There is always the possibility that he had mental health issues, depression etc, when he disappeared but of course we all just think the worst and call him names..

so if the body was never found, is it possible she could never marry again? am curious now.

also wonder if the wife would go back to him now that he's back, esp if he'd been suffering from amnesia so the disappearance wasn't deliberate. after presumably she'd moved on but may never actually have stopped loving him.

I think a person has to be missing for a period of time ... is it six years? .. then you can go off and marry someone richer/better looking, etc!

Which is what you should have done the first time around!

In cases like this I thought it was after 7 years that by law you can presume someone is dead and then you are free to marry, claim insurances etc. However it says that their houses were recently sold, which I would have assummed that they would be in both names.

Presumably she's sold the house that they lived in, so he has no assets left? Claimed to what she was entitled to as a widow? Were there any children?

well apparently they owned two victorian terraced houses next to each other - one to live in, one to do up and sell and she has sold them both and emigrated
