Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 3

I couldn't see another post so thought I'd create one.

There is a police press conference this afternoon. I can't see a time for this but it's sounding like a routine one.

PF did say that his sonar equipment cannot get beneath tree root growth so he will have to send divers into the water tomorrow. He looks a bit embarrassed about making bold claims and not faring any better so to preserve his reputation, it is in his interest to suggest that she wasn't in there.

I think it’s come time to reasonably assume she didn’t fall into the river and drown. So the police need to say they are continuing to examine all avenues but still searching the river and banks.

if she didn’t fall in and drown though it means it is hugely likely someone, which could be her or not, placed that stuff and the dog there to misdirect the police . As said on the other thread, it feels staged to me.

I saw someone on Twitter wrote, if she didn’t accidentally drown, it limits the options to four.

she was abducted/murdered by someone.
shes decided to disappear and doesn’t wish to be found.
it’s a scam, like Shannon Mathews, hence the 100k go fund me, and she’s part of it.
its a mix of the first and third,,it’s a scam, like Shannon Mathews, hence the 100k go fund me, but she’s not part of it, and some one has hurt her then tried to get money,

and I think I agree. I can’t think of another option, so if she didn’t fall in and drown, it’s likely one of those four options.

You forgot one. Suicide is a possibility

@BlueSphere in your post about PF slipping up and blurting out info of Nicola being in the water you said that he may have compromised the investigation, can you expand on that? I understand where you are coming from that it's the wrong way to word it but I can't see how it would compromise it (respectfully)

I don't really know if he has, or may have compromised anything.

I'm however surprised that the Daily Mail has edited the video so that the footage showing PF's reference of NB "in the water" is no longer there. The way they edited the it is a bit rough and the jump in the footage is noticeable, if you watch it from about 30s in.

I am speculating that the DM have been asked/told to remove his comment about NB in the water. If this did happen, perhaps the police don't want this information out in the general public.

I think the police will have evidence we don't know about, they keep their cards close to their chest. Libby Squire went missing in my city, they has a suspect way before the public knew there was one, or anyone even seen in the area for that matter. They was keeping tabs on him and gathering evidence and didn't want to spook him into running if I remember rightly.

She was put in the river hull and ended up in the much bigger river humber and wasn't found for 7 weeks, it was tragic.

I hope Nicola doesn't have the same fate, her poor girls and family!

I remember this case 😔 I followed it for weeks on Twitter as it was the only place in the end where there were any updates, it was gone from the news due to how long it took to find her.

It took 4 weeks to find the person local to me in the river but that was with a way smaller search team than this one. There was also a man went missing on an island near me beside a fast flowing river.. his dog was found but it was assumed he’d fell in and would be out at sea very quickly. He was found within the week washed up on a beach 15 miles away 😔

I so hope they get answers but I really don’t think they’re going to find her in there

Dejavu23 · 07/02/2023 19:50

I’m thinking there is only one reason why I would let go of my phone and that’s if I didn’t want it to get wet.

pigsinoodies · 07/02/2023 19:51

itsnote · 07/02/2023 19:43

"Sorry if this has been mentioned already and if I'm being a bit dim here but why are they searching UPstream? Surely a body would float DOWNstream towards the sea?"

Tides ebb and flow and nobody knows exactly where she might've fallen in.

Tides don't ebb and flow over a weir and into a section of river where the water level has been virtually static.

How high is that bridge from the water? Is it possible that she walked to the bridge and jumped off it?

I might put mine down, if I was holding it, if i needed to catch my dog.

Togoodtobeforgotten · 07/02/2023 19:52

And perhaps that's why they need dashcam footage?

And this happened locally to me 12 years ago too when a lady in her 20s went missing from a nightclub and whilst they were searching a local forest, they were also gathering more evidence about their suspect. Which I don’t think was mentioned to the general public.
I hope her family get some answers soon.

We all read body language differently. I didn’t see any embarrassment. I see a man trying to help, who is answering questions on request, giving the benefit of his expertise and who is being abused by random low life’s for the effort.

so many people being abused and insulted now. I’m horrified at it. Those who saw her, her family, her friends, people partnering in the search. All getting abused as they didn’t apparently behave as some low life expects

i was finding the whole case concerning, thought provoking, and wanted to discuss it. Now It’s hardly possible, as people have joined to harass and bully those they see as trying to help.

it’s beyond shameful.

itsnote · 07/02/2023 19:57

@pigsinoodies that part of the river does actually flood (it hasn't in recent weeks) and it's only today we're seeing slightly higher tides.

But my answer to the pps question is that in a tidal river you would search both up and downstream due to the ebb and flow of the tides. Of course, in this case they don't know where she might've fallen in if that is what's happened, it could easily be upstream.

itsnote · 07/02/2023 19:58

I leave my phone lying all over the place. Not everyone is glued to it all of the time

MTIH · 07/02/2023 19:59

This man was missing for over a month, sadly found in the river very recently. Time taken to find him.

www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/23305883.body-found-search-missing-ripon-man-gavin-dhont/

Perhaps the media and public interest has made Nicola Bulley’s case more difficult the speculation, the friends speaking out, the picking over, the police being scrutinised.

The investigation into this missing man has, in contrast, been really low key.

Messyhair321 · 07/02/2023 20:00

I think it's weird though that the dog was running around freely, surely if she was abducted the dog would follow her? Dogs normally stay with their owners on a walk. And the phone conference was still running, if she was going to go to the river surely she'd have said to the group that she wants just going to do this.
It's like she's vanished. Very unsettling.

kirinm · 07/02/2023 20:00

I wonder - did she voluntarily go into the river? The phone has been left because she doesn't need it. No signs of slipping etc - because she didn't slip?

Doris86 · 07/02/2023 20:00

It is all rather bizarre. If it is a crime it sounds like a perfect one. No witnesses or cctv of what happened. Misdirecting the police by placing some items on the bench, such that waste 10 days searching the river and don’t preserve the area as a crime scene, meaning any evidence is destroyed.

But then maybe it is a tragic accident, but why has no trace of her been found?

Notsurenotquiteright · 07/02/2023 20:03

A theory of why the dog is dry but she may have fallen into the water.

she started her teams call at 9:01 maybe she was distracted by logging into the call and took her eye off the dog, the last time she checked the dog was heading to the waters edge.she calls the dog but they don’t come back- she panics that the dog is in the water and ventures to look for her.
slips in.
dog returns doesnt know where owner is and waits.

I did think about this too- wondered if she just calmly got in the water and swam towards the sea

itsnote · 07/02/2023 20:04

"She was on a conference call though wasn't she?"

A teams call. It could've been training or some other corporate bullshit she didn't need to listen to. Not unusual

itsnote · 07/02/2023 20:05

"I did think about this too- wondered if she just calmly got in the water and swam towards the sea"

What? About 15 miles along a meandering river at low tide? And nobody saw that?

Ridiculous

OneFrenchEgg · 07/02/2023 20:08

itsnote · 07/02/2023 19:21

"Can anyone local tell me the time it would take to get from where she was last seen in the field to where the phone was found on a bench?"

1 minute. If that.

Thank you, that's helpful trying to get my head round it.

Karen398 · 07/02/2023 20:09

Sadly even with police searching bodies can take a while to be found in water. In one case a man was missing for 10 months in a documentary I watched recently
