I couldn't see another post so thought I'd create one.

There is a police press conference this afternoon. I can't see a time for this but it's sounding like a routine one.

Why do you need to know exactly what they know?
They said she's in the river but they're looking for dashcam footage from the road. Why?

Is it deep enough for a dinghy, could it travel down stream to the estuary and then transfer to larger boat, speed boat for example.

Not without being noticed somewhere. There are lots of caravan parks and houses on the wyre. It would stand out like a sore thumb.

@BilingualDog I haven’t swum the length of it, but the parts I swam in would be up to my shoulders, I'm 5 foot 10.

Did you actually watch the press conference?

Sparkleshine21 · 07/02/2023 19:04

@BilingualDog maybe my waist height actually 🤔 not sure about how deep it goes as it does wind around before the bench where Nicolas phone was found.

Presumably you've seem the pictures of them doing the sonar scan from boats?

They'd have to get over the weir though.

Do you not think it's a bit far-fetched anyway? Just a tad maybe?

Not me.

Sorry I didn't mean you. One or two trying to believe the police are playing some clever game.

Oh FFS

Bluebellwood129 · 07/02/2023 19:09

I think her dog stayed where it last saw her.
It was mentioned somewhere that when Willow was taken back to the scene, she repeatedly focused on the gate not the bench or the river - I can't find that now though, only that she was definitely taken back there.

ColadhSamh · 07/02/2023 19:09

A person near where I am at the moment was seen entering a local river. Searches went on the body for almost 2 weeks
The body was found just under 2 weeks later on a beach 40 miles away. It had traveled down the river into the estuary and found near where the estuary becomes the Atlantic. So bodies do travel along rivers etc

I've reported you for accusing husband of a crime.

I'd accept any help, no matter how controversial.

There have been absolutely loads of 'psychics' chiming in with their visions, one of them complained that the police told him they were only interested in facts.

I bet the police are fielding calls left, right and centre from people who think they're psychic, people who think they are dog behaviour experts, people who want to ask if she was wearing AirPods or have they searched the abandoned house or why don't they take the dog back to the area around the bench. I know people just want to help but it must be a huge waste of time and resources.

LeatherSoledShoes · 07/02/2023 19:13

That specialist diver chap needs to keep his mouth shut.

I've just watched a really unprofessional interview where he appears to have a case of verbal diarrhoea, unlike the senior female police officer who was really measured and professional at the press conference.

OneFrenchEgg · 07/02/2023 19:14

Can anyone local tell me the time it would take to get from where she was last seen in the field to where the phone was found on a bench? I've read the thread and some news articles just can't work that bit out.

GrasstrackGirl · 07/02/2023 19:14

I read that there was some drama with the gofundme, can anyone elaborate?

Obviously they can travel along rivers but not far until they bloat up and gain some buoyancy.

There was a chap fell/jumped into the Mersey (much bigger than the Wyre) in Manchester last November and was pulled out about 15 miles away in January.

The family have continued to say that they don't believe she was in the water. They even set up a Gofundme last night somewhat misguidedly. So no, the police haven't told the family if they have evidence that she is.

They may have told the family she went in the water but the family doesn't believe she is still in the water. Maybe the evidence the police have that NB went into the river is private, sensitive and they don't want the public to know.

It seems that NB has in fact entered the water, the police are likely to have evidence for this (hence Peter Faulding's slip up and his change of mind the his team started the search yesterday morning).

She has entered the water but opinions and theories on where she is now are divided. Peter Faulding is convinced that if she was still in the water his team would have found her by now. The police on the other hand stick with 'she is still in the river'. The family are unsure but seem to believe Peter Faulding and his expertise.

Based on this

She has entered the water and drowned but doesn't seem the case based on evidence

She entered the water drowned and someone removed her form the water (unlikely Hmm )

She went in the water, crossed the river or part of the river either by herself or with someone but she got out alive and is somewhere else now.

Stop that. This case is public and everyone can express their opinion. She didn't say that husband did something. It's the same when I mentioned that sister's body language was weird on interview and MN removed my comments.

MN is the same like other tabloids - getting lots of "clicks" from this tragedy.

A GFM was set up for £100,000 people went woah that's a high target and it was swiftly reduced to £50,000, then further reduced to £5,000 then suspended. The organiser, who calls herself a family friend but we don't know how close they actually are, then apologised and said the family didn't know it was going ahead.

I think it was a storm in a teacup. Someone trying to do a good thing who got a bit overexcited at the stage of putting a target in. To be fair these high profile cases generally do reach tens if not hundreds of thousands so I imagine she just has no experience of GFM other than hearing about Captain Tom etc and thought that was a totally usual target figure.

People online have been checking out the partner, apparently their business is in the process of folding and he quit his job yesterday, but I don't know how accurate that is and even if it is, I'm sure all those wheels had been set in motion long before any of this happened.

Grizzledstrawberry · 07/02/2023 19:20

I think the police will have evidence we don't know about, they keep their cards close to their chest. Libby Squire went missing in my city, they has a suspect way before the public knew there was one, or anyone even seen in the area for that matter. They was keeping tabs on him and gathering evidence and didn't want to spook him into running if I remember rightly.

She was put in the river hull and ended up in the much bigger river humber and wasn't found for 7 weeks, it was tragic.

I hope Nicola doesn't have the same fate, her poor girls and family!

1 minute. If that.

Why would I take instructions from you? The thread on chat was deleted because of accusations against the family.

JaneJeffer · 07/02/2023 19:23

Yes I did @Nicknacky hence my question.
