Are we all ok?

To help you recover from the journey the babystep today is a 'catch up' one

Today's mission requires a ladder

The Christmas mission is about decluttering

Off to put the kettle on. Back in a minute

OP posts:
elliepac · 19/11/2009 06:59

DWM am with you all the way. So far this month has been rather poor on the flying front and with Christmas on the horizon I really need to get back on track. Tonight is the first night this week that I have nothing on so am going to concentrate on getting routines back in place and possibly the mission. Definitely back to babysteps for me

Will check in later (hopefully will not feel the need for an alcoholic beverage halfway through the working day today )

Have a good day one and all.

optimisticmumma · 19/11/2009 09:04

Morning all.Anyone care to join me in a strong coffee?

I am feeling a bit on the slow side today. DS1 didn't get off the train until 11.20 last night and then DH appeared at 1 am!!

Can anyone tell me - when you get to the detailed cleaning bit in the zones is it still in 15 min chunks??

Today:

morning routine
empty dw done
reboot washing
paperwork for school
collect tag rugby belts and drills book from school for DS1 (volunteering tomorrow in Southwark!! Probable baptism of fire )
sort out proper shopping list for tesco
continue writing cards (liked that mission!)
Pay bills
Make a cake
Supper?
Do bathroom missions

I think I'll go and lie down first!

Hope everyone has a good day and that the poorlies are feeling better!

MrsDinky · 19/11/2009 09:14

Morning everyone,

Today looks like another busy one

DCs to school /nursery - done
Washing and DW - on
Bathroom - not out of anything, but floor needs cleaning, will do that instead of mission
5 min tidy of DS room
5 min tidy and run vac round front room/hall
Get car tax
Emails
Get tea (friends coming) prepared before meeting at school this afternoon
Do some Christmas shopping

See you later

Annabel1 · 19/11/2009 09:35

I'm with babysteps. I am in danger of crashing and burning as usual with all these cleaning things. Better this am, and antibiotics seem to have kicked in (temp normal again).
so hve
emtied and reloaded dw
up dressed etc
15 mins declutter (although unfocussed)

will do:
laundry load and process yesterdays
dinner
dd and ds to toddler group
dd to preschool and parent meeting there
coffee with friend
dinner
s and s
shine sink
bed early

OM - I'm no expert but the cleaning I did in the bathroom this week was in lovely small chunks. Five mins if your bathroom is small if that.

Hooray for ds - woke up just before I went to bed, settled back and heard nothing til five!
Good luck all

dreamteamgirl · 19/11/2009 11:29

Hi all

Sorry for going absent and thnaks for all the kind messages.

Great news is DS is lots and lots better and back at school today. I think it is probably a little early but he was jumping on sofa last night and bounced so long and hard that he giggled and wet himself - thank god for leather sofas!! So I figured I would send him in but take the unprecedented step of driving him there and back.

OM re: detailed cleaning. I still do it in 15 minute chunks mostly- occasionally I will run 2 x 15 mins together, but always with the timer. That said flylady does a weekly home blessing HOUR, so that is more... Mind that is 6 jobs or so so its still chunks isnt it [[http://www.flylady.net/pages/FLYFaq.asp#whbh home blessing]

Havent done any missions this week obviously but I will have a glance in a mo and see what I can do as a catch up.

Amazingly house is still fairly nice despite week of poorly child (and poorly AP) and trying to work from home so chuffed with that. Routines are of course slightly blown, but they can be pulled back I hope...
Leading into yes DWM I amm slightly off, so a fresh start is a great idea- see thats why you are a great leader

