Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I'll also post Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm, making the coffee and brewing tea.

Good luck!

Morning (just) all. Elliepac present and correct.

Thank the lord this place is working again,I didn't know what to do with myself this morning....i ended up having to play with the DC's FGS

Nearly posted on the last thread but just managed to make it over her...and i haven't reverted to non-halloween name yet.

Welcome to Leeloo. If you want to find which posts are new if you click on threads i'm on and the newesy posts come up and it will tell you how many posts there have been since you last posted. Don't worry about not keeping up. This is a busy thread because we all like gossiping cleaning and it is impossible to always reply to everyone and no-one will get offended if you just do a big wave and say you haven't the time. Good luck with the flying. FWIW I have been here 2 months and haven't really mastered the babysteps yet

Also a big welcome back to Jumbs. Happy flying!

DEM I guess from your namechange that things are a little tricky at your end....I know there is nothing I can physically do but sending you big hugs and hope it gets better soon.

HAG thanks for the coffee, I'll take a Times

Well, we had a fantastic halloween party last night. JUst us, Dsis's family and our closest 'couple' friend and their DC's and much merriment and apple bobbing was had by all...still cleaning the bloody fake cobwebs from everywhere though (some are probably real

Another quite productive day here:-

DW been through/unloaded
2 loads of washing done/being dried
Mountain of clothes put away
General tidy
Swish and swipe
Sunday Lunch roasting as we speak.

To do:-
Iron DS's uniform
Clear our car (this may take some time)
Afternoon snooze in front of film

Anyway, must go and put veg on.

DWM it's all yours...off we go

helliepac · 01/11/2009 12:04

x-posts with SC...good luck with your list although am sure the world will not end if you don't do it...it is sunday after all .

Pluto · 01/11/2009 12:46

I have reverted to my original MN name: Pluto I was just Paranoid for October!

Had a great day out yesterday but came home to Halloween chaos. Clearly DH and both DSs had had lots of fun too! We have such a small amount of space downstairs it's really difficult to keep things straight during the daytime. We have a through lounge / diner, a small kitchen and a long, narrow hall. I have to keep the pram in the dining room and once a few toys come out we really are on top of each other. We need to move but that's a whole other thread...

My November jobs are:

babysteps and decluttering

Get Christmas shopping done. We are on a budget this year as I'm on mat leave and my pay has now run out, so I think we're going to negotiate not getting gifts for adults in the family.

Start planning to return to work. I am the Head of English in a large secondary school - I need to get on top of my prep and get my brain in gear again.

I also want to start a bit of a fitness thing. I had a c/s in Feb and haven't done any aerobic exercise for 8 months. I need to get rid of the mummy tummy so my work wardrobe fits in January. I think running is the way forward but I'd really like to find a running partner.

Hope everyone is feeling snug and cosy on this wet November day. The heating has gone at last in the Pluto household!

dreamteamgirl · 01/11/2009 12:47

Hi everyone

Been away for a day or two, but great to see everyone still going

Jumbs can totally relate to the rabbit in headligths feeling, and yes, decluttering in the zones is a great idea

brussels welcome aboard. I get all the mails, but have them filtered so they go into a seperate folder. Then I just skim the titles, read the ones I want to and bulk delete the rest- one of the babysteps is actually to delete all your fly lady emails

sleepisnotoptional Hope things are better soon

WTD so so sorry about your dog. Huge hugs to your family. Cherry tree sounds like a lovely resting place.

CTGH/ SC -it took me ages to figure out who you were- then read the post and recognised the supportive nature and knew it was you. Thansk for all you did last few months, and so glad you are still here

leeloo welcome aboard. I feel sure there must be a way of seeing new posts using watch this thread, but I dont know how.

Hello to HAG, DWM and MM and anyone else I missed

My home is a bit messy- I threw a relatively inpromptu halloween party for Sam and 7 local kids. Was so much fun- just 4pm-6pm last night, including trick or treating on preagreed neighbours doors (mostly parents of the children at party) so a bit of crisis cleaning in lounge needed.

The really REALLY great news was when my mum and sister came round to help get party ready they were only needed for 45 mins to hang decorations and and cookie cut sandwiches NOT to clean or tidy. AND they both noticed this and commented on it

I think my mum was almost put out about it, as at the end when we were just clearing the plates and so on up she kept saying 'oh its just like when I used to have to help you clean up BEFORE a party...' Wasnt sure how I felt at those comments as it felt like a dig, but I think thats just my inner child

Later guys

Pluto · 01/11/2009 12:47

The heating has gone on in the Pluto household.

dreamteamgirl · 01/11/2009 12:49

Cross posted with pluto and missed hellie so another wave

hellsbelles · 01/11/2009 13:01

morning all....just marking my stop and looking forward to starting the decluttering.

My DH keeps muttering about Anthea turner but I think he is actually quite pleased that the house is no longer chaos!

