Are we all ok?

To help you recover from the journey the babystep today is a 'catch up' one

Today's mission requires a ladder

The Christmas mission is about decluttering

Off to put the kettle on. Back in a minute

Hooray! List completed for the first time this week Just need to go to bed and I'm done.

Looks like most of us have been busy today. Have we all got shiny sinks

PMPY I think a smoked salmon and kale quiche counts as lots of flying
DTG I agree, if you are able to get anyone paid or unpaid with anything around the house, take it
MrsD I always think of plenty of things which are not on my list as well. Try to get into a routine of things like 1 load of washing and 15 mins ironing each day; I find that helps
DEM were our DS's separated at birth? You have done really well with all the work you have done this week
OM fab work getting back on track
ellie hope you enjoyed your chinese. How shiny is your sink?
Queen looks like you are getting it right - babysteps are the way to go
Squid I think I'll be joining you with the menu planning in December. DH will be working evenings so I will have to cook
SC I've done 15 mins in my spare room and have not noticed any difference. How is your office?
Annabel hope you are feeling better now the antibiotics are working. If you feel you are doing too much, you might be right - babysteps and 15 mins declutter are all you need to do until they become automatic

If there is anyone I've missed I'm sorry but there are so many of us now

10.30 so off to bed. See you all tomorrow!

OP posts:
pushmepullyou · 19/11/2009 22:34

Right - I've done it (nearly!).

It's half 10 and I'm off to bed

SC, if you're about - GO TO BED NOW

positiveattitudeonly · 19/11/2009 22:39

Wine??? Any chinese going??? Chocolate cake??? Severe case of the nibbles here.

Car has been sorted and free of charge, thanks to the lovely builders. Can't moan about dust and mess today then. One thing I can moan about is the fact that they leave the toilet seat up. Bug bear number 1! Week 2 after being married I told DH that if we were going to live together and use the same bathroom ruke number 1 was toilet seat down. DS has never lifted a toilet seat in his life, so they are now trained well. It is really doing my head in every time I go into the bathroom! Can I keep quiet for another couple of weeks?

Ellie if you have a small case of cba I ost definitely have a capital and in bold CBA case. We can get back on track, though. And it won't be so hard to sort it out.

Back to work tomorrow in the asbestos office. All sorted now, so will have a mammoth catch up session tomorow. (Joy!!)

Off for a chat with DH as he is getting irritating, annoying, a little bored.

Evening all.

droitwitchmum · 20/11/2009 06:49

Good morning fledglings!

Babystep today is an important one - laundry!

Today's mission is cleaning baseboards (is that skirting boards?) and 5 mins in craft area. I need to do that but it will take a lot longer than 5 mins. Perhaps I'll make it my decluttering area as well today.

Christmas mission looks scary - reviewing the budget

My list then:
dressed (still in pjs)
breakfast
DH up
make lunch
empty WM done but need to put it on airer
empty DW
hotspot - dining table done

later
20 mins craft areas(I have 2)- mission & declutter
wipe down skirting boards in bathroom
hotspot x 2- DS' table & cupboard in living room
swish & swipe
shine sink

Have a good day everyone

positiveattitudeonly · 20/11/2009 07:10

Morning, morning.

According to fat fairy flylady, nothing says "I love you more than clean underwear". Believe me, I totally agree with clean underwear being essential, but .....get a life!!

Today I need to:

Unload/load DW
Sandwiches x6 (or 7, not sure yet)
Laundry (must get clean underwear!!- kidding, just want to get ahead for the weekend)
Swish and swipe done
Get to work on time - miracle needed!!
Cram 10 hours of work into as short a time as possible
Do home paperwork, very much overdue!

Can't think straight at the moment, so will stick with that for now.

Frantic waves to everyone and apologies for lack of personal messages.

Have a good day everyone!

walkthedinosaur · 20/11/2009 07:30

Hello everyone, I'm afraid I've been hiding on here for the last day or so and hanging my head in shame. House in chaos, no flying done, but feel like I haven't stopped.