WTD Congrats, sounds like you got job
Annabel hope the boobs are ok
Pluto did you get to bed on time? And whats on time? Normal for me is about 12, but I want it to be 11, or even 10.30.
TIBNI Awesome! So nice when the benefits of flying show themselves isnt it?
QoD Welcome aboard. How is Day 2 going?
Hi ellie How are you doing hun?
hi to MrsDinky*
Hi to SC I like your description of us as obsessed with lists and wine and how great is it that you got your drier fixed through a flying thread?!
Waves to giraffe, POA, Marmite PMPY and anyone else I have missedand WTG to whoever made the chutney. Loathe the stuff myself but still suitably impressed

optimisticmumma · 19/11/2009 11:31

Glad you're feeling better Annabel and well done to baby DS - ahh!

morning routine done
empty dw done done

sort out proper shopping list for tesco to do

optimisticmumma · 19/11/2009 11:33

X posts DTG. Am so pleased your Ds is fine now and you sound in control! Wow!

Catch up later....

StillCounting · 19/11/2009 12:05

Hello everyone, just flapping through ...

Thank heavens coffee is strong - thank you Optimistic - , yes, I think zone cleaning is in 15 min chunks -

this is the bit that explains it I think

50 presents !!!! ... That is heroic!! I thought I had it bad with 17 first cousins on one side and 8 on the other ...and they all have young dc ....!!

Lordy Droitwich - um, I think your definition of 'struggling' may be a bit different to mine!!! ....your lists are incredible!!! ....I think my Flying may fall under category of "officially woeful" ie happy if I can see the floor Hope your ds allows you a little more shut-eye tonight ...

Your lists are inspiring too MrsDinky and Annabel (glad you are feeling better by the way)

Oh don't be a spoilsport Elliepac was counting on you joining me for a pink gin at three ....

Pluto - how is baby-step 17 going for you??? I'm struggling with this one too!! If you see me on here after 10.30pm then feel to give me a firm kick up the rear direct me elsewhere....

Yay tibni - great that the Flying is all coming together for you ...

QueenofDreams - yes the blitz-nothing-blitz-nothing pattern is something I am trying to break ... still working on it ...particularly horrible when guests come ... all the stress beforehand .. staying up until 2am to make the place presentable ... then too tired to enjoy their visit ..... Thanks to Flying, I have actually managed to keep the place looking reasonably OK after my most recent guest left (first time ever!!!) ...It's a kind of "gently relentless" system... miss a day or two and the newspapers pile up in the sitting room or the clothes pile up on master bedroom floor ....but keep just doing one bit every day then things really do start to change ...

Must stop typing and actually DO some of my list so frantic wing flap to anyone I have missed, such as PA, Einstein Mini-Marmite (hope guest visit going ok) and everyone else I have missed ...

BTW - has anyone seen Dreamteam - hope her ds is OK ???

And where is ShoppingVeggie?

Morning routine done
S&S done

  • More workmen today
  • But fortnightly ironing lady been and gone and has finished ironing all that washing I have been doing = x 4 paniers [hurray] [want to kiss her feet and garland her with flowers emoticon!!!]
(extravagant I know but as dh travels constantly for work, we rarely go to eat out or go on hols for that matter, so have rationalised expense of it to myself) plus I love putting away all the neatly laundered piles [saddo emoticon] 2 loads more of washing done

to do:
French study
buy some 2 presents and deliver a letter
tidy up master bedroom
DE-CLUTTER OFFICE

Have a good afternoon everyone!

StillCounting · 19/11/2009 12:08

x-posts Dreamteam - you see, you were missed!!!

StillCounting · 19/11/2009 12:17

ah, pressed 'post' too soon

... and brilliant that you ds is back at school Dreamteam and that Flying has made kept everything going

See you all later!

Squidmission · 19/11/2009 12:24

Can I join here please?
The state of my house, well upstairs really, is really depressing me.
I'm not naturally tidy person so the place looks really messy all the time. It is clean, I hasten to add, it just gets messy very quickly. My biggest problem is clothes!

I've had a look at some Fly stuff and I like the idea of 15min slots to do things.

I'm off to clean the kitchen, sort out some lunch for ds2 and make a start on dinner.