MiniMarmite · 01/11/2009 13:23

Happy Birthday Pushme

That's all for now, back later!

elliepac · 01/11/2009 13:30

just a quick peek in after eating a huge sunday roast. It was quite nice even if i do say so myself. Think have finally cracked roast potatoes 15 years after moving out of home .

Pluto I know what you mean about getting brain back in gear after maternity leave. I'm Head of History in a large secondary school and it took me a good month or maybe even longer to get back into it and learn how to hold an intelligent sounding conversation

DTG i too am still clearing up after a Halloween party - did most of it last night but keep finding stuff everywhere! Your mum sounds exactly like mine....nothing like a back-handed compliment! But go you for not having to clean before....me neither really...result!

Anyway, I have that Sunday afternoon feeling going on. DD gone for nap so am going to snuggle on sofa and watch a film with DS before I tackle the car....if it ever stops raining.

Have a nice afternoon.

elliepac · 01/11/2009 13:33

Oh, I nearly forgot...a massive happy birthday Pushmepullyou 33 is nothing to be ashamed of I hope as I reach that milestone in a few months time. We are but spring chickens . Hope you have had a fabulous day and got spoilt rotten

walkthedinosaur · 01/11/2009 15:15

Yay, I've made it, happy 1st November everyone, only 1 pay day left till Christmas .

Thanks everyone for their kind wishes about our dog, they were lovely.

DS2's Halloween party went well yesterday, I'm still finding gunge everywhere but everyone had a great time.

So done:-

Sunday lunch made, eaten and kitchen cleaned
Swished and swiped
Sink is shining

To do:-

Make tea for DC's as DS2 didn't eat all his lunch and is now wailing.
Bath for DS's and then early night
Mop kitchen floor after everyone has gone to bed
Do ironing

Thanks so much CTGH for your hand holding over the last two months and and well done DWM on taking over the mantle.

Welcome to all the new flyers, good luck with your flying for November.

Namechangers, I've got the brain capacity of a flea I'm never going to remember who you were/are so you've got to bear with me.

pushmepullyou · 01/11/2009 16:32

Happy November everyone.

Happy birthday to me and would you like a piece of cake? It's very chocolatey and yummy!

no flying for me today, although I have managed the washing and the dishwasher.

I suppose it is too early for wine?

dreamteamgirl · 01/11/2009 16:56

Oooh happy birthday PMPY

Heating on here too Pluto flippin freezing isnt it?

What were oyu doing to the car Ellie?

elliepac · 01/11/2009 17:06

DTG My car contains my life....ie paperwork, school stuff, kids clothes, evidence of kids diet (crisp packets etc.), toys etc. etc. It is a disgrace and always last on my list of things to do. Unfortunately for me, DH's car is in at the garage tomorrow for MOT so he has to use mine for work. Therefore the need to finally getting round to clean it out. He works in the construction industry as a joiner so doesn't need to be clean but does need to be able to seat more than one grown up and have some space in the boot . I have made that space but was there for half an hour just taking stuff out and still haven't got it all...too cold to carry on. That stuff now cluttering my already cluttered hallway.

Bet you wish you'd never asked

Back to work tomorrow . I love holidays but I also hate them because it makes me wish that I could afford to become a SAHM. . Don't mind me, I'll be over it by 10am tomorrow!

StillCounting · 01/11/2009 18:47

Hi all

Oh I'm so sorry PushmePullyou forgot to warble earlier:

"Happy Birthday to you!!" Hope you are having a fantastic day!! 33 is a terrific age!!! The thirties was my favourite decade so far ....Cake is DELICIOUS thank you ...[hands over glass of bubbly)

Oh it's great to see everyone back on here and full of enthusiasm.

Welcome back Dreamteam (sorry for the confusion about my new name btw) 'Tis brilliant about your family's reaction to your house - it somehow makes it more real when our nearest and dearest comment! (I haven't quite got there yet but am looking forward to the day!!) Don't let any possible digs get you down - you have done brilliantly - people (even loving, supportive relatives) tend not to like it when other's close to them makes changes for some reason ...don't let it get to you ...

Good luck tomorrow Elliepac. Apple bobbing takes me back ....And thanks for saying what you did about not getting my list done! (Very welcome words as only managed half - but better than nowt.)

Waves to Hellesbelles MiniMarmite WalktheD and to Pluto (lol about only being paranoid for October) - good luck with your short and long term goals ...

Flaps wings at PA in case you are within striking distance ...

Again, thanks for kind words everyone ...

Raises glass to Droitwitchmum - hope you have had a good w/e away -wishing you all best for November ...

G'night everyone and see you tomorrow.

MiniMarmite · 01/11/2009 19:02

Hi Ladies

Just taking a sneaky peek before I have to feed DS. He hasn't eaten anything much today because of his cough (although did make a temporary recovery when a scone appeared).

Last night DH and both did about 30 minutes housework in the evening so the downstairs floors were vacuumed and kitchen floor washed etc so felt much better by the time bedtime came.

