Welcome everyone new and (not so) old

If you are new to us here is part 1 in case you need/want to see what we are about.

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/01/2010 20:24

Chaos , yesterday I found a missing Lovefilm DVD down the side of the sofa cushion. I swore I had looked everywhere for it but there it was. Have you tried there for the glasses/watch?

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/01/2010 20:31

MrsDinky · 27/01/2010 21:20

Evening all, sorry not to have been on for a few days, been out a lot, so minimal flying.

Pluto - our DW is a Whirlpool, had it 6 years, never any problems, cleans virtually anything and we never rinse plates beforehand.

PA - hope nosebleed is over, sounds pretty grim. Did you make it to the mainland? I've been down in that direction today, Gosport, visiting friends.

DWM - thank you so much for agreeing to carry on, this is making such a big difference to my life!

MrsG - slowcooker is here, just about to unwrap it. Also a Kenwood minichopper (like Delia's) which "accidentally" found its way into my basket....

SC - bodyclutter steps are working for me. Before Christmas I had lost a few pounds and got down to, shall we say, X stones 6lbs, I haven't weighed myself since then, but decided to bite the bullet today, fearing I would be nearer my old weight of X+1 stones, in fact I was down to X stones 3lbs.

Talulah - I Sky+'d The Good Wife, was hoping to watch it tonight, but probably won't get time now, maybe tomorrow.

Waves at everyone else.

Not much flying really, just DW, washing etc, did a very vague home blessing yesterday, which included a bit of lounge decluttering, dusting, floor sweeping, not the full mission, but better than nothing. Off to get the slowcooker out now, night night.

feetheart · 27/01/2010 21:54

Seem to have been busy today but not sure I've reduced the list by much.

Morning routine - done
15 mins decluttering - living room - no
Mission - no
Room rescue - DS's room maybe - no
Transfer some photos onto USB stick for my Mum - done
Wrap and post parcel for my Mum - done
Wrap and post parcel for belated MN Christmas thingie - wrapped, will post tomorrow
Contact and book people for Pamper Night - done a few and have had some more ideas
Do Newsletter for school Assoc - no
Do poster/flyer for Pamper Night - no
Do invites for Phoenix card party I'm having next Monday!! - done some
Afternoon routine (just check DD's school bag at moment) - done
Evening routine - Need to finish
Bed at sensible time - hope so!

Mmmango - no lions I'm afraid, name is thanks to DD who was 2.9 when DS was born. She used 'f' for lots of words ('fraffe'-giraffe and the brilliant 'freepy-frawlies'-creepy-crawlies ) and used to refer to him as 'my little feetheart' - cute beyond words

Should be working tomorrow morning but have a sneaking suspicion that the Andy Murray match may lure me away

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 27/01/2010 22:30

too tired tocatch up properally. left at 5am and got back about 10.15pm so properally tired. have been very productive.

Plan:
2 schools to view
file to sort
visit friend
All done also done:
2 sixth form class observations
the big custardy/future conversation

Glasses update - ds found his glasses in his made and do drawer. No idea why they were they but they were.

Aparantly he has been an absolute saint today and was unusually tucked up in bed aslesp when i got hoe. Normally expect him waiting up and being awkward. I anticipate either him up for a couple of hours in the night of him stealing my bed in a i'm going to sleep on top of you kinda way. so am off to bed Catch up tomo

missbennett · 27/01/2010 23:52

Quick pop in to say hello though it's really high time I was in bed! Sounds like everybody has had busy days! That's a very long day, wctr - hope tomorrow is less so! Hope you enjoy your slow cooker, mrsd.
Waves to everyone else - can't scroll back a page without losing this and it's getting got late!

