What a pair. Her endorsement speech yesterday was just bonkers - words just fail me when it comes to Donald Trump.

Is this the best America has to offer?

Grin loving this thread.

'But Elton John is a pianist'

Obviously Elton didn't want to compare Trump's crowds to his own crowds, only to the far lower number attained by guys with guitars. Elton is in a different league.

Sarah Palin was the last straw for me. It's like some bad spoof movie.

Tina Fey would not even need to write any new material - repeating Sarah's current lines with a cocked eyebrow should do it. Worrying.

Whenever I think about Donald Trump I think of that documentary about how he treated the local residents who he wanted to move out out because he thought they were in the way of his Scottish golf course. Built a huge artificial earth bank to block one householder's view of the coast. One of those guys stayed put and last I heard (recent interview of docu maker on R4) was still without electricity and running water 5+ years later.

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 21/01/2016 23:40

Yay Claig joined the party Grin

VertigoNun · 21/01/2016 23:41

I did rub my hands together when I saw Trump fan girl Claig. Grin I have a soft spot for Claig.

claig · 21/01/2016 23:41

Just wanted to point the facts out Grin

VertigoNun · 21/01/2016 23:42

Keep going.

I heard similar, but not as bad, about his luxury resort on the coast of Co Clare. dunno how true the stories are. Who cares, it was 2004, builders and builders' providers earned money. But I benefited too, as a waitress in a cafe frequented by builders and lorry drivers. it's wrong, but it puts food on tables for lots of people. And that's why these people get all the support.

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 21/01/2016 23:44

The sight of Trump and Palin sharing the same platform for one night is too much of a gift for the world already. Any more than that would be overly generous

Great to see the audience in QT tonight voicing their - ahem - "support" Wink

Agree Rom that some residents near his golf course were and are treated abominably.

claig · 21/01/2016 23:47

'Great to see the audience in QT tonight voicing their - ahem - "support"'

I missed that. Will have to watch it on iplayer. Sounds like another BBC packed audience made up of the political class. Usual game.

VertigoNun · 21/01/2016 23:50

Claig, can I pick your brain on a few things?

  1. New planet. There was talk years ago of a planet X and people were laughed as conspiracy theorie fools. Is this the same planet?

  2. Europe and markets. What are your thoughts?

Thanks.Smile

MuttonCadet · 21/01/2016 23:57

"Trump isn't known for exaggerations or untruths?" Hmm

Oh you are a card Claig Wink

GiddyOnZackHunt · 21/01/2016 23:58

I imagine Tina Fey is trying to work out how to parody something that's already a parody.
Sarah Palin is utterly ridiculous and scary.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 22/01/2016 00:00

We've had a very jolly Trump thread on politics the last few evenings. Currently we're planning to lobby to get claig to do a round table MN Chat with Trump, Nige and Jez.

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 22/01/2016 00:04

QT was in Belfast, Claig, so I'm afraid your conspiracy theory won't wash - the audience wasn't full of leftie metropolitan elitists

claig · 22/01/2016 00:04

I don't think so. I never followed the Planet X stuff, Nibiru, or whatever it was because I thought that was a con. You will often find members of the political class issuing dire warnings of the dangers of an Asteroid called Fred which is about to hit us and how we urgently need to hand over our tax money, after we have paid the sugar tax, in order for the political class to "save the planet". All of these type of scares are usually not real.

The markets are in a bad way. Very dangerous because it may end up in wars as the big fish who own the political class start losing real money and want to grab other people's money. Europe and the EU are over in my opinion, it is just a matter of time. I think the big fish have taken a decision to destabilise Europe and end the EU.

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 22/01/2016 00:05

last three words should have been in quotation marks....

claig · 22/01/2016 00:06

'the audience wasn't full of leftie metropolitan elitists'

Blimey, that makes a change. The BBC bouncers working the doors must have slipped up this time.

VertigoNun · 22/01/2016 00:09

I thought the plan was three superstates, so have the elites changed their mind?

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 22/01/2016 00:09

Sugar tax is a good idea actually, Claig. Unlike a Trump presidency and Palin as Veep Grin

US voters know that if the President is killed the Veep automatically gets the top job, so a Veep they couldn't countenance as President can be enough to kill off support for the whole ticket. It's happened before.

claig · 22/01/2016 00:16

'I thought the plan was three superstates, so have the elites changed their mind?'

Good point. The plan was the George Orwell 1984 Eurasia, Eastasia, Oceania type three bloc plan, but the political class hasn't been able to deliver it and the timescales are slipping. Another complication was that some of the political class in the EU started getting too big for their boots and weren't obeying orders so they are now being destabilised to teach them a lesson.

But the real gamechanger is the subject of this thread - Trump and now Palin. That has ended the entire plan, it is now over. All of the billionaires and moguls are no gathered in Davo in sub-zero temperatures. They were already shivering in the cold, but when they heard the news that Palin has endorsed Trump they started trembling and breaking out in a cold sweat. They know it's now over. Their game is up.

claig · 22/01/2016 00:25

"Davos elite alarmed at prospect of nominee Trump"

www.reuters.com/article/us-davos-meeting-trump-elite-idUSKCN0UZ2MD

The prospect of a Trump presidency sent a cold shiver down the Davos elite's spine, but the news that Palin had joined in, tipped some of them over the edge. There were rumours of elites throwing mobile phones around the room, frothing at the mouth, some of them fainted and had to resuscitated. It wasn't pretty and when they saw the huge crowds cheering Trump on at his rallies "bigger than anything for a guy without a guitar", it drove some of them mad with fury and they began swearing at the people.