QueenofDreams · 19/11/2009 12:32

Hi everyone.
Well this mornign the dress to shoes bit didn't go quite as planned. I failed to wake before DS, so my morning was spent giving him brekkie, getting him dressed and bf CONSTANTLY. I eventually got washed dressed etc after I got him down for a nap.
On the plus side, all my washing up is done, and nappies outside on the line to dry

To do:
Shine sink.

droitwitchmum · 19/11/2009 14:04

Hello Squid! Welcome aboard. QueenofDreams only joined yesterday and a couple of others are recent additions so you are very welcome too.
I am not naturally tidy either and neither is DH so the 15 min bursts of decluttering and later on the 2 minute hotspots are ideal for us.
Have a nose around the flylady site - try any of the links on my post from this morning and you will get there. That will give you a good idea of what is in store but remember that at first it is babysteps only! It can be tempting to have a blitz then run out of steam.
If you pop by later someone should have the wine open.

OP posts:
elliepac · 19/11/2009 16:09

Evening everyone, just a quick peek before I go and pick DS up from choir.

A big welcome to Squid, if your upstairs is untidy yet clean, you are on up on me already and I've been here for 3 months .

SC pink gin at three? See you there

DTG ...we missed you and I missed my idol . Glad DS is back at school and back on form.

Big waves to everyone else. Back for a proper catch-up later and to tell you what I haven't managed to achieve today

elliepac · 19/11/2009 16:10

Oh beggar, that should say "you are one up on me already," . And they let me teach children?

Squidmission · 19/11/2009 17:22

Thanks for the welcome
So today I've managed to just keep on top of things;

Living room is fairly tidy, kitchen is ok, dinner is ready.

The upstairs is still a mess

Tomorrow I need to do the same as today and do one laundry load and clean the bathroom.

I've started to meal plan and I've found it really helpful. I did it for the first time 2 weeks ago and did a 4 week plan. I was very proud of myself

DidEinsteinsMum · 19/11/2009 18:04

Welcome to the new people.

Wow, you have all been busy this week. well done on all the super flying! hope the poorly people are starting to feel better.

THis week has been an absolute nightmare. vertually no sleep, no flying and as a result chaos and disorder have reigned. I actually turn up at school forgetting i had a class first period. Had taught that lesson to another class and managed to wing it. the only issue was that 2 lessons got taught in one go.I have a I have forgotten to do list longer then my to do list .
So this weekend the plan is to get back on track. here's hoping. Tomorrow i am starting back at basics and babysteps.

Opens a bottle of wine and leaves on the table for the hard workers!

QueenofDreams · 19/11/2009 18:15

Well I feel like I've done fairly well today.
Kitchen is nearly clean
Laundry dried, but I need to go get it off the line
Baby fed
Me dressed, with hair straightened and a little makeup on

Still to do:
evening washing up
shine the sink.

Welcome squid you're definitely ahead of me - my downstairs is messy and dirty

  • my upstairs is a bomb site
optimisticmumma · 19/11/2009 19:25

Thanks for wine DEM am on my second glass already!
Feeling like I'm back on track...

morning routine done
empty dw done done
reboot washing done
paperwork for school done
collect tag rugby belts and drills book from school for DS1 (volunteering tomorrow in Southwark!! Probable baptism of fire )done
sort out proper shopping list for tesco to do
continue writing cards (liked that mission!)done
Pay bills done
Make a cake done -sort of made cup cakes insteadSupper?done and eaten
Do bathroom missions done

All I have to do now is get the teens off facebook, interrupt snogging between DS and GF and get everyone to bed at a reasonable time!

Welcome squid!

