Colombian equals Colombian drug gangs surely 🤷🏼‍♀️
Perhaps this man had very little education and didn't realize that what goes unnoticed in Colombia (because of the level of corruption) would attract enormous amounts of attention in the UK?

What a weird view you have. There are all kinds of people from Columbia. Just as there are from anywhere. I have been to Columbia. Lovely country, lovely people. I think you might benefit from travelling a bit more.

RoseAndRose · 13/07/2024 17:27

The Sun is running a story which must have come from neighbours in Shepherds Bush, saying that the address searched was home to two men, one of whom used a wheelchair. And that they had been talking about making a visit to Bristol.

Now, it's a tabloid, and the source isn't named, so I don't know how far we can rely on it to be true and/or complete.

And it still leaves a shed load of possibilities for what happened and why. But does hint at an answer to "why Bristol?"

(Edited to add that even though (or should that be because) The Sun is a tabloid, I'm assuming their legal department is up to scratch, and that if they think it's OK to publish those comments in its article, it's OK to refer to them)

what a strange post!

I wonder if that was a disabled father and his son? And the second victim was either a carer, friend or other family member who discovered the murder and would have told the police the father was dead.

Perhaps the train tickets to Bristol had already been bought?

placemats · 13/07/2024 17:55

So I'm now leaving this to the Met police, who knew the people in the suitcases and also the person of interest who was arrested peacefully and charged with murder.

RoseAndRose · 13/07/2024 18:00

I haven't seen a Met update yet about charges.

There could be one at any time, depending on how questioning has been going; and they sound very sure so I'd be amazed if the man arrested wasn't charged. I just didn't think it had happened yet

Many Colombians are decent and very good people. However, the ones who aren’t are now free to roam around here because they do not need a visa to come anymore.

Sorry if it’s been covered…

Just read a news report saying the suspect ran away shouting, “my boss is really bad!”

So maybe he was, at best, coerced/contracted into disposing the bodies (but not the murderer) or potentially threatened himself and forced to kill the victims by some sort of gangland leader.

Biggleslefae · 13/07/2024 17:30

what a strange post!

Hmm, I’d say your posts and your opinion of Colombians is strange. You also say “they can now come here without a visa”. They can only do so as tourists, just like people from many other countries 🤷‍♀️

Any news on the victims?

I've seen nothing beyond what The Sun printed yesterday.

There'll probably be an announcement fairly soon, once NOK have been informed. They might also be confirming formally via DNA or dental records (as the dismemberment might have prevented visual ID)

That poor family

Police has named the victims

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/clifton-suspension-bridge-man-charged-9410857

Police have named the victims as Albert Alfonso, 62, and 71-year-old Paul Longworth. The pair were reportedly known to Mosquera and he had reportedly been living with them at the flat in Scotts Road.

Choux · 15/07/2024 07:20

He's been charged with murder.

news.sky.com/story/man-charged-with-double-murder-after-human-remains-found-in-bristol-and-london-as-victims-named-13177128

Some more details in this article. The two victims were gay men who were no longer together but shared the Shepherds Bush address and Yostin had been staying with them for a short period.

So no drug cartel or gang.

Willmafrockfit · 15/07/2024 07:25

that's surprising

According to the BBC the man charged had been in a relationship with one of the men he murdered so it sounds like a love triangle situation.

Also According to the BBC it's been recorded as a hate crime and officers are working with an LGB etc etc group which seems odd if the victims and perpetrator were all gay.

If a black person murders another black person is it recorded as a (racist) hate crime?

I don't think he was in a relationship with one, they were previously in a relationship with each other?

You're right !!! I completely misread the BBC article because I'm half asleep still.
Please ignore my previous musings !!!

I don't think it's you, I think it's how it's written as I thought exactly the same and read it again to get that right haha

Makes it a really weird, really sad case. Makes zero sense to take parts to Bristol too, poor men

Willmafrockfit · 15/07/2024 09:45

perhaps it was a suicide pact?

CatMumSlave · 15/07/2024 09:45

I doubt he murdered him / them because they were black?

CatMumSlave · 15/07/2024 09:47

I've just checked. Both victims were white. Still doubt it was a racism thing.

Why did you think they were black?

Hvjudefjhfdr · 15/07/2024 09:54

The case seems even stranger now the details are coming out.
Him shouting that his boss was a bad man doesn’t seem to make much sense, and the fact that the stories today say the 2 dead men were planning to travel to Bristol (alive!) and then he chose to take them there dead seems like a bit of a sick twist in the tale.
