"Natasha Bolter: Oxford University deny sex scandal Ukip candidate ever attended"

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/ukip/11285916/Natasha-Bolter-Oxford-University-deny-sex-scandal-Ukip-candidate-ever-attended.html

Roger Bird, who is a PPE, introduced Natasha Bolter as having defected from Labour and being a PPE too.

I saw her interviewed on BBC Newsnight last night, and I did begin to wonder about Oxford and PPEs. I'm not a big fan of PPEs at the best of times, but Gordon Bennett, I thought to myself.

What's going on?

All Oxford PPE graduates will be articulate and intelligent.

Now whatday, don't be naughty and make me laugh so much. My pelvic floor isn't what it used to be...

(I'm a PPEist btw)

claig · 10/12/2014 20:36

Someone on Guido Fawkes's site makes the point that struck me when Evan Davis introduced the BBC Newsnight of Natasha with Tom Mangold, a senior figure in the media, and said something like Tom Mangold was a friend.

"The BBC are giving her plenty of airtime- I’m sure they’ll ask her to
prove her CV’s not fake.
Also Mangold was billed on Newsnight as being ” a friend”.Surely
he can vouch for her background?"

"UKIP's Neil Hamilton withdraws from Basildon selection process"

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-30419577

Don't write UKIP off yet. There is still hope. The Establishment laugh at us , the people, but we may still win

"This is perhaps Nigel Farage’s most potent line of attack: that the liberal, metropolitan elites who hate ordinary Brits and employ foreign nannies have stitched up the political system, rigged the economy in their favour, ripped off their parliamentary expenses and are laughing at us all behind our backs."

The torch of freedom still shines bright in Basildon, Essex.
Good luck to Basildon and the UKIP team down there, show the Establishment how it is done, we're tearing up their lawns, we've still got them on the run.

Only 5 months to go before the election.

Well, I sincerely hope Winston is not hoping to garner black votes, because if the reaction to him in my barbers is representative, he hasn't got a cat in hell's chance.

Hakluyt · 10/12/2014 20:55

Oh,Claig, you do make me laugh! Such a fantastic satirical persona you've created. I wish I knew who you really are- Alexi Sayle, possibly?

MonstrousRatbag · 10/12/2014 20:56

Or Jo Brand?

claig · 10/12/2014 20:58

MonstrousRatBag, why? Did you listen to his speech to the Croydon Advertiser? Have you ever heard a London Labour MP, the Oxbridge ones, the ones the Establishment always sticks on our TVs, talk like that with such honesty and passion?

OP posts:
claig · 10/12/2014 20:59

'I wish I knew who you really are- Alexi Sayle, possibly?'

Alas not. Alexei is a legend. Smile

OP posts:
claig · 10/12/2014 21:04

'Or Jo Brand?'

Jo is a legend too, and her favourite book is George Orwell's 1984. It is all in there - New Labour, political correctness, the lot.

And Winston in 1984 (who was modelled on UKIP candidate Winston McKenzie, a fighter for the people and the truth) said that "hope lies with the proles" and by proles, I think he must have meant UKIP, the People's Army.

OP posts:
claig · 10/12/2014 21:07

Politically correct New Labour, who took us to a war on a lie, even tried to give us Orwellian DNA databases and biometric ID cards and we voted the Tories in to stop them and to kick them out. But now the Tories have let us down too, so we've all gorn UKIP through and through.

Oxford Shock - the woman used the word 'politiciany' in that interview - standards must be slipping Grin

december12 · 10/12/2014 21:28

Hamilton has withdrawn and is supporting Kerry Smith

december12 · 10/12/2014 21:29

Ok, you'd already seen that!

WhaddayWant · 10/12/2014 21:31

All Oxford PPE graduates will be articulate and intelligent.

Lol, Grin I didn't say they couldn't be 'ignorant' or generally pillocky people in addition to being articulate and intelligent ....iyswim

claig · 10/12/2014 21:33

She also said "he shouldn't have favouritised me as a PPC". I've never heard of "favouritised", I thought it must be some sort of Establishment Speak that only PPEs do, like a funny handshake type of thing.

But the line that set my antennae buzzing and made me for a second think that the BBC might be having a laugh, which of course I know they would never do as they are Establishment through and through, was when she said

"I do not want to sleep with somebody to benefit my career because I am catholic"

OP posts:
claig · 10/12/2014 21:38

december12, let us know who wins in Basildon. I like the sound of Ian Luder. He sounds serious. The Tories don't stand a chance in Essex and nor do Labour, so any half-decent UKIP candidate should trounce the Establishment candidates.

OP posts:
Icimoi · 10/12/2014 21:49

What a wonderfully easy way to deal with the inconvenient fact that UKIP candidates have an unhealthily large proportion of iffy characters - assume they are planted by other parties and that those supposed to vet them are also planted. So who vets the vetters? Should we assume that they were planted also? At what point does someone in the party actually have some degree of control?

claig · 10/12/2014 21:56

'So who vets the vetters? '

The Establishment of course.

"At what point does someone in the party actually have some degree of control?"

There will be stooges and often the crazy statements will be made by stooges, so the more stooges that are removed, the more control the genuine People's Army will have.

The People's Army are up against the Establishment and the Esatblishment is currently reeling as the People's Army have been tearing up their lawns all over Essex and Kent. So the People's Army will now be subject to every trick in the Establishment's book.

The People's Army are good, honest people so they will never have imagined such underhand tactics were even possible. But they are quick learners, they won't be stopped from tearing up their lawns.

OP posts:
claig · 10/12/2014 21:58

''So who vets the vetters? '

If I were to put money on it, I'd bet my house it was a PPE.

OP posts:
claig · 10/12/2014 22:02

'“If you vote UKIP, the value of your house will go down.”

www.conservativehome.com/thetorydiary/2014/11/if-you-vote-ukip-the-value-of-your-house-will-go-down-seriously.html

The Tories already tried that in Clacton and then again in Rochester and it failed both times. They really don't care if some poor old pensioner might actually fear that is true and have sleepless nights about it. That is the kind of people they are, the polar opposite of the People's Army.

Kerry Smith has been chosen as the UKIP candidate for South Basildon.

Good choice which lots of the local Basildon UKIP wanted.

Good result tonight with Hamilton skulking off with tail between legs. But it should never have got that far.

Unfortunately UKIP will attract a lot of the flotsam that the established parties have refused to take on board. To compound the problem UKIP does not have the sophisticated party machinery that permits is to fully scrutinise its potential candidates.

Hence the Fembot.

But there are supposed to be 4 stages of assessment, including interview and test on the party's policies. How she passed those we can only guess.

This ditching do long-standing UKIP PPCs in favour of newcomers, the recently enlightened, big names and donors is something that bothers me. I thought we were above that. Obviously not

Claig Very good piece in ConHome about the Five Tribes of UKIP. I am BLUE.

Permanentlyexhausted · 10/12/2014 23:54

She'd hardly be the first politician to embellish their background with a dodgy claim to have studied at Oxford.

The one I'm thinking of was a VERY senior Tory politician! It didn't seem to worry the Tories much so I'm not sure why people would expect UKIP to be better!

ravenAK · 10/12/2014 23:56

I'm quite liking the conceit that the reason most of the UKIP faces that bob up in the shooting gallery are a bit rubbish, is because other, more credible parties keep planting them there.

It's a bit like running a B&B & accusing the neighbours of infesting you with bedbugs, whilst putting up pictures of the cockroaches on Trip Advisor to demonstrate that you do actually have a better class of beetle.