I am in awe of all you flyers with little babies - I could never have done this then...I can't even remember the first 6 months of DC3's life -As I said before, I have to make up the stuff for his baby book as he gets so affronted that I can't remember anything, so well done for even thinking about shiny sinks!

elliepac · 19/11/2009 19:53

Well, as promised, have popped back to say I have done.....nothing. But I am going to do......nothing. Please someone motivate me because I have a severe case of cba at the moment . On a positive note, pre-flying cba would last for weeks with no feelings of remorse whatsoever...now i can almost hear the fat fairy whispering in my ear ," do the babysteps, you know you want to...go on i dare you...shine that sink. In fact I command you, shine that sink now!" . So something is working...sort of.

OM oh my life, am dreading the day I have to deal with girlfriends and the like... boyfriends will never be a problem because DH will have locked DD up in her bedroom by the age of 12 so no worries there .

DEM you may not realise this but did you know you have actually passed on of the most fundamental stages in teacher development. It is called, "oh shit, I've forgotten I had a lesson". Ofsted/PGCE tutors may not refer to it but talk to any teacher and the ability to fly by the seat of your pants is essential to quality to teaching so well done! Gold Star and straight to the top of the class (speaking as one who quite often flies by the seat of her pants in a school where they have a stupid two week timetable and she is so disorganised she alway forgets what week it is ) . Thanks for the wine. AM going to enjoy a glass with my takeaway (CHinese, yum, that's how bad my case of cba is...can't even be bothered to cook!)

Big waves to everyone else...chinese here!

DidEinsteinsMum · 19/11/2009 20:06

Mentor suggested it might be a good idea to get ahead next week as i have a light time table. he'd like to see that i have 1 weeks worth of plans in advance. I think he was slightly worried by my lack of organisation. To be fair i'd only had 2 1/2 hours sleep due to ds discovering a new obsession. I am still tired at getting very ratty at someone who wont go to bed, stay in bed or sleep. Little shit darling that he is.

MrsDinky · 19/11/2009 20:25

Hello everyone, welcome Squid

Determined to not spned too much time on the computer tonight, so a quick post. I am having one of those moments where you feel quite pleased that you managed most things on your list, but since you wrote it have remembered at least half a dozen other things that should have been on the list so I still feel a bit behind. I have possibly got so focused on the decluttering that other stuff like ironing is falling by the wayside, so I'm backing off on the big de-clutter for a bit now.

See you tomorrow

dreamteamgirl · 19/11/2009 20:32

Did someome say wine? Yummy! Make mine a white please

Really havent looked at the missions, but to be honest my bathrooms are pretty much always clean so not overly worried- the benefits of flying and swish & swipes!!

WB DEM and well done on passing observation

Wel done to QoD
and a HUGE welcome to Squid
Just follow the baby steps,a nd if you can face it 15 mins of decluttering upstairs and I promise if you stay with us, in a month you will not recognice your upstairs. In fact to be on the safe side, take a photo or two now to remind yourself

OM OMG GIRLFRIENDS, shudder. At least DS is only 4.5, so I have a while before any girls get their claws into him LMAO!!

Thanks to Ellie (who always makes me feel good!) and to SC. An ironing lady is an essential not an extravagance, and I wont hear anything to the contrary.

pushmepullyou · 19/11/2009 20:41

Evening all, and welcome squid

Well I am no further forward, but no further back than I was 2 days ago. Morning and evening routines done along with laundry and dishwasher and everything is reasonably clean and tidy, but not particularly impressive!

I think I have caught ellie's cba

Did make lovely hot smoked salmon and kale quiche for tea though, which was delicious if I do say so myself. And I have been thwarted by emergency paid work on my day off!

DEM I don't think I deserve a glass of wine, but may I have one anyway?

SC I too am struggling with the 10:30 bed time, but really need to give it a go as I am knackered at the moment and it's making me inefficient at everything and I am really falling behind, particularly at work. Yey for the ironing by the way. I love ironed clothes, but hate ironing more - just don't have space for it in my life at the moment!

General wave QoD, DWM, OM, DTG, Annabel and the rest of the thread

droitwitchmum · 19/11/2009 21:31
