Some good news at last!!

OP posts:
Shaniece · 15/03/2008 19:50

I wonder if the other 6 children have been taken into care also? I guess we will know sooner or later. I hope Shannon will be ok.

wannaBe · 15/03/2008 19:55

only two or three of the other children live with the mother don't they?

I would have thought that if it was as straightforward as shannon being abducted, the man they have in custody would have been charged with that by now, and yet he hasn't. And presumably police will only have 24/36 hours to hold him before either charging or releasing him, otherwise they have to apply for extra time which in itself would imply it's much more complicated.

Lulumama · 15/03/2008 19:58

veraduckworthshandbag is someone who only posts contentiously on contentious topics.

anyway, am glad i am glad shannon has been found alive

there is more to this story than we will ever know, and i doubt the full true story will make it through the speculation and the stories that will get sold

Shaniece · 15/03/2008 20:03

oh, didn't realise that not all of the kids lived with the mum - so are they with their dads?? anyone know??

wannaBe · 15/03/2008 20:10

not sure, although someone did say that shannon's only full brother lives with her dad, and yet he hasn't seen Shannon for two years.

I doubt we'll ever find out what really went on. If Shannon is taken into care permanently then that will be the end of it as far as the media coverage is concerned imo, apart from if any charges are brought.

3NAB · 15/03/2008 20:22

some of the kids live with their dads.

Shaniece · 15/03/2008 20:26

So Shannon has 1 'full' brother, so are the other 5 children all by different dads?

Piffle · 15/03/2008 20:26

you can be sure if anything untoward with the family and Shannon was going on, the ss cops and so on would be on to the other kids pronto.

Would hate to think what people would say about dd if it was her that had gone missing like Shannon did..
glasses, wonky eyes, fierce mad hair, facial features formed by her syndrome...
shocking thing to say, I cried when she was found, because I am a mother. I saw her only as someones child not as a unit to be judged on attractiveness.

3NAB · 15/03/2008 20:27

me too

Shaniece · 15/03/2008 20:37

I agree Piffle - I was shocked to read on here that someone felt the need to comment on her appearance - I personally think she is cute, kinda cheeky looking .

wannaBe · 15/03/2008 22:08

but we don't know the other children haven't been taken into care - the media may not be allowed to report that because of prejudicing a trial.

WendyWeber · 15/03/2008 22:16

FGS, she hasn't been "taken into care"!

My post at 2259 yesterday:

Piffle · 15/03/2008 22:23

Oh fgs the neighbours friends would spill. Sky would know. Of course. They are just protecting Shannon and with all those fucking mad journos camped on her home doorstep... Who could blame them

Flight · 16/03/2008 06:49

I would really like to suggest that we draw a line under this NOW, as there is nothing anyone can say that is new, and no more info is available to us - plus there are friends and relatives of Shannon who use this forum, so I think it would be respectful to them.

Anyone in agreement?

kiskideesameanoldmother · 16/03/2008 07:00

_

Shaniece · 16/03/2008 19:07

Didn't Shannon's Mum look really ill? So pale, she also looks like she hasn't slept (understandably) - poor woman.

clam · 16/03/2008 20:37

I don't think the world looked away. Maybe there's not been quite the same media frenzy as with Maddy, but there have been regular news updates throughout. And as someone pointed out earlier in this thread, the police have clearly been trying to untangle what is a hugely complex extended family set-up, and it's quite possible they had an inkling that something like this was the case. Therefore it's different from Madeleine's case.

clam · 16/03/2008 20:41

Oh, and if Shannon's step-aunt is still reading this, I'm SO pleased for you all that she's been found. And I think she looks cute and lovely (although so what if she didn't?)

wannaBe · 17/03/2008 12:02

they were talking about this on this morning just now, and apparently Shannon hasn't actually been reunited with her mother - her mother only got to glimpse Shannon through a one-way mirror and Shannon was unaware her mum was there .

WendyWeber · 17/03/2008 12:06

I heard they saw each other in the same room - briefly - but were not allowed to touch each other.

But who knows, hey?

DrNortherner · 17/03/2008 12:08

If they didn't wnat me to touch my child I'd have to be seperated by a one way mirror. The urge to hold them would be too great imo.

wannaBe · 17/03/2008 12:11

here

DrNortherner · 17/03/2008 12:17

Don't know if I buy that about not touching her because of forensic. The police man who found her had to touch her to remove her. And are you telling me she has not had a bath or a shower yet?

WendyWeber · 17/03/2008 12:20

The man who was holding her has accused the parents of being involved, hasn't he? So they'd be looking for any evidence of that.

Piffle · 17/03/2008 17:48

what do you all read to fi nd out this stuff?
