Oh, lots of kids aren't cute or pretty. That's a fact and doesnt make someone a bad person. I dont personally have an opinion on Shannon MAtthews just thought it was a strange thing to say nice mothers think all children are cute and pretty.

There was a write up in the newspaper saying something along these lines.... BUT a child is a child, just like the poor little girl in Spain that went missing and was sadly found dead.

I hope that the McCans have found some strength in Shannon being found, although 3 weeks is a lot less then a year.

I agree that saying it on this thread was inappropriate to a certain extent but I do agree that part of the reason the Mccanns were able to get so much publicity was because of their backgrounds and Madeliene was pretty. It sells newspapers. I also shouldnt have posted to disagree with you. THis thread isnt the place.

I think it's perfectly valid as a dicussion how the media and public react differently to cases of missing children. Perhaps not on this thread at this time though.

I don't think the media thought Madeleine particularly pretty or cute, Madeleine and Shannon are both ordinary attractive looking little girls, one little girl looks much the same as another don't they? Unless you happen to be the parent of course. I think the media found the Mccanns as a family attractive and obviously their educational background added to that.

i thin kthe ages had something to do with it too and the fact MM was taken from her bed, apparently and SM ran away, apparently.

it also irritates me when someone is injured or killed and people say she/ he was so attractive/ pretty like it matter more if they are attractive... it is tragic whatever the appearance

SOOOOO Glad she is alive.

I worry that she has been through some awful ordeal and has more uncertainty to come for a while whether she ran away to find safety or whether she was abducted, lets just hope she manages to get the help, safety and love that ANY child is entitled to.
