I'm not a bot.

Was just trying to find out a bit more about the situation, build-up of current events beyond the surface information.

Found a lot of information from late last year (leaked Pandora Papers) - of course like all news it's Hmm

but he isn't some naïve young actor with a cute architect wife who accidentally fell into politics whilst playing Paddington?

Got my flameproof suit on but I just think in terms of information (especially as some Mumsnetters are probably using this forum as a primary source of information) it's useful to try to have a complete picture if you're thinking about how to engage with a situation that you're learning about.

Everyone comes into a situation from a different angle - I'm personally fairly uneasy with backing policies that put myself and people on the breadline at risk, by a multi-millionaire with substantial assets abroad with links to a billionaire who is already sanctioned by the EU and the US (awaits flaming).

(am I the only one who is hunting down a source of "unbiased news" regularly?)

I'm sure the regular media is aware of this and when it suits the narrative/story arc they'll bring it up again.

The U.K. Russian Embassy tweeted that the bombing of the maternity hospital was fake and that the pregnant women being stretchered out were actors in make-up.

The sort of desperate level of conspiracy theory that is wheeled out for every terrible event. Crisis actors at Sandy Hook and the bombing of the Boston marathon. However, some people do fall for this shit over and over.

Twitter deleted them as spreading false information.

@Skiptheheartsandflowers

The same BBC who reported on WMD in Iraq?
OK.

@HesGotHisTrombole

That you Vladimir?
😂😂😂
noblegiraffe · 11/03/2022 11:29

gullible do you believe the U.K. Russian Embassy’s claim that Ukraine used pregnant actors in make-up to fake a bombing of a maternity hospital?

Do you believe Russian’s foreign minister’s claim that they haven’t attacked Ukraine?

Do you believe Putin when he says they haven’t targeted civilians?

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 11/03/2022 12:09

@noblegiraffe Ofc Russia used excuses like this in Syria which the people on here banging on about the Global South are ignoring (wrong kind of Brown Body I guess). It's just now they're starting it on Europeans.

Sure. I don't think anyone would say the BBC is perfect or infallible. They still provide some useful resources. Isn't the line that we all need to read widely, contextualize our sources, not judge on isolated instances or a narrow basis? I said they were a starting point, not the be all and end all. And you still haven't posted any actual links or sources for your earlier observation... look forward to you providing a range of contrasting and comparative references for that.

Troll farm workers are trapped for life. They know too much. What percentage of people escape a mafia alive having worked for it? What happens to people who can't rise to the top of the pyramid where you can only rise by demonstrating the upmost cruelty and despising of human life but there will never be enough places for the bottom rungs to rise however much they demean themselves? We've seen how the oligarchs who tried to break away have been variously murdered, what chance for a lowly farm worker?

Such people filled Stalin's Gulags in the 1930s, and were joined in the next decades by returning Russian prisoners of war, military and civilian, who were exiled, if not sentenced to death, as the leaders' paranoia grew and grew.

I send compassion to any farm worker, most will be as much victims as the young Russians from impoverished areas who signed up to the army with so little other choice for work or the paperless migrant workers in Russia from former Soviet states now being promised a passport for army service.

It's so so sad that a country such as Russia with the talent and resources to be a country that people would aspire to be a part of has again seen aggression and paranoia rise to the top and wreak havoc on its own self and its former lands.

@Igneococcus

The few times I noticed your username in posts Hawkins001 it's been pretty much always telling someone off for not fullfilling your high standards of debate, but I've never noticed much evidence that you do engage in a discussion using your beloved Socratic method.

Do you think the OP cares about the Socratic method?

It's a mix, and the reason I advocated debate but don't always engage myself, is that I'm still learning about what topics are part of the debate, as when I've debated before, if I'm not clued up on x perspectives I feel I'm just waffling and making a pickle.

Not sure about the ops perspectives in relation to the Socratic method, on the mi6 thread, but it would of hopefully helped if people had debated and answered the question, yes some people did and I did not due to lacking contextual information to be able to analyse the tweet , confidently.

@Skiptheheartsandflowers, I'm not on Twitter. I do read various news sources and read the BTL comments, few people if any are pro-Putin. They seem to be anti-something else IYSWIM.

Putin is a cunt and he looks like Envy.

Butterfly44 · 12/03/2022 02:26

Wow amazed you're concerned about the president's financial dealings and not the current state of killings, bombings and refugee crisis. In each post you've completely ignored anyone calling on that and referring to your links. What a nice person you must be. Really comes across Hmm