Haven't done any flying today beyond basic routines but had a lovely evening with a very good friend who I don't see often enough (she doesn't live near here but down in this area to stay with daughter who has just had baby!) I arrived to pick her up, baby crying as mum expressing . I was offered a cuddle with baby apologetically as baby crying. Love cuddling babies in any state so accepted and babe promptly went to sleep in my arms - . So Brownie points to me and considering hiring myself out as baby getter-to-sleeper! Always easier when not your own

Right, it's nearly midnight so I must go to bed. Night night all.

droitwichmummy · 28/01/2010 07:09

Good morning everyone

chaos hope you managed to get some sleep

Right - babystep is very important today and will fit in well for those of you doing the body declutter

The mission is dusting all those places we think no one can see because they are too high up. Please be careful if you need to stand on a chair or ladder for this one!

OP posts:
droitwichmummy · 28/01/2010 07:26

FEBRUARY THREAD ALERT!!!!!

Mark your place here

That's one thing done on my list today!

OP posts:
MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 28/01/2010 07:38

Morning ladies,

Managed what I set out to do yesterday and all the routines were done, which is great.

Today is going to be the same just the routines, babystep and mission and anything else I manage is a bonus.

Thanks for posting the links mummy and thans for staying with it.

chaos glad that the glasses have been found and yay!! for being a saintly DS. Did he get up in the night?

MissB am at cuddling a baby, lucky you, I am so broody atm. Glad you had a nice time.

MrsD hope you get on with the slow cooker. Keep us up dated on how you get on with it. Found some recipes SC Recipes

Have a good day everyone.

missbennett · 28/01/2010 08:36

Morning all!

Started well but gone downhill! Shouted at DD1 who wanted me to drop everything and deal with D of E and application for trip forms but less co-operative this morning when I'd found them etc. So she's gone off with a 'bag on'

Ditto DD2 regarding science homework - says she's done it though has been saying for WEEKS she doesn't understand it and I have been saying for WEEKS go and see teacher, but this is apparently not possible! Still, at least she had some breakfast today!

Have done my morning routine. It is Guides tonight and we are having a Scottish evening, in honour of Burns night! So they are making porridge and trying haggis. I might count how many times I hear 'Eugh, that looks disgusting' etc etc.
I will try and dust later but off to work now....

Mmmango · 28/01/2010 10:40

feetheart - sweet And I love freepy-frawlies

chaos - hope today's easier for you

mrs.d - congrats on slow-cooker

dwm - thanks for links and thread

miss bennet - I bet twice for each guide and one more. We should do a sweepstake!

Doing well here.

Done
morning routine (inc s&s)
sweep bedroom, sweep outide house (have put both these on Mango's Weekly Thingy List)
15 mins decluttering bookcase
15 mins clearing one of the shelves of toys
bathe baby
mission - yesterday did 'cobweb watch' so going to call it done, anyway

Babystep is in hand, 3f+v and may be more for dinner, lots of water too.

ps. we carry on here till feb 1st, right?

feetheart · 28/01/2010 10:47

dwt - Feb thread duly marked, thanks

WCTR - hope you got a decent night's sleep and that DS continues with his saint-like behaviour as you must be shattered.

missbennett - sorry your DD's upset your good start to the morning, life would be so much simpler without other people sometimes

Going to attempt a shorter, and hopefully more manageable, list today!
So far I have:

Written newsletter for school Assoc
Persuaded DH that going away for the w/e is NOT sensible
Done most of morning routine - still need to do washing up, Hotspot and cat litter
Turned on TV and shouted at Andy Murray already (1 set all, 2 all and 15 all at moment!)

Need to:

Do some work
15 mins decluttering - living room
Dusting
Room rescue - living room again
Contact and book people for Pamper Night
Finish invites for Phoenix card party I'm having next Monday!!
Post parcel
Afternoon routine
Evening routine
Bed at sensible time

Most of that can be done in living room with TV on - maybe I'll do 2 mins at each change of ends and see how I get on

droitwichmummy · 28/01/2010 11:03

Mmmango and anyone else who is wondering - yes we stay on here until the end of January then pop over to the February thread where we start the babysteps from number 1 agin (haven't quite worked out how to deal with short month in Feb but I'll think of something..)