Today, not much done but:
S&S
made beds
slow cooked chicken for dinner - which will also become chicken pie later in the week, made sauce for that
made stock from bones
DW loaded and loaded x 2 for some reason!
Folded a few bits of washing
did 2 loads of washing (well DH did)

Will shine sink later

(hmmm, can you guess that I'm using the cooking to make my list look like I've done something)!

Went for a walk and cream tea with our lovely neighbours.

Now planning to drink wine and make a list of urgent and important actions with DH.

Have a good evening everyone.

Intergalactic · 01/11/2009 19:08

Hello all! I have a vague idea of what FLYing is about but apart from that I'm new to this. Really need to sort my house out though, so I shall be joining you for baby steps tomorrow morning. Eek!

MiniMarmite · 01/11/2009 19:21

Welcome to Intergalactic

Oops, what I meant to say in my previous post before I started waffling on was that we could consider having two threads if the chat gets in the way of being able to find the tasks easily - one for chat and another where the leader/back-ups post the tasks and any other important announcements!

Just a thought, I don't mind either way. I do suffer a bit from reading, posting and then realising that I read the chat and not the tasks but that might just be me!

DTG maybe your Mum is feeling sad that you don't need her help anymore!

Thanks for the cake Pushme, it is yummy and surprisingly slimming (why can't all cake be this way)!

Really must go now...

dreamteamgirl · 01/11/2009 19:42

LMAO ellie- it sounds like MY car. Or at least my car was until DS started school in Sept and stopped being in it twice a day. Now my car is only half as bad as it was- it once took me a whole hour to clear it out well enough to transport my parents and their luggage to Gatwick

Nowadays that MERE 20 minute job... Gawd I am such a slob!! But as you say when you work out of car, its so hard

I can relate to the SAHM thing. I would be terrible at it, but it doesnt stop me yeraning for it ...

elliepac · 01/11/2009 19:48

Evening all, another quick look in here.

Welcome to INtergalactic . Look forward to 'seeing' you on here.

Cake was lovely Pushme, hope you've had a lovely day.

MM Hope DS's cough starts getting better soon.

Big waves to everyone else as am going to do my last job for the day before settling down for the x factor. Am determined to be good this month....full babysteps and decluttering...not at zone cleaning yet...there's always december

dreamteamgirl · 01/11/2009 19:49

Aww thanks SC and MM, I think you could be right

Thanks for the cake PMPY, very tasty!!

And a HUGE welcome to Intergalactic- do you have a short version of your name? We are all very lazy about typing more than 3 letters on here . Every person on this thread has been where you are right now, and everyone of us is doing better now. For today all you need to do is shine your sink

http://www.flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.asp Babystep one Go, shine and enjoy!!

elliepac · 01/11/2009 19:51

x-posts with dtg - jeez if i had to get it up to mother standard i'd still be there now

leeloo1 · 01/11/2009 19:52

Hurray, thanks for the advice - Hellipac, will give your way a try first!

I had a good cleaning day, but not sure I'm doing it right at all as I didn't set a timer (well unless you count cleaning til DS woke up from nap/yelled for attention), wear shoes (yuk to shoes in house) or do a current hot spot zone or whatever they're called. Can I be let off as a newbie and because at least some cleaning was done please?

But... ta-dah, I did manage to:

  • cut dead leaves off plants in kitchen and watered them (prob for 1st time properly done since DS was born in Oct 08 hence dead leaves)
  • emptied the most cluttered side in the kitchen and cleaned it
  • wiped sink
  • emptied dishwasher and have been trying to put all stuff in it, not in sink
  • folded dry laundry and put away, did more and tumbled it a bit then hung it to dry
  • cleaned the sink and end of bath while DS was having his bath
  • listed a few bits on ebay (decluttering!)

Hurray, feel like I got lots done, although this was definitely a motivated day for me.

MrsDinky · 01/11/2009 19:58

Hello, I'm going to join you this month. I was made redundant at the end of Sept and am now a SAHM, so a good time for a new start on the house. I lurked last month and have been shining my sink almost daily for a couple of weeks and I am on a huge decluttering mission which will probably take till Christmas but should be so worth it.

droitwitchmum · 01/11/2009 21:38

Hello fledglings!

Thank you to everyone who has looked after the newbies in my absence. Welcome aboard the November thread. Have we really got 50 messages on this thread already?

I hope there is cake and bubbly left for me though I'll pass on a newspaper if its ok with you HAG, its a bit late to get stuck into a Sunday supplement

Done nothing since I got home apart from cuddle DS (I was away without him or DH) and put a load in the washing machine. I'm starting my routine tomorrow rather than try to work out what needs to be done tonight. The house is pretty tidy so I just need to tackle a couple of hotspots tomorrow to sort it out.

This week's zone is the entrance/hall/dining room. I might just manage to sort through the mound of coats hanging up in the hall and the mountain of shoes (most of which are too small or need mending) by the end of the week.

Off to empty my case. See you in the morning!
