PositiveAttitude · 24/01/2010 09:24

Marking my spot.

Just going back to bed to find out whether I feel ill because I am tired or I am tired because I am ill!!! Need to be well for work tomorrow, as manic week ahead. Haven't got time to be under the weather.

Have a good day everyone.

MissB - Just quickly scrolled the last thread and there seemed a lot of faces in your post. Hope today is an improvement.

Mega post by you again SC .

missbennett · 24/01/2010 09:46

Thank you positiveattitude - looking good so far!!!
Hope you feel better too and a rest does the trick.

Have half home blessed - i.e. put hoover round (which is not very good - think there is a design fault in the way it backs up with dirt!)

Done very thorough swish and swipe involving going under the rim with brillo pad - is squeaky clean now

Off to church in a few minutes so we will all be blessed anyway!

Then going out to lunch with friend

Hope everybody has a lovely Sunday. Lovely new thread to start with - thank you droitwichmummy

Must go and get dressed - sitting in a towel and although our vicar is a veryu relaxed sort of chap, I think the sight of me in a towel might be just too much!!

MrsDinky · 24/01/2010 10:14

Ooh, goody, my PC was starteing to struggle with loading the other thread! Thanks DWM

Back later. Have done nothing constructive yet today!

MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 24/01/2010 11:29

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well and getting over bumps and colds etc.

Relaxed day today, just maintenance to keep things ticking along.

Will add swish and swipe to my routine, though it will probaly be part of the evening routine. Will probably get DH to do downstairs loo and I will do en-suite.

havingagiraffe · 24/01/2010 13:22

Lovely a new thread, maybe I can keep up with this one.
DWM That sounds like a lovely sat night/sun morn. I slept in attic last night so had a break from my frequent waking child. Feel soo much better, although now like junkie who has had a fix, I want more, more, more!

MissB hope you didn't give the vicar a shock.

pa Hope you are not too poorly. Roll on spring when all these sniffles and coughs are on the way out.

I haven't had time tp post but have been getting better with the old flying and ready to start checking DWM's lovely links again so hope to be able to check on with you all a bit more.

Must dash now as just got time to get washing out before finishing roast pork.

Mmmango · 24/01/2010 14:45

Thanks for new thread, dwm. Just placemarking for tomorrow, really - hope everyone is having a good Sunday!

So SnS is finally here, I'll try adding it to mornings.

Am also going to start doing the weekly home bl*ing hour from tomorrow. (I have no problems with blessings in a religious context, but this is waaay too cheesy for me )

Still counting, thanks so much for links and info on last thread

Pluto · 24/01/2010 16:06

DH has taken the boys into town so I can get on with some stuff. I should be doing school work, putting tea on and generally whizzing about about I haven't had 5 minutes to myself this week so I'm taking it now.

My dishwasher isn't working. It was full of water when it had finished the wash yesterday. DH tried unblocking it but doesn't really know what he's doing and there is no obvious way to get to the pipes. Does anyone have any ideas?

to do
tidy up for the cleaner
lesson prep
15 minute rescue of understairs cupboard

done
a lot of washing up!
big bag of stuff for charity collection
avoidance tactics from school work - I am worse at doing my homework than the kids I teach.

given up
trying to get round to mopping the hall floor

Hope you are all having lovely Sundays and thanks to DWM for keeping us going

PositiveAttitude · 24/01/2010 16:51

Pluto - When mine did this a couple of weeks ago it was due to a frozen pipe, so I just scooped out all the old gunky, gloopy water and tipped boiled water down it. It worked, but if yours is not due to frozen pipes I presume it would not work for you.

really not feeling good here. We are all (5 of us, DH is fine) mopping around and feeling like death, not really very warmed up even! I have to be well for tomorrow, so might see if some fresh air might help in a while, then back to curl up and die relax!

The film - "Return of the Chinese Laundry" is featuring in my back lounge! Oh dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear! It will just have to wait until after work tomorrow. General condition of the house is not too bad though.

Enough thinking for now.

Waves to everyone.

StillCounting · 24/01/2010 17:57

Hi everyone,

Thank you for spanking new thread Mummy and glad you had a well-deserved lie-in.

Sorry you are all suffering PA - hope you feel better in time for tomorrow - take it steady

I'm sure it would do the vicar good MissBennett!! (Sure it wd have livened up the sermon no end!!!)