I just open the new thread now so you can all go and mark your spot if you wish to make it easier to find and so that anyone who has been lurking thinking "I really need to do this but would rather start at the beginning of a month" can breathe a sigh of relief and start buying/hoarding cleaning stuff if they feel the need

Really ought to do some work - been to medical appointment this morning so slow start. If you see me back before 2 shout at me please!

OP posts:
MrsDinky · 28/01/2010 11:45

Quick list today

Shopping
Hairdresser
shopping

Also probably the usual swishes etc

Thanks MRsG for the link, you know I look in MoneySavingExpert all the time, but I never knew that bit was there. Bit like MN really!

optimisticmumma · 28/01/2010 12:53

Hi everyone!

Not much achieved here today and am now going to have to go and find out whether Andy Murray is winning/has won!

MissB - had to at your post - sorry. It just reminds me of my household!!Just got a text from DD could I take her tech stuff to school for her? - her school is in the next town! I will but it does cut in to the dusting time I find!!. Good luck with the guides....

MMMango - go and do your CV. I can spot a fellow procrastinator at fifty paces!!

So far today:
yoga done
Ordered currency for DS1 done
Looked into a city break for half term
shopped for bits and bobs done

To do:
Drop DDs stuff to school
Go to my school and do a bit of admin
mission
supper (ribs)
drink water
eat f/v
diary ( am not managing this one - can we repeat it for next week SC.

Hope all are well, children have slept, nosebleeds have stopped and we are all flying high!!!!!!

BTW DH did get his tax return done but can someone tell me why oh why is it like having an extra DC sometimes????

ln1981 · 28/01/2010 12:58

HI everyone. So glad that this is carrying on to next month too. And thank you dwm for agreeing to stay on!!

Not much flying this morning, went to see my friend who sounded like she has had a horrendous week, bless her.

Plan for this afternoon is to do the babystep and mission, sort the laundry, declutter the kitchen again and shine the sink. Nothing too stressful today thankfully. Hope to catch you all later.
Have a nice afternoon.

MrsDinky · 28/01/2010 17:27

OM - tell me about it. DH didn't bother with his tax return this time last year, the taxman stopped chasing him after a few weeks (he only ever owes about £1.50) so he thought he'd got away with it. THen, in about July, very heavy letters started arriving from the taxman, panic panic, could he find his P60? No, because he never files anything. Had to turn over the whole house, never did find it, had to get the figures from his payroll dept in the end. He did manage this years one at the same time, so we're OK this time, but I do hate this rigmarole every year.

I feel really grotty tonight so probably won't be back later.

Pluto · 28/01/2010 18:10

Hurrah it's Friday! (Well, it is the end of the working week for me )

to do
bath baby
collect DS1 from cubs
get junk food on way back to feed DS1 and myself
collapse on sofa and do nothing but MN and catch up with about 4 weeks worth of Sky +'ed programmes.

PositiveAttitude · 28/01/2010 18:51

Evening all.

Haven't managed to get on before now, so quick catch up.

Chaos - Glad the glasses were found.

Feetheart - Lovely reason for teh name. I wont be able to read your name the same ever again!

MrsD - What was for tea tonight? Did you use the slowcooker? Your life will never be the same again!

MrsB - Teenagers can be very trying can't they? I am getting used to absolutely everything in life being MY fault! Hope the DCs have come home feeling more mellow.

OM - Snap on the "I want to drop an AS" conversation. DD2 is very definite what she wants to do, but was encouraged to do an extra course, which has just put more pressure on her. I signed the form this week for her to give one up.
Hope yyou got your money back.

Sorry, haven't got time for any more scrolling. Whoever asked, yes I live on the Isle of Wight.

Waves to SC (hope you are ok), Ellie - Where are you? DWM, Pluto, MM, Oh and everyone else, too.

