterly utterly heartrending.

OP posts:
lunavix · 16/06/2008 18:28

Don't care if he was ill. He murdered two children.

3littlefrogs · 16/06/2008 18:44

It is heart breaking. Those poor little innocent children.

Janos · 16/06/2008 18:47

Illness is no excuse.

My sympathy too lies with the mother and two innocent children who lost their lives, because they loved their dad and trusted him not to hurt them.

How unbelievably cruel.

This is the third case I can remember this year alone
and

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 16/06/2008 18:48

there seem to be suddenly a lot of these cases ?

FAQ · 16/06/2008 18:48

Threadworm - I think you're 18.24 post will mostly fall on deaf ears on this thread...

I've seen threads like this in the past that label people with severe mental issues (who commit horrendous crimes as a direct result of their illness) the same as a cold blooded murderer.

Extremely sad for the family regardless of any of the above speculation.

MrsTittleMouse · 16/06/2008 18:50

Agree that he might have been ill.
It is interesting though that cases of mothers killing their children when they commit suicide seem much rarer...

NotABanana · 16/06/2008 18:50

I feel that the mother should take some responsibilty for what has happened. Something has clearly been done to make this man think taking his and his children's lifes is better than living with the situation he is in. He was obviously wrong to murder his children and to send a package to his ex wife but no-one knows what has gone on within their relationship and to call him a selfish b***d is too simplistic.

FAQ · 16/06/2008 18:53

true MTM - although someone I know very well in RL (who is now thankfully on the road to recovery again with her depression) has admitted to me in the past that when she'd felt suicidal she planned to take her DD's with her, and it was not just a once off thought.

MrsTittleMouse · 16/06/2008 18:55

God, how sad. Thank goodness that she is recovering.

Scuff · 16/06/2008 18:55

news report stated that the father had sent a 'suspicious package' to the childrens' mother.

minorityrules · 16/06/2008 18:56

Tragic story but I think the title is harsh

No one knows what the back story is and I thought speculating about grisly events was a no go on here?

i'm guessing the man was in a terrible place, not to excuse him in anyway, just feel really sad that someone got to that stage.

not only am I thinking of the mother tonight, I am also thinking of this mans mother and father too, terrible loss for them also

madamez · 16/06/2008 18:57

NAB I doubt very much the mother should take any responsibility. If shehas sex with other people, or laughed at the size of her XP's dick, or just didn't want to live with him any more, that does not excuse his actions in the slightest. And the old exhaust-pipe-through-the-window is far too calculating for the moment-of-madness defence.
Men like this are vicious, despicable scumbags.

DirtySexyMummy · 16/06/2008 18:59

Completely agree with NAB.

DirtySexyMummy · 16/06/2008 19:01

Change that, I completely agree with minorityrules.

I don't think the mother is to blame, I misread NABs post (though I agree with part of it)

NotABanana · 16/06/2008 19:02

I just posted my first thought when I heard the story.

I wasn't justifying his actions but it is always poor mother who loses her children and how many of those poor mothers are denying the father's access to their children? I am no more speculating than many of you.

edam · 16/06/2008 19:03

Just another one in a sadly long line of men who are so vindictive they will murder their children to punish a wife who dares to defy them.

I am with NAB on this one.

edam · 16/06/2008 19:05

NAB, are you really saying any woman deserves to have her children murdered? A caring father does not kill his children, fgs. We have no idea whether there were any disputes over access but we can clearly see now that he should never have been allowed anywhere near them!

Niecie · 16/06/2008 19:07

Would we be saying the same if a mother had done this?

There were those two children murdered by their mother a couple of weeks ago. She tried to murder the 3rd. She got sectioned but nobody is would say poor father there - having lost his 2 children.

Whose to say that the father in this case couldn't have been sectioned if he had been found in time. Would it have changed anybody's opinion?

I don't think any of us are in a position to judge what drives somebody to do anything so desperate.

We know nothing of the background to this story, and to speculate is distasteful.

Nothing justifies a parent taking the life of their child or children in this way, though.

Nothing.

Flllight · 16/06/2008 19:10

Oh hell, not another one

The bit by the 9 year old made me smile, 'she was a bit messy with my stuff but overall she was a good friend'
How dear is that! Forgive me for smiling though as I feel I shouldn't be in the face of what has happened.

How utterly appalling that these little sweethearts had to die. I shudder to think my own ex would probably have approved

Flllight · 16/06/2008 19:12

NAB I'm afraid I really find your comments below rather out of place and misguided, whether we know the facts or not there are plenty of men who are justifiably excluded from contact with their children.

Nothing she could have done would possibly have made him do such a bloody horrible thing.