Hi HavingaG great to see you ...hope you get another good night's sleep tonight

No prob. Mmango - the phrase 'home blessing' sticks in my throat too ... I think someone suggested calling it House overhaul hour or some such, which is a great improvement. I also like your insubordinate version

Bad luck with dishwasher Pluto, don't know if this sheds any light ...

Hello to Mesdames Gok and Dinky!

Full on day and haven't really attempted any Flying beyond usual routines and facilitating dd's social life!

Hwr, t'was noticeable that dd's ballet, riding and party clothes were waiting clean and ready, in advance this w/e, with accessories on the side, present for party bought 2 wks in advance and wrapped 4 days in advance. DD EARLY for all three activities. This cannot be me doing this....!! It didn't take any extra effort either, it just 'happened' in amongst the usual routines.

Before Flying all of these things would have happened at very last minute (or in case of ballet: we wd have been playing "hunt the tights and leotard" 3 mins before departure)... and we would have been late ...I am not used to this unnatural calm ... so thanks for your support everyone. Still LOADS of decluttering and home office a DISASTER but can safely say basic housework routines now firmly in place and working well. Hurrah!!!! (Not before time!!! ) Ripple effect of Flying benefiting dh and dd hugely too!!

Going to shine my sink for final time tonight, do some ironing and watch House double bill then hit the hay.

In the meantime, back to post about body-clutter.

StillCounting · 24/01/2010 18:16

Notes on Body clutter - please ignore if you are not trying to lose weight!

OK - have studied the Flylady body clutter link and Flylady "Body clutter" book in more detail this week - and if no-one minds I think I am going to stick with the original idea/format (of posting our healthy eating tips once a week) while adding in bits of SIMPLE extra info from the two "Diet Doctor" books I already have which outline "The Eating for Life" food programme.

This ties in with Flylady body clutter system because it is NOT a diet as such, it is not extreme, the main principles are simple and sound, and it is not a quick-fix short-term approach but a healthy lifelong small step system etc etc.

The Flylady coaching bod's site (which MummyD kindly linked) is here You have to subscribe and pay to join the site which I don't really want to do; but he does have some free info such as this if you want to investigate.

The Body Clutter book is all about adding the odd weight loss step in to your existing routines. The baby-steps are not really prescribed but I'll add in bits of info. from it every now and then when approp.

Hope OK with everyone.

Next week's tip coming up!!

StillCounting · 24/01/2010 18:17

Oh no, I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to leave that big gap .... I don't know what happened there ....

StillCounting · 24/01/2010 18:43

Body clutter healthy living tip for week beginning Monday 25th February is:

"Write down what you eat. Sounds prissy but does help keep track. I've lost just over 60lbs and if I don't write it down I forget and eat too much, basically!" (MissBennett)

Congratulations MissBennett btw!!! We are duly inspired!!!

You can do this for one week, one month or as long as you like. The idea is to give you a greater understanding of what you are eating, how much you are eating and how often.

And remember to maintain:

body clutter step number one which is drinking between 1 and 2 litres of water a day

body clutter step number two which is eating five portions of fruit and veg a day

Good luck!!

missbennett · 24/01/2010 19:25

Wow! I am very honoured to have had 'my' tip chosen! Thank you ladies, and I hope it's of use.......

Have done various bits and pieces - I agree with stillcounting - the beauty of flying is that other things do seem to happen more easily, e.g. had left kitchen clear, sink clean etc before church. So when I get back with linen that needs washing, it can go straight into sink whilst lunch is prepared and then out on line with minimal effort. Before, it would have sat in carrier bag and sometime Saturday night (or even Sunday morning!!) I would have remembered and lots of faffing about to do the job - which is a 5 minute one at best!

Anyway, you'll be pleased to know I went to church approrpiately clad - which was a good thing as it was jolly cold in there

Had lovely afternoon out with friend. Came back and found all calm, tea in slow cooker and DDs ready for school - more or less!. And DD1 had made a cake

GOT to have early night tonight as flying to Glasgow tomorrow for meeting and is early start!

Hope you are feeling better tomorrow positiveattitude and everybody else with colds etc.

Tomorrow am going to do some decluttering and make a real effort with it!

havingagiraffe · 24/01/2010 19:45

Evening routine done - yey, even shined the sink and got the washing all ready for the morning which I have recently been slacking with.