Here, House has been looking fairly good. Need to catch up a bit with the dusting as I missed that day, but on the whole pretty impressive.
DS (13) has decided that he likes hoovering!! You know how I hate it!! So each day he has done some hoovering. Such a difference!
He has also just cooked the tea tonight. - Teenagers can also be lovely, for all of you who are not quite at the hormonal rage stage yet!

Out tonight for a church business meeting - {either megaboring, or a terrible arguement!!!}
DS had his last nosebleed yesterday at school and did a spectacular pass out in front of everyone! - He really cannot stand the sight of blood! But all seems to ahve settled now. Unfortunately the drains now are blocked, since all the blood went down there. DH has been trying to get them sorted today, but I think we are going to have to call someone out. I hope I am not asked any awkward questions about why huge blood clots are blocking our drains

Excellent shopping trip yesterday. Came back laden with bags and an empty bank account!

Hospital did not go as well as I had planned. Birth defect not caused a problem since huge op 6 years ago for DD4. Without any warning yesterday told that she needs another operation to sort something out!
Also while I was at the hospital my island consultant phoned me about DD3 and she not happy about a few things, so I was feeling more than a little deflated.
Hence the retail thereapy!

Busy day at work tomorrow to catch up from no work yesterday, so not planning on doing a lot of flying.

Have a good evening everyone. Wine ready for my return from meeting - I will flippin need it!!!!!!

droitwichmummy · 28/01/2010 20:43

Hi everyone- wine is open

February thread is warming up nicely - 2 newbies already!

OP posts:
feetheart · 28/01/2010 21:55

OM - sorry I lured you away from a highly productive day by mentioning tennis
Going to have to get up early on Sunday now!

Pluto - hope you are enjoying your evening

PA - yuck, yuck, yuck at blood blocked drains, makes the cat sick I have had to deal with today seem MUCH better

Didn't do badly for rest of day:
Do some work - no
15 mins decluttering - living room - sort of!
Dusting - yes
Room rescue - no
Contact and book people for Pamper Night - on the go
Finish invites for Phoenix card party I'm having next Monday!! - done and delivered
Post parcel - done
Afternoon routine - done
Evening routine - need to finish
Bed at sensible time - hope so

Am going on school trip with DD's class tomorrow which should be 'interesting'! Not much Flying going to happen though.

MiniMarmite · 28/01/2010 22:17

Oh ladies,

am having a bad couple of days

work really not good at the moment.

Thank goodness for DH, DS, friends and family and all of you

oh, and silent witness (don't know if you saw this evening's episode but DH looked a bit concerned when I said that it cheered me up)!

Mmmango thanks so much for the crisis cleaning link, am going to look at it now.

Goodnight all

missbennett · 28/01/2010 22:38

Evening all!

OM so reassuring to know iot's not just our house where any equilibrium is so easily shattered!

feetheart, enjoy your school trip tomorrow!

MMango - you could have won! They all turned their noses up at haggis, but, when pursuaded to try, several of them said it was 'lush'! Ditto the porridge! funny things, girls!

pa hope the retail shopping helped and all treatments successful. DD1 had heart surgery when she was a baby and it was horrible.

mrsd hope you are feeling better tomorrow

minimarmite hope things improve for you. I am looking forward to catching up with silent witness this weekend

And thank you DWM for the new thread. I'll be along to mark my spot shortly.

As far as flying goes, basic rountine only, not even done the mission But lots of clearing up after Guides due to cooking and HAMA beads on floor so too late to start. I will try and catch up at the weekend. Did hoover though - had to because the hairdresser came! Sadly, I can't convince my teenagers that they would enjoy hoovering!

Right, am enjoying a nice glass of red Tis medicinal after Guides

droitwichmummy · 29/01/2010 06:43

Good morning!

Couldn't get out of bed this morning so quick posts

You MUST try to do today's mission! This is what she is talking about - enjoy!

I've already done today's mission as a friend bought me some flowers!

See you later!

OP posts:
droitwichmummy · 29/01/2010 06:44

Whoops - first 'mission' should have read 'babystep'
