I need to express my distaste for these 4000+ posts speculating and salivating over details. This thread is the worst of mumsnet.

@Steppedystep

No one is salivating. Don't be ridiculous.

People are being respectful.

it's only natural that people are worried about a 'missing' mum of two, someone who looks lovely & seems like any one of us.

It's certainly not the worst of mumsnet, At All.

Reading threads you don't approve if, certainly isn't compulsory!

puppacup · 08/02/2023 21:48

People are being respectful

Some are, some aren't.

Goldpaw · 08/02/2023 21:49

LadyWiddiothethird · 08/02/2023 21:40

@Goldpaw Agreed it is a vile thread and pointless,in no way is it “supporting the family.Just an unpleasant group of people who are loving every second of the drama.

Should all be deleted.

Hey, don't bring me into your faux outrage.

rwalker · 08/02/2023 21:50

The worse thing is if there was any evidence these trespassing dickheads would probably destroy it

pigsinoodies · 08/02/2023 21:51

Bluebellwood129 · 08/02/2023 21:46

Not enough - recent data from all river gauge readings as well please.

Already on there - 'a river level graph'.

Which I (sadly) find fascinating - because I live by a river.

@ofwarren thanks but I don't have fb so I can't view the link !

I think, most people, myself included, are genuinely worried for this lady and have lots of sympathy for her family. I'm certainly not salvating !! I do think it's good there is such public interest as hopefully it will keep Nicola in the media, yes there are some absolute trolls on the internet and the people turning up at houses etc are completely out of line, but we're not all bonkers !!

Bluebellwood129 · 08/02/2023 21:53

@pigsinoodies apologies! I live reasonably close to a river but I have never thought about checking water levels. I may investigate further.

davegrohll · 08/02/2023 21:54

@ofwarren no I don't but I could probably search it! Sorry I only have Mumsnet

MadAndGlad · 08/02/2023 21:54

Ok, so what was the consensus on why the dog didn't go in after her???? For those of us who don't have time to read all the threads and just trying to help. Why are people on here so bloody nasty?

If she left via the gate it wouldn't be able to go after her.

Goldpaw · 08/02/2023 21:56

During Storm Desmond I did obsessively check the water levels of nearby rivers.

I haven't been on the other threads but I have read them. The whole case it just so baffling.
What's scary is so little trust I have in the police. It all seems a shambles, and after Sarah Everard it did occur to me that perhaps they're hiding something. Now that is pure speculation but it's rather concerning that that was even a thought of mine iyswim.

Pumpkinween · 08/02/2023 21:58

itsnote · 08/02/2023 21:44

I've been swearing since the start mate. It's fucking exasperating. You can clearly see that this is thread 5 when you click on and instead of thinking 🤔 that's 4000 comments previous, posters actually type, "a springer would follow though, I wonder, has anyone thought of that?"

Fucking ridiculous 🤣 I'm local, it's obviously getting to me by now. Sorry for hurting any sensitive souls with a few fucks.

I completely agree, it's infuriating. Every 100 or so posts someone too important to read any of it asks a question that's been answered 50 times.

Just start ignoring them.

WhoNeedsSleepNotISaidMyBody · 08/02/2023 21:59

Steppedystep · 08/02/2023 21:37

This thread and the ones before is not simply people saying ‘ I hope she’s ok’. It’s unbalanced obsession over details and scenarios.

@Steppedystep

It's not unbalanced obsession. People are concerned & trying to make sense of the fact that a woman has seemingly just vanished, but can't have.

no one is accusing anyone or speculating about her life or anything else.

MN doesn't need you policing threads, they're quite capable themselves.

If you don't approve, then feel free to stop posting on it.

There is a similar story in the US where we go on holiday every summer. Oceanside town. 58 year old woman was getting ready to host friends for a Super Bowl party. She had made dough for pizza, left cookies cooling in the kitchen. She told her son, with whom she was FaceTiming at college that she was may go for a walk. When the guests arrived for the party she was no where to be found. Never seen again.

'Trying to help'?

You think that 4000 posts in, and the rest of the internet hypothesising, and you might just bring some new, radical idea based on a dog breed?

tinx · 08/02/2023 22:00

@itsnote “Fucking ridiculous 🤣 I'm local, it's obviously getting to me by now. Sorry for hurting any sensitive souls with a few fucks”

I know it’s not funny but I laughed 😆

it must be a rough time living local to all of this I have read all 4 past threads first time posting

hope Nicola is found ❤️

Poor woman
Just awful for the relations when there is no closure.

My mother knows about this case and she lives abroad. It has been reported in the newspaper there.

I actually think the family is probably grateful that people are discussing this case and trying to find out what happened to Nicola.

Of course bullying, harassing and breaking into properties is obviously so wrong, but cases like this will always attract lunatics.
