She's been interviewed by the Sunday Times.

Wearing short skirt, high heels, drunk - implies your fault if raped. Dressed like that you need to be able to run. She says.

She was assaulted at age 21. Says her fault she went with the men.

I hate her for making me think for a split second it was my fault I was abused as a child for running to the loo in just a top which did cover my bottom, I had no pants on. In front of the abuser.

I suspect she has a record to promote.

I was thinking the same. Isn't she a patron for the nspcc??? (I might be imagining that) utterly utterly abhorent and ignorant views! No one "deserves" to be raped - ever. Full stop. If rapists only raped people in provocative clothing then why do old ladies (and men) get raped? gymbunny I'm sorry for what you've been through - you didn't deserve what happened to you. I think "celebrities" especially those who are clearly desperate for attention because they haven't had a hit song in a donkeys age trying to sell something, should keep their mouths shut. Xxx

I wonder if she was in some way misquoted. I can understand that she felt as if she were to blame, victims of violence often do. But she says if she's attacked whilst walking around in her underwear and drunk "who else's fault can it be?" er.. well unless you attacked yourself I would suggest .. the attacker??

Chrissie it is not Christie. Just writing as I wasn't sure if it was who I thought it was or someone else (not v good with slabs!).

I found a linkhere guardian and lots more on google I'm utterly appalled by what she says.

Maybe, maybe she has decided that what happened when she was 21 was her fault as that means that she can sort of take some control back, and it feels safer to say "well it happened because xyz and so if I do abc it won't happen again" than to say "it was just bad luck it could happen to anyone it could happen to me again and there's not much I can do about it".

But BUT even if that is why she feels how sahe does - and I'm being generous there maybe she is just a nasty fucking victim blaming piece of shit - comments like this from someone so famous and I hate to say it but especially a woman - set the efforts for victims both in society at large and for some people in their own processing of their own experiences - back just years.

She needs to read that blog with all the women saying what they were wearing when they were raped FFS.

I looked at her twitter to see what people were saying (it came up on google I don't really know how to do twitter).

More recent comments saying she's a bastard.

Older comments inc K hopkins & some men and some women too saying yes well it's an important point she makes about personal responsibility.

If she thinks that people who are victims of sexual violence should take full responsibility for it, then what she is saying is she wants it to be legal in (all? any?) circumstances. That is what it means, if you say the only person responsible is the victim.

What a stupid imbecilic dangerous set of remarks and all the rape apologists are now gleefully exploding all over the place saying "see! I was right! women ask for it and they get it and it's literally no-ones fault but their own".

At least most rape apologists have the nouse to put "yes of course rape is wrong and men shouldn't do it" in there somewhere - not so in this case. The sole responsibility for sexual assault lies with the victims.

It's mind boggling isn't it? And lots of people agree.

I don't like her views but I think it is important to remember she was a victim of rape. It is also quite obvious she hasn't had counselling.

It is sad more than anything.

It is sad until her views are promulgated all over the internet giving all the people who think like this support. And from someone who is a. famous b. female c. a victim of assault herself and so her views seem like they should be credible IYSWIM.

It's sad until she speaks out like this and makes people like the OP feel things that they shouldn't be made to feel.

I can understand how she has guilt associated with her attack (not because she should but because lots of victims do) but it's a massive, horrible, leap to extrapolate from that to victims are responsible.

It's so entirely out-of-sorts with who I thought she was.

It was me that said I didn't know who she was gymbunny and it wasn't a dig, it was preceding a comment about how she might dress and as I don't know who she is it follows that I also don't know how she dresses.

No it wasn't a dig. I'm not very up on slebs and in my 40s, so while I thought "it's probably chrissie hydne" I thought it might well be someone else who I hadn't heard of as let's face it she's not exactly currently in the news much, and there wasn't a link. So I posted a link and said it was chrissie for the benefit of anyone else like me clicking so they didn't have to google as well.

I did try to word it to explain that I was doing it so that people like me who clicked would know for sure who was being discussed, rather than to be pedantic but it obviously didn't manage to come across like that.

I am sorry it genuinely wasn't meant that way.