Nothing done again this morning but hopefully will get through paid work in good time so I can get back to flying.

Do you ever feel like you're on a giant hamster wheel?

Am off - hello to new flyers, sorry I haven't remembered your names yet, hope you've got off to a "flying" start.

And a big hello to everyone else. I don't want to be back on this thread until I tell you I've achieved something.

Annabel1 · 20/11/2009 08:58

Morning all! Will post properly later - but in case anyone still has the muchies the choccie biscuit tin is open!
Feel as if I'm a recovering messaholic and this is my meeting! Definitely feel the support from you guys is keeping me focussed.

List today:
up, dressed etc
breakfast
hoover
15 mins declutter in ds room
preschool runs
sing and sign
process laundry, maybe iron 15 mins
dinner
laundry on
s and s
shine sink

Keep flying - and those who are feeling back under the pile of stuff again - shine the sink! CBA begone! (but no guilt - always the start of my slippery slope into messy decline)

MrsDinky · 20/11/2009 09:23

Morning all

Thanks for the tip DWM, I agree it is easier to do things every day in small chunks, but on DC at home days there never seems to be a right time, don't feel safe with DCs underfoot, nowhere out of reach to put the iron if they interrupt me. And can't be bothered in the evenings. Silly thing is once I start I do like it.

Today's list

Hooray, no skirting boards in my bathroom. Will do dining room ones instead
Craft area is tiny - 5 mins will do
DW
Washing
School run - done
Visit friend
S+S - done
Ironing
Go to school disco

shonaspurtle · 20/11/2009 09:32

Hello all. I was on a Fly thread about 3 years ago I think but have since re-descended into clutter, chaos and a dull sink.

However! I've got people coming round tomorrow so have spent the last 2 days on a massive cleaning frenzy and have a tidy flat to start from. Really want to beat my personal best of 3 weeks tidy before it all falls apart again.

The mess really gets me down, plus we need to move and I can't even start thinking about all the repairs we need to do when the basic tidying seems to overwhelming.

Got to go out now and then tackle some particularly obstinate clutter areas (can't remember the Fly terminology) - ie the places ds can't reach so everything gets dumped.

Markinging my place and will be back..

shonaspurtle · 20/11/2009 09:33

Markinging? See, even my words are untidy

Pluto · 20/11/2009 09:59

Excuse Mrs Fat Fairy but in your laundry babystep just where do you propose we fit in our ironing? And what if I don't use my tumble dryer? I can't just fold DH's work shirts and put them away. For me laundry is not a babystep, it is a forever present mountain of cotton that takes over my spare room and I see no way round this.

Today's list...

Tidy up after family party for DS1 yesterday done
make beds done
DS1 sorted with children in need spotty stuff for school done
school run in rain done
d/w emptied and loaded done

s/s
ironing
haircut
pack awayday bag for DS2 tomorrow
quick trip to Argos
dry cleaner to pick up suit for DH
bathroom mission

don't have a craft area so will spend 15mins in DS1's bedroom clearing his desk.

I have made it to bed by 10.30pm two nights in a row >

QueenofDreams · 20/11/2009 10:00

Hi shona
Morning all.
Well I'm up and dressed at least. Todays baby step is to do what I've already done.
So I need to:
Do washing up,
get laundry out to dry
Wipe kitchen counters off
Shine sink.

I'm also tempted to have a quick wizz round the living room just to tidy up a bit (without having a major blitz effort obviously)

optimisticmumma · 20/11/2009 10:08

Morning all! Stong coffee perking and warm doughnuts on the plate - I have just been to Tesco (smug emoticon)

Annabel LOL at messaholic: I couldn't agree more

It's horrible hear today but luckily no flooding - hope none of you are living in floody places...

To do:

Tesco DONE yay!
DW on done
Wash Ds2 rugby kit for match tomorrow...
Ironing
Kitchen rescue done
Mission to do

Yikes at Christmas mission - just not going there....

