Gosh the live Facebook thread is carnage people keep interjecting with their own interpretations. So hard to follow what's going on.

Not seen the fb page but I think the order stays? Hospital to withdraw, no UN appeal agreed.

LouisRenault · 01/08/2022 16:03

It's all being discussed now..apparently the argument been put across about him being stable enough he could wait longer but been told thats not true..

What would be the point in waiting longer? The argument is about Archie's best interests. How could it be in his best interests to drag this out any longer?

As to the 'beating heart' argument, surely what matters to Christians is the soul. And Archie's soul departed long ago. (Soul or consciousness or personality or spirit or whatever term you want to use for whatever it was that made him 'Archie', a unique human being.)

I wonder if, with our low child mortality (which is a very good thing) we have become removed from children dying. What used to be common place is now rare, most people don’t know a child that has died.

That and the line ‘no parent should go through this’, again ideally no, but it does happen. I think it strengthens the denial that this is actually happening.

I have sympathy for all apart from the CLC, Hollie is being played.

That too. It's obviously completely tragic but unfortunately children do die, from all sorts of causes. In an ideal world we could always save them and no child would ever die or be harmed or become ill, but we don’t.

That's how it sounds. Down to the Courts to decide? Which they already have?

SunflowerGardens · 01/08/2022 16:06

Decision a short stay until 12 noon, 2nd August, further applications dismissed

Quia · 01/08/2022 16:07

Someone said upthread though that they can still appeal to the Supreme Court?

BreadInCaptivity · 01/08/2022 16:08

Joshua Rosenberg on Twitter:

McFarlane: application for further stay refused, except for short stay until 12 noon tomorrow.

I hope Archie’s family now use his final hours to be with him and say their goodbyes, and give him the peaceful send off which he deserves.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 01/08/2022 16:08

Is that it now? Or can they try someone else? Know felt had to try but must feel a waste of time. Time could've been spent with him. Hopefully now they will!

BongoJim · 01/08/2022 16:09

Hopefully the army won't mobilise some awful protest before tomorrow lunchtime.

Ridiculous.

The ruling should have been for immediate withdrawal. Now CLC will be preparing an appeal to the Supreme Court and whipping up even more of a frenzy quoting UN injunctions etc.

No way his life support will be withdrawn tomorrow.

I can’t see why they wouldn’t be allowed to ask the Supreme Court for permission. I expect the Supreme Court will say no.

I believe They've already exhausted that one?

I think we already know though that this means nothing. They can appeal to the Supreme Court next.

This isn’t over by a long way.

I agree.

The circus continues and the poor boy still isn’t allowed to finally be at rest.

Nothing is going to change no matter what tactic those Christian lawyers try. The outcome has been set in stone since the 7 April.

BongoJim · 01/08/2022 16:11

No that was for the withdrawal of treatment. This is to enable the UN to consider.

DoubleShotEspresso · 01/08/2022 16:13

Odd as Sky news are reporting that a "decision is expected this afternoon "

DoubleShotEspresso · 01/08/2022 16:14

So yes just until noon tomorrow.
I guess the court are permitting the family to say goodbye.

RoobarbandCustud · 01/08/2022 16:14

Joshua Rosenberg just tweeted the removal of ventilation will be delayed until 12noon tomorrow to give Archie's family some time with him.

The courts are bending over backwards to be reasonable , to give the parents every hearing, and to be seen to do both those things.

If they’d stuck with a withdrawal time to day, it would have been very rushed, so they’ve gone with an option that at least provides the possibility of calm and dignity. I hope the family can make the mental shift overnight and that the so-called “army” stand down.

Lady Justice King and Lord Justice Moylan agree.

Court adjourned until 4.30pm so parents can be advised on possibility of a further appeal to the Supreme Court.
