Lord knows maybe they're all in it together??

donnie · 07/12/2007 13:38

the sons were definitely in on the whole thing - why have they suddenly jacked their jobs in etc? and if the wife ( as if) was amazed to 'discover' that her husband was alive after all, would she have continued to pretend to her sons that he was still dead? it's a load of ill-conceived cobblers!

I find the whole thing enormously amusing in that they have bungled it so badly and made themselves an international laughing stock!!! if you are going to try something like this do it properly, no?

most amusing of all is the fact that we aren't even talking big sums of money here- less than half a mill if I am correct. Tossers!!

TheIceQueen · 07/12/2007 15:12

hang on the house sold for just under 1/2 million - but we don't know how much life insurance, pensions etc etc he had do we?

And if they altogether made a substantial sum there's nothing to say that the mother couldn't have given the son's their share of the "inheritance".........

honeyhoney · 07/12/2007 15:28

If mine cleared off and left me with kids, bills and everything else.... he would have wished he'd stay'd dead

SantaKaloos · 07/12/2007 23:28

I think the sons were in on it too ... we'll just have to wait and see what unfolds

wheresthehamster · 08/12/2007 09:49

more news - he hid in the house for years!

LIZS · 08/12/2007 10:05

Can you really imagine encouraging your mum to sell up, move to Central America where she knows noone. I don't think most woudl unless they knew there was someone waiting over there and/or a reason to do so. He managed to evade his own kids and leave no trace for 4 years despite living in the fmaily home and atkign walsk along the beach . Sorry the sons must have known, she's trying ot protect them now and where has all that £££ gone ? Reports are 145k pay outs plus proceeds of house sale 295k , plus other properties , it goes on ...

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 08/12/2007 11:00

i am fascinated by this story how did they do this for so long, and why give it all up now? why did they do it, apart from debts, and did they really think they could get away with it for the rest of their lives?

LIZS · 08/12/2007 11:26

Apparently he had to come back as he had no visa to stay in Panama, presumably then had no where to go .

BettySpaghetti · 08/12/2007 11:29

I'm getting fascinated by this story now, too.

Theres an interview in The Mirror with her today.

I saw a bit on the news this morning about him hiding in the house so scoured the on-line papers for more info !

bossybritches · 08/12/2007 12:43

She's also got an "exclusive" in the Maiil so they're all running the story.

I think we're all fascinated by the story because we can't believe anyone could be so stupid, but at the same time the compulsion to just run away from it all is a temptation for many of us at times!!

WendyWeber · 08/12/2007 12:59

Great headline in the Sun today - The Liar, the Witch and the Wardrobe

WendyWeber · 08/12/2007 13:01

I heard on the news yesterday that she was being "escorted" by people from the Press Association, so presumably they have bought the story and are selling it to everybody, which is why it's in all the papers.

She can't be entitled to keep that money though, can she? It's profiting from illegal activities or something?

WendyWeber · 08/12/2007 13:03

There's a drawing here

BettyS, I read the online tabloids every day - there's always something fascinating in there that you just don't get with the broadsheets

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 08/12/2007 13:06

This is the funniest thing I've heard on the news for years - apart from their poor children who are going through a nightmare

bossybritches · 08/12/2007 13:07

WendyW I'm thinking of cancelling my daily paper & using the onlines during the week to get a bit of all the papers news which I like, then getting a half a rainforest weekend paper for all the extras that 'll last all week!

WendyWeber · 08/12/2007 13:24

That's what I do, bb - we used to get the Guardian every day and never read most of it, so now we just get the Saturday one - reading them all on the internet instead must cover the cost of our broadband connection pretty much!

DeePancrisPaneven · 08/12/2007 13:42

but it is very fashionable, though..

BettySpaghetti · 08/12/2007 15:09

LMAO at that link Pan

bossybritches · 08/12/2007 15:56
