But my point is that at least four other people were walking in that area during the 35 minutes Nicola was there. Suddenly after the phone and dog was found no one else noticed a tied up dog and a phone left on a bench. It doesn't make sense. The police were there in the afternoon so obviously were on high alert.

Its the period from 9:33 until 10:50 which is concerning - a long time (added on to 9:10 last sighting).

Do we think that the woman who tied the dog up went back to the bench to see if it was still there at 10:50 and then called her DIL / School / PA / Police?

I think this is a very significant move.

Its saying to me that PA is aligning with PF and has lost confidence with the police.

Is it odd that the friend Emma White was there rather than NB or PA family to support him?

I agree he is showing support for PF. Which is why I think PF is doing media with his blessing .

No, but they have publicly confirmed they believe the public is not at risk, there is no foul play and she is likely to be in the river. That is a shit load of baseless assumptions without a shred of supporting evidence.

That you know of.

this is not a show for our entertainment. Of course there is stuff behind the scenes that we don’t know.

Blessedwithsunshine · 08/02/2023 11:51

The last one is more likely.
The police have approached this case with a basic assumption about the river. They haven’t taken the necessary or correct steps to cordon off the area, gather evidence and treat it as a crime scene because all along they have been treating the case like an accident.

And it might still be an accident. But what if isn’t.

Only now are the police are enquiring about enemies and stalkers. Only now are they finally considering another angle - 12 days later. This should have been done from the very first moment the emergency services arrived.
They are sticking with it now because heads will roll if god forbid their incompetence becomes public knowledge. It’s the same reason they are telling us all to shut up, because it’s hurtful to the family, and coming out publicly to say she is in the river, despite Nicolas family saying otherwise. They want this case to fade away quickly.

Only now are the police are enquiring about enemies and stalkers.

Are they? When have the police publicly made this statement?

In this video, it is clear that the water is ankle deep at the edge at least. I don't think is right next to the bench though, possibly upstream. However, it is abundantly obvious that this is not a fast flowing river. twitter.com/AnnaYoussefITV/status/1623285358765932549?cxt=HHwWioCwpd3biIctAAAA

This morning. I will find a link.

"It’s odd because she waited so long to do it. 45 minutes later.
If she was concerned about Nicola why didn’t she call someone immediately or very soon after? And if she wasn’t concerned why call anyone at all?"

The context of the call hasn't been released. She could've been ringing her DIL for anything and then mentioned it in passing.

Eg. Just had my appointment. Doctor says bloods are normal. I can pick Daisy up from school this afternoon. Guess what? I found that dog running loose again, the brown spaniel? Tied it up, it should be on a bloody lead. It was a bit weird because there was a phone on the floor with a photo of that woman from Daisy's school, 2 young girls?"........DIL that's Nicola and Willow, I better ring school and they can check she's ok.

Same with the "play date". This was a text sent to a friend who's mortgage she had arranged just the night before. The text could've been something like,

"Hi, thanks for sorting my mortgage. What a relief. Anyway, do you fancy getting together with the kids at half term, we could go bowling, my treat".....Nicola "Yes, sounds good"

By the same token the woman could've rang her DIL worried because she'd had to leave in a hurry but something felt off and Nicola could've instigated the play date conversation.

My point is there are many explanations and nothing points to one obvious outcome at this point.

Initially it seemed obvious she was in the water. Now it seems much less likely.

Exactly. Not everyone acts the same and not everyone immediately jumps to the conclusion that something dreadful has happened immediately. People seem to be trying to find everything little thing suspicious.

That's just the 'mum' uniform on the school run round here.
Hair tied up, black puffer coat, jeans and boots.

Someone on websleuths has mentioned how someone was spamming her FB page with religious crap, and they’ve researched who it is and it’s a convicted rapist who was eligible for parole in 2018. Anyone else read anything about this ? Presumably this has been thoroughly investigated already but it’s pretty horrendous, is this why she changed her FB settings to private? I don’t know how true this is as I’m not going into her FB page but wondered if this was talked about elsewhere

The river level would have been about 8cm higher and the water slightly faster flowing on Jan 27. No vast difference though.

Bluebellwood129 · 08/02/2023 12:20

@melonraspberry There is all kinds of crap doing the rounds - similar to people trying to make a link between Nicola's ex husband and someone following her on Strava. Crazy,

I vaguely remember someone mentioning it last week.
It's more than likely just unsubstantiated bollocks.
I'm sure the police would look into it if it's been reported.

Was the dog found tied up though when the alarm was raised?

I thought the woman who initially found the dog said she tied it up to the bench and put the phone on there and went into an appointment but also thought I read that when the alarm was raised after the call from her DIL to Nicola's partner that it was found running loose in the field above?

If so how did it get loose again and could that explain why the harness was found between the river and the bench as the dog was so agitated it managed to wriggle out of it. Was the lead found tied to the bench AFTER the woman had said she'd tied it up?

I read it was found left on the bench after the alarm had been raised.

Can anyone clarify?

That's not the police enquiring, it's Peter Faulding the search expert.

The story you linked to doesn't say that at all.

And if she was hurt or in the water I wonder why the dog didn’t follow her in, most dogs will have been frantic. And barking.

I have seen this mentioned and I agree some dogs would be frantic - but plenty more wouldn’t - mine would just wander off or hang about without getting frantic, she by nature is very calm .

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/02/2023 12:22

I think the Police have had tunnel vision from the start.. Frequent dog Walker by a river therefore she must've fallen in, but to me if you know an area so well you are less likely too unless Willow ran and sent her flying
Obviously they have been making enquiries in other areas which they wouldn't divulge but actually the Police responded reasonably quickly to a missing person report, which makes me wonder if she is Vulnerable.
Her car keys haven't been mentioned either
I just hope the police have a breakthrough soon

Nicknacky · 08/02/2023 12:22

@Blessedwithsunshine He isn’t a police officer

Badger1970 · 08/02/2023 12:22

I've got 2 spaniels and they wouldn't leave the spot where they saw me last.

I've hidden from them a few times to check! Spaniels are very intelligent dogs and incredibly owner focused.

Blessedwithsunshine · 08/02/2023 12:24

Peter Faulding has basically said that questions need to be asked about ‘third party’ involvement. The police are still making enquiries.

Thank you @Badger1970 for explaining about spaniels . Above in my reply to @Blessedwithsunshine i hadn’t previously heard that about the breed.

So no the police have not now asked about enemies or stalkers.

This is a report about the speculation of the diver - who has ZERO criminal investigation experience.

I know google maps isn't up to date or anything.

But that river seems very twisty, seems to have multiple fallen trees across it in parts, and a lot of very shallow/sandy places.

I don't mean to be graphic but wouldn't she be near the surface by now? If she had drifted much further wouldn't she have been caught on soem branches/ been spotted in the shallows?

In cold weather the decomposition process is slowed to the point a body may not float for six weeks and even then, still be just below the surface.

I think she was taken as she was on that conference call. She is slight and attractive and also had done this walk before so may have been targeted. The dog running between the gate and the phone on the ground by the bench was because the dog was torn between where she had last seen Nicola and the phone which would smell of her.
