Shock where the hell do you live that a body appears every 3 months?

About 40ish miles from St Michael's, near a weir on a big river.

And honestly you notice everything in the water as if it is a body. We've had a mannequin and a life-size stuffed tiger reported as bodies in the last 12 months, and at least 3 live seal sightings 20 miles inland.

I need to express my distaste for these 4000+ posts speculating and salivating over details. This thread is the worst of mumsnet.

And yet here you are, on this thread! Welcome. 🙂

Itsokay2020 · 08/02/2023 21:35

@Plitvice that’s correct, originally from Essex (small town approx 11 miles from Chelmsford) and the family are fondly remembered despite moving 25 years ago. Old school friends were still in contact with Nikki, and she appears to be a totally relatable woman going about her day like so many of us throughout the UK.

FWIW, I have never believed she is in the water, nor do I believe she has taken her life or left her life behind willingly. The situation with the dog is odd, and I have this niggling feeling that the dog was actually the target and Nikki got in the way. Or perhaps she came across a criminal act and the perpetrators couldn’t afford for her to be a witness.

But I am also the first to admit my thoughts are purely clutching at straws because none of it makes sense, it’s hard to vanish and there is nothing about her background that makes me believe she was unhappy. My thoughts remain with her family and loved ones, as yet another day draws to a close, this must be unbearable.

@ofwarren Thank you for doing a great job today.

puppacup · 08/02/2023 21:37

4000 posts that are very worried and are praying for a good outcome, yes terrible isn’t it that people care.

That's disingenuous, many posters are convinced she was abducted so not a good outcome & some are treating it as a tv drama.

This thread and the ones before is not simply people saying ‘ I hope she’s ok’. It’s unbalanced obsession over details and scenarios.

A big group of them turned up on the property of the house being renovated, the man came out and followed them asking them to leave that it's private property, he said the property was searched, the group said nicola's friend said it wasn't. They kept saying them smelt something bad.

itsnote · 08/02/2023 21:33

@Pootle40 no. That's why I'm bowing out now.

People cba to even do the tiniest bit of back reading before thinking they've come up with the latest theory. They haven't. We've been over it all before. As have the police and anyone else who cares.

Not sure you need to swear at someone though but fair enough will just move along

River Mersey, yes?

It’s been trending all week. So here I am piping in to say it’s awful.

SwishSwishBisch · 08/02/2023 21:39

@itsnote I realise some of you are 5 threads deep in this but not everyone is going to read 4000 odd messages to catch up. I suggest if you want a conversation involving only those who’ve trawled every last message & detail relating to this story, you set up a private group rather than use a public forum open to - surprise surprise - anyone. Or fucking maybe just be less fucking rude in your fucking responses. See? Charming isn’t it.

Itsokay2020 · 08/02/2023 21:39

@Steppedystep you can of course voice your displeasure… just like many of us are voicing our utter bewilderment that a 45 year old mother of two, out walking her dog, has simply disappeared without a trace. It would be even more bewildering if no-one ever mentioned it 🙄

LadyWiddiothethird · 08/02/2023 21:40

@Goldpaw Agreed it is a vile thread and pointless,in no way is it “supporting the family.Just an unpleasant group of people who are loving every second of the drama.

Should all be deleted.

lifeturnsonadime · 08/02/2023 21:41

It's statistically way more likely that she's walked off of her own free will than it was a stranger abduction.

But so many are ruling this out as a possibility.

It is possible that she doesn't want to be found so never will be as well as all of the other possibilities that are being mooted on here.

Steppedystep · 08/02/2023 21:37

This thread and the ones before is not simply people saying ‘ I hope she’s ok’. It’s unbalanced obsession over details and scenarios.

There are also posts saying what a shame it was that the press conference was held at school pick up time, and another saying ooh, looks like a nice place for a walk!!

I hope this lady is found soon. Her poor, poor family.

itsnote · 08/02/2023 21:44

I've been swearing since the start mate. It's fucking exasperating. You can clearly see that this is thread 5 when you click on and instead of thinking 🤔 that's 4000 comments previous, posters actually type, "a springer would follow though, I wonder, has anyone thought of that?"

Fucking ridiculous 🤣 I'm local, it's obviously getting to me by now. Sorry for hurting any sensitive souls with a few fucks.

FollowTheFeeder · 08/02/2023 21:45

The point at which laughing emojis are being used for any reason on a thread about a missing woman is the point at which to stop reading it.

@Itsokay2020 the post Ive quoted is far from what you describe, just as an example. This thread is not a place to express concern and hope. It’s sick. Imagine family and friends reading all this.

pigsinoodies · 08/02/2023 21:45

ofwarren · 08/02/2023 21:31

I need to start the next post with a summary of all the things we already know

  1. There's a gate
  2. The cctv is off at Rowanwater, not Wyresdale

Etc etc 🤣

I was thinking of a detailed Google map with markers, a close up of the gate and the weir, a river level graph, links to her partner's companies' filings (along with my own financial analysis), a map of their former home next to a completely separate caravan park, a fish survey of the lake/pond at Rowanwater, the menu for The Grapes, band a bus timetable from Blackpool and Lancaster.

Too much?

davegrohll · 08/02/2023 21:45

@ofwarren thanks but I don't have fb so I can't view the link !

itsnote · 08/02/2023 21:46

@FollowTheFeeder oh give over.

Not enough - recent data from all river gauge readings as well please.

Why come to a thread and read all the messages in it if you don't approve of what's being discussed?

That comes across as deliberately making yourself offended than if you'd dropped into one thread and thought, good grief, then not read any more.

But no, you keep reading threads you think are disgraceful!