Just going to make some tea and toast and settle down for Cranford then a few pages of my book and sleeeeeep.

havingagiraffe · 24/01/2010 20:20

Oh course I now realise I'm watching Lark Rise to Candleford - duh!

MrsDinky · 24/01/2010 20:45

Evening all

HAG hope roast pork was nice, haven't had that for years, yum.

SC thank you for the bodyclutter babysteps, also your concern yesterday. I am not so much lacking in social contact (have quite a few mum friends here, and am on PTA and NCT committee) as not used to staying in my small town for weeks on end, I was just craving some bigger and better shops than we have here yesterday, having not really been out of town since New Year. Came back with several large carrier bags feeling much better!

PA hope you feel better soon.

Had some nice family time today, walk in a local country park, lunch at the cafe and then swimming. Have got a very busy week in store, so I have just menu planned and made my sainsburys order. Also, have chosen a slow cooker (I think). Off on a visit to a local college tomorrow to investigate different ways in which I could potentially train to teach science (WCTR - maybe I will follow in your footsteps).

Night night all.

droitwichmummy · 24/01/2010 21:29

Hello everyone - it looks like everyone has found us

Burns Night Emoticons Yay! [bbiscuit]

MrsD sounds like a lovely day. Go on, tell me which slow cooker you have chosen so I can have a look
hag tea & toast, now there's an idea...
missb someone else who has had a great day. And well done DD1!
SC great organisation! DS's swimming lessons are now 9am but I put his trunks and towel straight back into his bag after they are washed & dried so all I have to do is grab it on Saturday mornings and I know it is all in there
PA lol at "Return of the Chinese Laundry"! Get that timer out and hack away in 15 min chunks - it will soon have gone
Pluto I got the British Gas man out to mine when it stopped working a few weeks ago (covered on their HomeStart package). All he did was clean out the gunk and tilt it. All the water disappeared down the hose and all was well.
Mmmango how about Home Blitzing Hour(ish)?
MrsGok I do s&s at random times of the day. It often gets done whilst DS is in the bath

I got all of my ironing done this morning and it has been put away as well
No Home Blitzing this weekend as not been in but I should get some of it done Wednesday/Thursday instead.

Zone for next week is the living room (can't see my floor for lego atm )

See you in the morning

MiniMarmite · 24/01/2010 22:18

Goodness me, things move so far around here...thanks for starting the new thread Mummy.

Visit going well SC but all still poorly unfortunately...debating whether to go to work tomorrow and may take DS to the GP.

Goodnight All x

MrsDinky · 24/01/2010 22:33

sainsburys slow cooker

Pluto · 24/01/2010 22:38

Thanks for the dishwasher tips SC and DWM I'm going to look at our Home Start agreement with BG - I just assumed that was for the boiler but I might get lucky. But DH thinks it's the motor as the machine in making all kinds of unhappy mechanical noises.

Going to bed now so that I meet our fat fairy's demand of a 10.30pm bedtime deadline (ish). Funny how she doesn't insist we have to stay in bed until 7 though. I'll be up with the larks and fairies - soooo much work stuff to do - but house looks OK!

pushmepullyou · 24/01/2010 23:25

Evening all

Just marking my place and popping in to say hello befor bed

Thanks for the new thread DWM. Sorry you're feeling poorly PA and MM. We are still suffering from the same coldy thing as last week. It has been going on for a fortnight now and I am thoroughly sick of it!

Good flying day yesterday, but not much done to day as the newly promoted No 1 cat decided to go missing for 2 days leaving a trail of blood across the house on his way out. Cue much worry, but he eventually turned up this evening full of holes and attractive festering wounds. We think a dog/fox/badger must have had a chunk out of him, but he seems to be feeling better now following a trip to the emergency vets and half a chicken

SC don't worry about the office - this time next week (well this time and a bit) we will be embarking on our personal office challenge! I will be trying my best with the body clutter tips as I sooo need to lose half a stone (none of my clothes fit )

Hello to Mango, HAGiraffe and the Mrs Gok, Dinky and Bennett and good luck with the dishwasher Pluto, my fragile grip on tidiness would collapse very rapidly if mine broke!

missbennett · 25/01/2010 06:27

Morning! Said it was an early start!! Jst eating my honey and banana porridge then off to the airport

droitwichmummy · 25/01/2010 06:45

Good morning!

Babystep today is a reading one

The mission is a 5 minutes de-junk of the living room.

Have a good flight missb!

See you all later
