It was on the radio

(My hubby told me he was listening to it, I hadn't heard about it either)

LuluBlakey1 · 11/07/2024 18:59

My thinking is this will be the remains of a woman given the circumstances- likely his partner/someone he knows.

Beekeepingmum · 11/07/2024 19:08

The radio says they are looking for black man with a beard. I know a few of them should I report them all just in case? Seems like quite a broad category.

They've just issued some very clear pictures of the man so hopefully he'll be caught pronto

Where?

What the hell is wrong with these men?!?

Why is there one of these incidents every other day?!?

VAWG seems to be getting worse.

And we all know why.

Backwoods57 · 11/07/2024 17:57

It feels like every day there is news of a shooting, stabbing or other killing. The country feels more violent

The uk didn’t used to be like this

MontanaSapphire · 11/07/2024 19:17

Hedgeoffressian · 11/07/2024 19:13

I don't know why. Could you elaborate?

Yes it did. In fact it used to be worse. Statistics are available.

Ezzee · 11/07/2024 19:33

There are many missing in Bristol and the surrounding areas, as any city.
I would say that he didn't know the area well as the bridge is patrolled to look for people who are venerable, plus the barriers and cameras. this doesn't rule out someone who lives in Bristol as not everyone will have visited the bridge, I work at the uni and had my students haven't visited!

Daleksatemyshed · 11/07/2024 19:33

Most people who kill someone don't plan to, or if they do, they don't give much thought to how they'll dispose of the body. It's so sad that so many people, mainly men, can't see past their anger and see they're wrecking so many lives

And these days we have rolling 24-hour news and social media so we have very rapid knowledge of terrible events which I am sure adds to the sense that we live in exceptionally dreadful times.

I’m not from Bristol but that’s irrelevant. Hoping it isn’t him means you are hoping it is someone else. Being stuffed in two suitcases is not a fate I would ‘hope’ for, for anybody.

I know Jacks family, so yes I’m praying this isn’t Jack as I couldn’t bare the thought of them finding out that this happened to him. I wouldn’t want it to be anyone but yes I am hoping it’s someone else.

Aspierational · 11/07/2024 19:41

Isn't it unlikely to be a missing person as it was probably a recently committed murder? If the body had been sitting for days or more, wouldn't the smell have been obvious to the taxi driver and anyone around?

AbraAbraCadabra · 11/07/2024 19:48

separatedornot · 11/07/2024 16:55

Seems a very odd place to leave it

That's what I thought. And to go via taxi (very traceable and a witness!) to somewhere with CCTV?!? I suspect he wanted to chuck the cases over the bridge but maybe was seen? Either way, doesn't seem like the brightest button in the box!

Debbiejv · 11/07/2024 19:48

The suitcases were leaking blood. It will have happened that day.

Why don’t you look at the picture of him that’s linked on this thread?

When we saw the posters up about a missing Student, it made us
suspect ''Foul play'' or falling into the docks- Why otherwise would a young man just 'disappear'?
But the Docks have likely been searched by Divers.

Much like Jonathan Spollen from Eire who suddenly stopped contacting his family while he was in India.
Jonathan Spollen was close to his Mum- there was no reason for him to 'disappear' without trace.
He was due home in a few days, too.
Still no one knows what happened.

That area is probably the most ''CCTV''d part of the City.

Quite rightly so with the risk of suicides.

Someone I know born in Bristol thinks the perp was not familiar with the area - otherwise he'd have known about the higher anti~ person safety wires and CCTV monitoring - Plus, as a toll bridge {Not sure how much it is now, but it used to be 50p} there are cameras looking at vehicles who might try to evade the charges.

Isn't theold Harbour non Tidal? {Something about ''Floating Harbour''?}
There is a part where it does get very tidal- the Bristol Avon and this does have a huge tidal range.
When they used to have the ''Tall ships'' there, it was interesting to see the speeds at which they glided out silently on tide alone-into the treacherous Bristol Channel.
