Fran I'm so sorry you have had to resort to this action - but I do see you had no choice, thanks for updating us & keep in touch.

To all other posters FFS why does a discussion HAVE to descend to insults & name-calling when having a serious/heated discussion, you are worse than the bloody kids sometimes!
Particualary rude when the person we are discussing regularly posts & reads these comments, absolutely your right to post them but not to be offensive.

LittleBella · 25/11/2007 17:10

Hurray!

Good for her, I'm so relieved, she was being so reasonable about it and you cannot use reason with unreasonable people. I was beginning to fear that she was hanging around in England waiting for sanity to hit the legal and social work professions. But that ain't gonna happen until the secrecy of the family courts ends.

Good luck Fran, all the best for the future with Molly.

theUrbanDryad · 25/11/2007 21:19

Fran - I'm so glad you've left the country. as expat says, if it was me i'd've been gone a loooooong time ago! best of luck to you, and MN is a great place to some for PN support and bf-ing support.

morocco · 25/11/2007 21:43

good luck and all the best fran, fwiw i think it was the right decision
have you thought about setting up a fund btw?

sandybeach · 25/11/2007 22:18

Fran

Well done! You've made the right decision and I hope that you will be able to relax a little and find the support and help that you need to become a mummy rather than having to channel all your enery into fighting ss.

Thinking of you.xxx

Oh, and if you did start some kind of fund to support yourself and Molly and to fight ss I for one would be more than happy to donate

ruty · 25/11/2007 22:23

oh good luck Fran, I'm glad you're getting the right support. Do let us know how it goes.

sandybeach · 25/11/2007 22:24

On the whole 'we don't know the other side of the situation' debate, we do know that SS were planning to remove a newborn baby from its mother 10mins after the birth on the grounds that she might have a condition that might exist and she might harm the baby because years ago she had a traumatic time in her teens...

I find it hard to believe that the other side of the situation has any reasonable arguement to it.

ruty · 25/11/2007 22:27

and that all the psychiatric reports of professionals that actually knew Fran said she was not a risk to her child.

expatinscotland · 25/11/2007 22:29

and we do know a number of professionals with medical degrees have gone on record to say they do not agree she will harm her child.

they must all be making it up, huh, these doctors, never mind their reputations or careers .

the other side, SS, have been invited to present their side.

they haven't.

they haven't presented the reams of documentation Miss Lyons has from academics, pyschologist and doctors asserting her sound state of health.

no, they've hid in a corner.

so whom do you think most people will believe?

get a clue!

LittleBella · 25/11/2007 22:35

Yes and they've used that catch all bleat that they can't talk because it's all confidential.

Even though Fran gave them permission to.

And if they'd been so sure they were right, they would have taken her child and Molly would have been re-named and so there would have been no confidentiality issues anyway because no-one would have known she was Fran Lyons' child.

Fran, remember to change your posting name for when you post after Molly's birth!

sandybeach · 25/11/2007 22:37

It's madness isn't it? You just wonder what the hell is going on in Northumberland SS. Someone somewhere is dangerous...

Reallytired · 25/11/2007 22:59

I think that Fran Lyons position is similar to that of an asylum seeker. She is escaping extreme percution and brutal treatment.

Good luck to her and her child. I hope she manages to make a good life for her child and herself.

lemonaid · 25/11/2007 23:22

Good luck to Fran and Molly. I rather hoped Fran would go abroad, even though it seems drastic, as it was beginning to seem the only way out of the situation.

DrSpeckschwarteSurprise · 25/11/2007 23:33

Well done, Fran. It must have been a difficult decision to make, but it seemed to be the only option left.

Good luck.

doricgirl · 25/11/2007 23:51

Just wanted to say that I have updated the facebook group now that things are 'out in the open' - I'm sure you can understand why I didn't mention it before.

I know Fran has posted but just to say I have heard from her and it sounds like so far, so good - I just hope she can have some normality and enjoy the last few weeks of her pregnancy.

And just to reply to the comment that Fran's 'aiders and abetters must have their own axe to grind' - is it not a bit sad to assume that people are no longer willing to support their friends in a difficult situation without looking for something in it for them?

It would also be great to get the petition up to 1000 anyway - maybe it can be used in some way in the media to try and help others in this situation?

oldstraighttrack · 26/11/2007 00:20

Another take

Here for a different take

expatinscotland · 26/11/2007 00:27

a person who takes the Daily Mail seriously.

yeah, right.

VeryLittleCarrot · 26/11/2007 00:30

Another take? Well perhaps, but I fear it is a piece of appallingly written, illogically argued, vitriolic nonsense. Even if I knew nothing of this case I would find it almost impossible to credit the writer with any impartiality.

Who is the author? They appear to have a very poor grasp of the facts and some sort of axe to grind.

RosaLuxMundi · 26/11/2007 00:31

How utterly vile.

OverRated · 26/11/2007 00:37

This is very close to my heart. I wish I had the courage that Fran has. Wishing you & Molly all the best.

x

Elizabetth · 26/11/2007 00:58

The author of that piece Rita Pal is a big supporter of David Southall, one of MSBP's main exponents.

These people really don't do their case any favours by using slander.

MamaPyjama · 26/11/2007 00:59

I just had a look at the link, oldstraighttrack, and I feel so grubby after reading not just her vitriolic attack on Fran Lyon, but her ramblings on the McCanns, Sally Clark, the GMC, etc.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 26/11/2007 01:04

That so called "different take" is a disgrace! I notice there are no comment beneath it.. no doubt due to them needing to be approved by the blogger! I bet all he has received is criticism of his holey, deranged rant, and is therefore deleting them all!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 26/11/2007 01:05

Oh was it a she? Sorry. Yes, grubby.. that's the word!
