I'm glad to see this update. Now Mum and dad can concentrate on spending whatever time they have left with Alfie. They've been through absolute hell and it's not about to get easier. And that poor little boy having his future snatched away by that terrible disease. If there is a God, I hope he is kinder to that family than he has been up until now.

NerrSnerr · 26/04/2018 20:50

I hope that the next thing we hear in the coming days is that Alfie has passed away peacefully with his parents. I also hope that the idiots in the army don’t blame his parents for ‘giving up’. I know it’s not everyone in the group but some really don’t have any insight into the reality.

I hope the very religious side to this now retreat quickly, unfortunately I think they’ll find their next cause to latch on to.

I hope so Nerr

Hopefully this means that the “army” will go home and find another cause to froth about.

I wonder whether this has something to do with the fact that he and Kate no longer appeared to be on the same page hence why different legal teams etc. Kate has for the most part been quiet and not had much to say. IF she were prepared to work with the hospital there’s a chance that he might have been taken out of the equation if he was still being so aggressive.

It matters not really in any event and hopefully they will reach a resolution which will enable them to spend time with their baby.

But, as much as I dislike the actions etc of the army and think that they should have been disbanded ages ago and driven away from the hospital, the fact here remains that these are people who have showed up at the hospital day after day, night after night, and while I absolutely do not agree with their actions, I do think that there is a risk here that the publicity TE has given the world at large may well turn against him when those who feel they’ve supported him are simply told to go home.

I don’t agree with it, I don’t think it should ever have happened, but I do think that once this is all over there is wider discussion to be had around the benefits and the pitfalls of using internet support for a cause and what happens when that support runs out of control or you want to step back.

It’s a dangerous step to take to open up your life like this because once you do it you have no way of stopping what happens next.

RavishMinoux · 26/04/2018 20:54

@Sozzler

"Ravish, nothing justifies some of the things I have seen posted on these threads towards this family. I won't go into detail because it defeats the object of them being deleted but there were a great deal of personal and very hurtful attacks, especially in the earlier threads."

I'd be interested to see where I justified anyone's behaviour. I simply gave an explanation as to what might have caused some it. As I made quite clear in my post, I don't have a view on it either way, or if I do, I'm not going to express here.

Thanks.

Oh. Dear.

dontbesillyhenry · 26/04/2018 20:59

Paying

Americantan · 26/04/2018 20:59

user145 on the basis those papers were drafted by a law student and without any cause of action in the first place, I suspect they’ve already been shredded

BinkyBonkk · 26/04/2018 20:59

@dontbesillyhenry i agree

MorningCuppa · 26/04/2018 21:00

He has said along he does what he does for Alfie, he wants to take Alfie home, he knows the only way he can is to make amends and stop the crazy circus.
So he's doing what he needs to do for Alfie.

Time is precious, he must realise this now, to spend what time they have left, at home with Alfie, would I expect be so much better then spending it in a hospital cubicle, time to make some special memories and step away from the media/army/courts.

Dtie3007 · 26/04/2018 21:01

Came off Facebook because of all the hate going on towards the hospital and the staff. This site is much more gentle and caring, people seem to understand there is no right or wrong in this sad case. I hope Alfie and his family have quality time together before he passes away.

Please respect this poor man. He's not perfect but he loves his child.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 26/04/2018 21:03

People on the group asking for updates in a few years time and to post photos etc.. Not sure they quite understand its not going to be like that.

Hopefully this is it for real. Not a case of peace until he does pass and then launch back into attacks onto hopsital. Need to surround themselves with the right people. Get the right support

goodbyestranger · 26/04/2018 21:03

Surely youth has to be an excuse to some extent? All credit to those who can genuinely claim they've done everything the way they would still do it given more age and experience. I certainly couldn't claim that. I think the poor father looks utterly done in and I genuinely hope he feels some release from the appalling stress he's been under. I reckon the doctors have his back, even now, to a far greater degree than this grisly 'army'. He's far better off working with them than with his so-called other supporters.

RavishMinoux · 26/04/2018 21:03

"IF THIS IS HOW WE GET OUR SON HOME THEN PLEASE RESPECT US"

I'm wondering whether some in AA will see the above but dismiss the below:

"IF THIS IS HOW WE GET OUR SON HOME THEN PLEASE RESPECT US WE ASK YOU TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT..."

Talking only with regard to AA, there's been a distinct absence of critical thinking within their ranks, imho. It's a possibility that some in AA will feel as though their purpose in all of this has been ended without their consent.

Doyoumind · 26/04/2018 21:04

ITV is showing a documentary called Harold Shipman Doctor Death. AIBU to think they could have changed the schedule and postponed this a week given the current mood on social media?

whilstlersmother · 26/04/2018 21:06

The Guardian opinion.
Alfie Evans’ parents needed help. The vultures came instead

YellowPinkie · 26/04/2018 21:06

I don't see what it matters that people gave them money. That doesn't give anyone a right to anything. It's not pay to view 🙄

dontbesillyhenry · 26/04/2018 21:06

Doyoumind but it will give AA further evidence they were right all along as one doctor was corrupt!

user1471450935 · 26/04/2018 21:09

Sorry to labour the point, It's not his age it's grief
I will repeat that over and over again.
When Phil died I was 21, my Mum was 52 and my Dad 48.
My dad committed suicide aged 49, my mum never forgive me, said before, her favourite puts down where
The wrong son lived or
You couldn't wait to kill your brother, that killed your Dad, are you happy now?
I now know and have accepted grief killed my Dad and drove my mum to cut off her only next of kin left.
I have accepted it, just about forgiven my Dad, never will forgive my Mum.
So it's grief not age or surely my mum and dad would have coped and I would be either dead or doing a TE. I did neither, I acted like the Adult, as someone had too. I sorted my dad's death certificate and funeral etc. because my mum broke down, I was 23.
GRIEF NOT AGE.

There’s an awful lot of thinly disguised snobbery on this thread IMO....
