I couldn't see another post so thought I'd create one.

There is a police press conference this afternoon. I can't see a time for this but it's sounding like a routine one.

The shallow and slow moving water, with nobody spotting her when they found the dog or since though, is really baffling me. If she had tragically drowned in an accident in that specific stretch of water then she logically should not have moved very far.
very short time frame between last sighting and finding the dog and phone on bench,
she was reported missing very early too.
if she fell she would have been found eventually.

ofwarren · 07/02/2023 21:58

Is it true she left her car keys in the car?
I've read a few people saying that on Facebook.
Seems a bit strange if true.

The only thing I can think is that when diving its pitch black even with lights, and they are practically blind down there, and maybe missed her.

@Whichusernametocreate some person on Twitter or Facebook seemingly looked his company up on some kind of companies website. All speculation but he and Nicola were directors of companies that hadn't submitted accounts. They also owned a caravan on a local site that was used as a business address. Don't know how accurate this info is and seems pretty distasteful tbh.

The accounts are on companies House website just search under her name and you’ll find them. I work in accountancy and it’s not thst unheard of for ppl to get a proposal to strike off due to non filing of accounts. It doesn’t necessarily mean financial trouble, some people are just disorganised at sorting stuff

Jesus wept, this case sure is bringing out the crazies, there are some truly bonkers comments going around. Soon someone will be accusing the lady in the yellow coat of taking off with Nicola in her pram.

Oh I don't know. This is Mumsnet. I am expecting a thread about how it is the dogs fault, and proves that dogs are dangerous.

There was mention, when she first went missing, of her keys being attached to the dog’s collar (or harness?) which did seem really strange but I haven’t seen any more comments on that so maybe a mistake.

If she wasn't going back to her car then she wouldn't need them and that points to one conclusion for me which is maybe why the police are convinced she's in the river, perhaps that and other evidence they may have?

It isn’t very deep water. Visibility is probably poor due to vegetation and churned up silt though. The sonar gets round that problem.

I don't think that is especially strange . The dog harness was normally removed during the walk and some people don't carry keys in their pockets as they make holes in the material.

What did the police mean when they mentioned ‘vile’ things being said on social media? What vile things are being said?

YogaLite · 07/02/2023 22:05

I was really upset when the press conference was approaching as I thought they found something.

If I am so upset, the family must be absolutely devastated 🙁

Disappointed to read just now that SGI won't be able to get into reeds with their equipment, I really hope the equipment will still "see" through reeds even if they don't go into them.

I get what you are saying
It's possibly bollocks though, you know what Facebook is like.
Vix is correct on the previous post, there was talk of keys on the dogs collar early on. I don't think any of this has been confirmed.

it was in the local news now about a woman that disappeared 6 months ago, doubt there is so much police presence comparing to nikki’s case. I guess the scenarios are different as this woman didnt have little kids but she did have family who are worried about her, what if with nikki it’s the same? She just doesn’t want to be seen and has gone away without leaving any trace? Has it been mentioned whether her passport is at home?

There's cctv though showing her go in to the area of river but no cctv of her coming out so she clearly didn't leave that area

The post will get pulled if we discuss the vile things.
Mainly blaming family for her disappearance.

Looking at that map posted a couple of pages back, I hope they started looking in the river from around the point she was last seen and didn't start by the bench because that's a chunk of river missed otherwise.

Someone else (maybe who hasn't come forward) could have found the items at that part and left them on the bench for easy finding.

I walk along canals a lot and see things people have dropped picked up by others and left on fences and benches quite often. I've done it myself, although I might think twice about leaving a phone rather than trying to locate the owner or handing it in.

Sadly after the fundraiser fiasco lastnight it's no surprise that happened in all honesty because it did look really dodgy even if done in all innocence.

There is a lady in twitter based in IE that she’s became obsessed with this story mainly blaming the family for disappearance and how happy they seem that nIKKI has disappeared. I’ve reported her but twitter apparently doesnt think bad about her. Things like the ones this lady says are the ones the police are referring about

Sadly I think accidental fall.
Too many people (not on here) are treating it like a true crime who done it podcast when actually the real event is far more mundane but tragic. Drownings are incredibly frequent and many are not given the same publicity as this case.
Sadly I doubt they'll find her body. The size of the Wyre estuary at Fleetwood plus the strong dangerous undercurrents will make the search logistically very difficult.

Eventually her body will float to the top though

Wetblanket78 · 07/02/2023 22:11

Remember that student went missing on a night out? She was seen on CCTV before the bridge but wasn't seen on the other side? Police were right she had fallen into the water. Always puzzled me that one. When your on a night out you stick together and look out for one another. Non of us will be walking behind everyone else on they're own. How did not one of them see her before she went over and grab hold of her?

"While refusing to rule out foul play, the senior investigating officer in the search for missing Nicola Bulley, has admitted that it was possible she had walked away from the scene unnoticed."

That's right. Poor souls, it was awful, and a good while before she was found, poor lady. She'd seemed fine over Christmas, but of course, she mustn't have been. I remember it because l used to work in Ponteland, and my friend lived quite close to her.
I think (it was a long time ago, so l may be wrong) that the CCTV was in the city centre, before she actually reached the quayside but there was a blind camera spot on the quayside, and they believed (once she was eventually found) that that was likely where she'd entered the water.
I lost a parent to suicide, but they were found the next day. Still awful, but thank goodness we didn't have weeks of uncertainty. That was bad enough.
Ambiguous loss is horrendous. It happened with a friend of mine a few years ago, and it was a few months before they were found in very tragic circumstances.

dawngreen · 07/02/2023 22:17

I would never attach keys to a dog for the simple reason they run through bushes etc, and its a invitation to any weirdo to grab your dog and take the keys.
