They are bonkers but I prefer them talking to a rose bush called Alfie than threatening to murder the staff at Alder Hey Sad

IronicWitttUsername · 03/05/2018 19:51

Sorry posted too soon earlier www.bmj.com/content/361/bmj.k1896 this article is v well written. But I bet whoever the author is they are in for a world of online hate as have everyone who have spoke up been.

SmashedMug · 03/05/2018 19:53

I didn't think of that fragrance! You're definitely right there!

Newname12 · 03/05/2018 20:49

Found it, thanks.

I find it very wierd how it’s gone from “i’m guna release baloons no one can stop me and i’ll buy twice as many of you say i can’t i wanna see the beatiful balloons fly to heaven” to a wierdly quiet immediate acquiescence with them all falling over each other to show obedience.

I find it very creepy. Like brainwashing almost. 100’s of thousands of people following and believing. Utmost faith.

Panda81 · 03/05/2018 23:01

I think a lot of negative comments have been deleted though as some people seem to be arguing with themselves in the comments.

I did see one earlier that has now gone, basically saying it was her money to do as she wished and she wasn't going to be told what to do 😳

A story was posted on Dignity4Life where a woman claims she was forced to abort a baby that showed signs of brain damage by an AH consultant but refused to sign the papers. It's a pretty serious accusation and I am not sure why is the page allowing such strong and biased language, as well as not checking the facts. Apparently the consultant was reported and disciplined, but those comments are now removed as a part of my comment which questioned her claims.
How far is what she's saying removed from accusations of AE being murdered? Not much, and is entering the dangerous territory of abortion being murder too.
And there's still censorship around the way talking about AE is allowed.

catinboots9 · 06/05/2018 13:54

The whole thing is a fucking circus now. That poor child, good god he's finally at peace. They asked for the army to 'fall silent' but have been posting pictures and videos of him in intensive care and the last stages of his life.

Disgraceful.

SilverySurfer · 06/05/2018 14:33

IMO it's a tad unrealistic to think members of the Alfies Army mob will go quietly back into their boxes after having been whipped up into such a frenzy by family members for so long. You reap what you sow.

reallyanotherone · 06/05/2018 16:11

Oh lord that story about the mother who flew her terminally ill 2 week old on a 22 hour flight for surgery in a different country. With no medical support.

Child died as expected shortly after. A day flying, surgery, hospitals in the last days.

Is it me or does she not say which countries were involved?

She also says she went to medical school but couldn’t place a cannula?

mydogisthebest · 06/05/2018 18:04

Not sure why my post was deleted. It was criticising Alfie's Army not his family. Are we not allowed to do that now?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 07/05/2018 08:44

No ! MN are treading very carefully
Probably for legal reasons

I had a fairly mild comment deleted and decided to stir the pot

Awful all around

GnotherGnu · 07/05/2018 08:52

On the facts as reported by broccolina, the termination story has to be made up. If the woman refused to sign the papers - presumably consent to termination - the termination wouldn't have happened.

broccolina · 07/05/2018 15:25

Sorry, I haven't been clear... story was one of their Angels & Miracles parent's accounts as a show of support for excellent care at Alder Hey, but in the intro this bit about a consultant forcing her to abort was slipped in. From what I gather, at 5 months there was a serious danger of baby dying in the womb, however, she decided to carry on and was induced prematurely eventually. The boy survived thanks to AH.
Of course she wouldn't be able to carry on with the pregnancy if she was forced to abort. Why this need to make everything into some conspiracy government/doctors vs. honest people plot?

BangingOn · 07/05/2018 16:31

So many of the Army have jumped to support the little girl Kyrah. The page her mother has set up doesn’t include much detail of what they are actually fighting and interestingly every time someone asks that question they are ignored. It doesn’t stop people supporting them though, as clearly having a cause that they don’t understand is better than no cause at all.

MyOtherProfile · 08/05/2018 05:58

Who is Kyrah?

BangingOn · 08/05/2018 07:04

There is a Facebook group called Keep Fighting Baby Kyrah about a little girl who is being treated at AH.

MyOtherProfile · 08/05/2018 07:33

Is her case similar?

BangingOn · 08/05/2018 08:13

As I said, the details really aren’t clear, but from what I can see the hospital gave her a poor prognosis as a baby, she is on kidney dialysis and her parents want her to have a transplant but AH don’t think it’s a suitable procedure. But I might be wrong!

reallyanotherone · 08/05/2018 08:40

Again though without being medically qualified with access to the childs medical records it is impossible to judge.

She may not be suitable for transplant for many reasons. Anaesthesia, intubation, rejection, then there’s the permanent immunosuppression after. A transplant may have a serious risk of killing her sooner than her disease.

DeadButDelicious · 08/05/2018 10:33

My mum had a transplant, obviously there is a criteria to be met. It's a huge thing to go through. They have to be sure that you are a good candidate.

I feel for the girl and her family but if they aren't giving her one then there must be a good reason.

BangingOn · 08/05/2018 11:48

Exactly. Every time someone asks in the comments for the details of the situation they are completely ignored. The emphasis is on ‘fighting’ but it’s not clear against what.

user1471447863 · 08/05/2018 13:30

Yes that page seems to very quiet on the reasons why she is being refused.
It may very well be that a transplant is not the magic cure for her (at this time) but the mother seems fixated on it.

Soubriquet · 08/05/2018 13:44

this just came up on my fb

I know it's probably old news now but still
