who is the aunt and what is she saying??
it is very intriguing...

wheresthehamster · 05/12/2007 15:45

The aunt was on the news earlier and looked like a cross between Thora Hird and Dandy Nichols

Did you hear the item about this on the Radio 4 PM programme? There was a reporter in Panama trying to get hold of the wife but she did not appear to be at home. Eddie Mair asked the reporter, "Where could she have disappeared to? Does she have a canoe?" I love that man!

I suppose it's possible that when the Panama photo of them together was taken he was fine but then he had another bump over the head in the last month or two and he did lose his memory. If they planned to escape to Panama then why not both just escape there. Why return to the UK? Some press reports said he had had an internet romance with another woman.

bossybritches · 06/12/2007 08:15

Aha!!

Hulababy · 06/12/2007 08:24

According to news headline on TV the wife has now admitted that she knew he was alive.

bossybritches · 06/12/2007 08:25

Yup she knew all along....

Hulababy · 06/12/2007 08:29

I feel for their family - their children, the man's parents, etc. How do they deal with all this - being lied to and all that grief, for what

Hulababy · 06/12/2007 08:32

She is saying that she didn't know right from the start and that for a while she did believe her husband had died. But that she has known he was alive also for a fair while too.

bossybritches · 06/12/2007 08:42

What a muckingfuddle-I think the sons /dad are the ones who'll suffer most.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 06/12/2007 09:15

I wonder how much she got for her interviews?

I feel sorry for his father and their children.

allIWannaBeForChristmas · 06/12/2007 09:29

feel sorry for the kids too, and they said in the artacle that "she didn't know when she would be able to return to Panama" erm surely never? given the apartment was purchased as a result of fraud, it will be sold surely? not allowed to prophet from a crime and all that.

wheresthehamster · 06/12/2007 10:01

It's like they wanted to be found out -
why pose for the photo?
why walk into a police station?

Judy1234 · 06/12/2007 11:24

I don't think we know whom to believe. The houses were put in the son's name. She's now saying her sons didn't know but how can anyone believe that given the earlier lies? They have certainly all got themselves into a mess.

bossybritches · 06/12/2007 12:20

I keep remembering my old nan's favourite phrase (actually one of many she trotted out)

"oh what a fearful web we weave when once we practice to deceive"

You have to be quite clever to keep up complicated lies for a long time.....they clearly aren't!!

Call me a nasty and suspicious person but personally I think both Mum, Dad AND the sons are all in it up to their eyeballs. Both their sons are financial whizzkids apparently and BOTH have very suspiciously left jobs in the last year - one of them three months ago - interestingly just as the police started investigating.

I could be very wrong of course but it all sounds a bit suspect to me.

WaynettALotOfMincePies · 06/12/2007 12:27

If the sons are innocent in all this then both parents should hang their heads in shame - how dare anyone do that to their own children.??
