Just think, we'd be calling these fellas Heroes had they not been caught.

Makes my blood run cold.

So disappointed in our armed forces. Once again.

We do treat injured afghans, both in the field and at the hospital at Camp Bastion. In fact we treat injured Taliban and insurgents too!

Also - "under our rule" - err.... Once again you need to read up on what you're commenting on. We are not ruling in Afghanistan, there is an Afghan government headed up by Hamid Karzai. Do you think we've colonised Afghanistan? Why let some pesky facts get in the way of a controversial opinion!

Geckos48 · 09/11/2013 21:34

a government we put there, a police force we are training!

But don't let the truth get in the way of a pithy quip.

So if you think the military is so bad (and I'm not agreeing it is btw), then what do you propose? Without any military involvement at all....what do you think should happen? What would you have this country do? Just curious......

You are all engaging with a person who uses the word obsession w/ reference to the upbringing of her children. Although i suspect that anybody sitting at the laptop for the length of time that this thread indicates is probably relying on wolves to raise their children.

And my point again?

If you are against abortion does that mean you cannot respect the whole of the NHS?

You are saying that people who represent your country and kill are never worthy of respect and that you cannot be anti war/pro peace and respect soldiers at the same time. My question above is an extension of your fallacious POV.

Do you not respect Doctors because of Shipman and the doctor who massacred his entire family to get revenge on his wife a few years ago?
Do you not respect nurses because of Allitt?
Do you not respect the police?
What about former abbatoir workers? One of them killed a woman he was obsessed in the street?

What about this here?

According to your fallacious argument, you and your profession (or possible future profession) are not worthy of respect because this social worker was convicted of conspiracy to murder her husband. Not only that, the idiot LA employed her.

Karzai was democratically elected in two general elections. The government was also elected in two general elections.

I propose we regulate the arms trade, stop selling weapons to cunts, offer actual support where and when we can in form of proper aid like irrigation, schools and hospitals. I suggest we give those in the undeveloped world an opportunity to farm the produce they are able to do so and use it to our advantage as well as theirs. This means opium and cannabis.

I propose we give people a fair price for oil which we could do by not building the bombs we need to use to keep people economically weak so we get a low price for it.

I propose we work to build the economic strengths of countries in order to support them to a better future.

I propose we stop treating others like evil megalomaniacs for behaving in the exact same way that past rulers of our country have done.

Or...

I suggest we leave them alone to get on with it, stop this awful arms dealing that goes on and step back with our weapons and bombs.

It was British supplies that gave Assad the makings of his chemical weapons.

We need to just stop arming the world so that we can fight them and act like heroes, we don't look like heroes, we look like giant, armed arseholes.

Geckos, I think those recreational drugs you've taken in the past have affected your train of thought.

You have more to deal with in your own life and what's on your doorstep rather than fearing a bomb planted by a terrorist groomed by the actions of our soldiers.

Hth.

If you train to become a doctor in the nhs, you train to heal people and be part of an organisation that heals people.

If you train to be a doctor in the army you are training to heal people and be part of an organisation that terrorises and destroys large portions of the world. The two are not comparable.

Under the Taliban people knew what was right and wrong, it was an oppressive nasty right and wrong but they knew what it wasShock Hmm

I just don't have the words to respond to that!

Geckos48 · 09/11/2013 21:46

The only thing on my doorstep is milk bottles.

I am not delving into my personal life because it
Is irrelevant to this thread. If you are so unable to come up with relevant arguments that you have to resort to such behaviour then you really don't have much to say, either of you.

If you train to be a doctor/nurse in the Army/RAF/Navy - you train in the NHS!!!!

TeacakeEater · 09/11/2013 21:47

SanDiego! My thoughts exactly on the drugs!

YouStayClassySanDiego · 09/11/2013 21:48

Arms dealing
Arms dealing
Arms dealing.

Same old thing every thread.

Are you actually, physically doing anything about it, you know protesting or such like?

You do know that some of the doctors working within the NHS are military doctors don't you?

One of our local hospitals has a very high number of nurses and doctors who are serving member of the Armed Forces. One of them was in A&E the night DS2 had an accident at school.

I have friends who have been to Afghanistan and not as soldiers. I have met afghan people travelling

I have watched countless interviews and reports on the degraded standard of living in that country.

I'm sorry, I think you missed the part where I said "reasonable." Hmm Never going to happen, this.

I suggest we leave them alone to get on with it

How humanitarian. Just sit back and watch. Hmm
