Following on from the last thread. If there's one already please do delete this one.

Remember not to speculate or make negative comments about the family or discussions will be stopped.

Thoughts are with Alfie tonight Star

Such an important and sensitive topic.

Hi all,
Again, as you can see, there have been several deletions on this thread (albeit some for repeating posts rather than breaking guidelines themselves).

We spoke yesterday about the discomfort many MNers feel at being part of the "circus" that surrounds this case, so can we please just re-iterate that we are asking you not to post any speculation (for example re medical treatment, the motivations of medical staff, the motivations of the parents of this child etc) and please do not post any personal comments about the family of this child.

We know that feelings are running high, of course they are, not least with the media coverage taking place at fever pitch, but we are a parenting site, one that supports other parents quite beautifully at their darkest times, and we feel that is where our strengths lie. It would be fantastic if we could play to those strengths as this tragic case unfolds.

Freshtart, endofthelinefinally, Cocoagin, jaseyraex, MadameGrizzly, Flowers to you all, for your losses and for your continuing bravery.

@Zoraflorabore, yes, that's right, unfortunately your otherwise extremely personal and moving post went because of the comment you made about TE. It was a great shame that your post went, it was lovely. Please don't keep making the same comment, though, as we will have to keep deleting it and we have already lost a number of these threads. Thanks.

@GorgeousJaws

Apparently,

"Xenophobic? I've heard it all now"

...Is delete worthy with a helpful link to talk guidelines thrown in.

??? Oops, I did it again.

Hi Gnother,
We did say on our post that some deletions had been made because they repeated deleted posts. "As you can see, there have been several deletions on this thread (albeit some for repeating posts rather than breaking guidelines themselves)."

We frequently delete posts that repeat previous deleted posts, in a bid to head off a derailment as much as anything else, as discussions about moderation are wont to do. All we're asking is that posters on these threads refrain from making personal comments and attacks about the family, and don't speculate as to treatment, motivation etc. We don't believe that is unreasonable and we do believe it is in the spirit of the site to uphold those guidelines.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 26/04/2018 11:13

Apologies, Gnother, it was indeed GorgeousJaws that we intended to address, thank you for pointing that out.

This thread does seem to be derailing somewhat from the subject matter, could we ask that if anyone has any further moderating questions they report them, so that the thread can get back on track?

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 26/04/2018 15:41

@MissEliza

Omg I can't believe my comment about the Evans family got deleted! So apparently we aren't allowed to point out that the family are saying things that are plainly untrue. Why should they get protection that others haven't?! Absolutely ridiculous.

Hi MissEliza,
We have checked, and there can be no doubt that what you posted was an attack. Hopefully there won't be any further deletions, however in the event that you have any further queries could you please report them rather than derail the thread? It seems just to have got on track, and it would be good to keep it that way.