On the up side:
Coffee with friend
Lunch with different friend!

Better get a move on....

QueenofDreams · 20/11/2009 10:11

pluto I feel your pain. No dryer here either, so the house is constantly covered in clothes - radiators, chairs, piano, bookcase, doors they all have clothes hanging on them. ANd the clothes take DAYS to dry.

optimisticmumma · 20/11/2009 10:11

X posts with Pluto ( I know wxactly what you mean re the laundry - I think we just try to do it daily instead of in one enormous go...)and QoD - how are you doing?
Welcome shona

havingagiraffe · 20/11/2009 10:26

Squidmission · 20/11/2009 10:38

dreamteamgirl · 20/11/2009 12:37

Hi all and welcome to shonaspurtle

Good luck tackling your 'hotspots' and well done on getting to a having people round stage.

Now just do 15 minutes 2 or 3 times a day and hoorah your flat stays nice!! Are you going to follow the baby steps to build your routines?

MiniMarmite · 20/11/2009 13:11

Oh gosh, I'm days behind with housework and, more importantly, all the news from here!

Hello everyone and welcome to the newcomers - Squid and Shona and anyone else that I haven't welcomed.

Ladies, my friend's visit went really well up to the point where I opened a kitchen cupboard and there was an avalanche of tupperware . My friend didn't bat an eyelid - we've known each other for 10 years and, being a bloke, messy cupboards weren't really anything to write home about anyway!

DWM, you're being such a great leader but I am not being a very good student at the moment - I'm managing the routines that I'm established in but anything new I just keep forgetting. Going to have to look back further in the thread to work out what cba is but I feel like I probably have it! Oh, now I think about it I get it...yes, that's me!

Pluto I am with you on the ironing thing!

OM - did you go to tesco without us nagging?!

HAG - have a lovely day tomorrow and great news on the jeans

SC no worries re the drier, glad it is partially sorted and that you had some help with the ironing too.

There are so many of us now but here goes an attempt at saying hello to ellie, MrsDinky DTG DEM PMPY PAO WTD and a big wave to everyone I have inevitably missed!

MiniMarmite · 20/11/2009 13:17

Sorry, me again. I'm going to have to post a list or really nothing will get done.

S&S - done
DW on - done
hang washing out, do another load, hang out
make shopping list
shop
hotspots (what happens if this is the whole house )
change DS's sheets
sweep wooden/kitchen floors
wash kitchen floor
buy nephew's birthday present
make dinner
clean and tidy kitchen
fold clean clothes and put away, make ironing pile
make tomorrow's dinner
clothes out for tomorrow
shine sink

Squidmission · 20/11/2009 13:33

Minimarmite I need to write lists too. It really makes things more manageable when its written down so you done'just sit there going 'argh! I've got so much to do!'

My update

laundry - done
admin - done
clean kitchen
clean bathroom
exercise dvd - done
15 mins in each bedroom
cook
hoover
mop

Have got much to do still.....

elliepac · 20/11/2009 13:58

Just to clarify MM, cba means can't be arsed

Off back to work now.

MrsDinky · 20/11/2009 14:32

Mrs Dinky has finished her filing! At last! For the new people, I had hoarded 20 years worth of paperwork in the loft, this month I have got it all down, thrown most of it away, had a good trip down memory lane and set up a new filing system for stuff I need to keep/future use. It has taken a lot of work but I have had some lovely support on this thread. Thank you everyone!

Now I need to brace myself for the school disco (I have the sort of limpet kids that won't let me leave them there, I have to stay and enjoy...)

Pluto · 20/11/2009 14:35

Quick update on my earlier list...

haircut done and I look MUCH better than this morning.

Havingagiraffe congrats on the jeans. I have stopped Bfing now so have no excuse to eat cake but mummy tummy is still wibbly wobbly and I've gotta keep on runnin'

I'm watching the Children in Need concert that was on BBC1 last night. I should be ironing. Leona's dress is quite something.
