Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I'll also post Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm, making the coffee and brewing tea.

Good luck!

Good morning everyone! Coffee is brewing & tea is in the pot.

Here is where you will find details of this week's zone

Babystep for today is here. Don't forget to shine your sink as well

For those of you who are further along, today's mission is here

And if by some miracle your porch/hall/dining room are free from clutter the detailed cleaning list is here

Finally, as promised, here is today's Christmas mission (together with earlier ones - the fat fairy must have started in the middle of last month!) Feel free to ignore, if like me, you can't face the thought of Christmas yet.

My list for today
this morning:
dress to shoes (slippers!)
washing machine on done
breakfast now
empty DW
make lunch
get DS bags ready for school
get my bag ready
DS & DH up
wrap birthday present/write card & put in my bag
renew train pass

after work
ironing
15 mins declutter hall - coats I think
2 min hotspot dining table
bath DS
10 min room rescue - spare room
shine sink
bed

Those that are new to this - its up to you whether you post a list here or not. I find it useful and its ok to come back at the end of the day and 'confess' that nothing got done

Have a good day everyone. I'll check in this evening to see how you all got on.

OP posts:
elliepac · 02/11/2009 07:23

Morning all, just checking before go to work. BOOOOOOOOOO

I have had a revelation this morning. It is possible to do something in a morning other that sit in front of GMTV drinking coffee (thanks DWM). DH goes to work at 5.50 so I figured if I get up with him and use the extra 40 mins to do stuff (ie morning routine) I might be more successful. So this morning I have:-

1 load of washing done - to hang out in a min
1 load in tumble drier
DW loaded - to put on before leave for work
Beds made
Swish/Swipe done
Sink shined
Breakfast done
DS dressed, about to go do DD.

Tonight i will:-

Make dinner
Get swim shorts for DS who starts swimming lessons this week
Put dry washing away
Evening routine
Might do mission but will be dark when get home so may leave it
15 mins declutter in hallway.

Anyway, better go get ready. Have a good day everyone.

elliepac · 02/11/2009 07:24

walkthedinosaur · 02/11/2009 08:24

Morning all welcome to Intergalactic and Mrs Dinky.

Still half term here so I'm sat here in my PJ's drinking a cup of tea so my list for today is:-

Showered and dressed
Dust and polish in hallway
Stick washing in machine
Do my paid work when it comes in
Stop the DC's killing each other
Make something for dinner with left over chicken from yesterday (probably chicken pie it normally is).
Strip and wash DC's bedding

Think that's about it, other stuff will appear as and when I'm sure.

OK have a good one everybody! See you tonight.

optimisticmumma · 02/11/2009 08:27

Morning all!

Just flying in to say hi. I started to read missed posts but you girls have racked up 7 yes 7 pages since Wednesday!!!
Will try to catch up with all the news later but for now I have a training day to attend BOOOOOO (too hellipac) and a house that looks like a bomb has hit it!!

See you all later....

optimisticmumma · 02/11/2009 08:31

Meant to ask does anyone else have belt loops on their pants to hook a bag onto?
Am getting very bad picture....(see Christmas mission)

Intergalactic · 02/11/2009 09:11

Good morning everyone! I had a terrible night with teething last night so not full of energy today - hopefully baby steps will help me feel better. Have had a look at this week's zone and it's an easy start for me - I don't have a porch or a dining room so just the hall for me! I can start on the kitchen table (where we dine!) and surrounding clutter after that though.

Today I will also be loading the dishwasher, doing one load of laundry and putting some clean clothes away. Looking forward to doing the sink tonight when DS is in bed.

Intergalactic · 02/11/2009 09:13

To add - am posting on my phone at the mo but will catch up on the chat tonight when I can read a normal sized screen!

MrsDinky · 02/11/2009 09:38

Hello again,
Today I have taken DC to school and preschool
the rest is:

Washing - done
Sweep leaves from round front door - done
Give something away on Freecycle - done
Empty and clean kitchen bin - done
Hang out washing
Put DW on
Clean kitchen floor and hoover carpets
Go to tip
Sainsburys
Take stuff to charity shop
Tidy hall
Shred some old letters
Advertise more stuff on Freecycle
Find a new cash ISA that pays more tnan 0.01% interest

Better go and get busy

havingagiraffe · 02/11/2009 09:41

Good Morning Flyers, especially the newbies - hope you've shined your sink - I haven't , but I do have a plan for the day and have started already

Make bed done
Clean bathrooms
Nappies on to wash done
5 min room rescue on lounge
Dust and hoover lounge
Clear breakfast things

all this before taking DS swimming and then I will tackle the mission and some de-cluttering in the dining room this afternoon.

Ellie Hope your first day back is not too demanding. A week is just not long enough really is it.

PMPY Well, how does it feel? Do you feel older? Hope you had a lovely day.

MM You are so organised. I would do white wine and slump in front of tele - you are still making lists.

DTM So I'm not the only one whose mother makes back-handed compliments. Her favourite over the last few months has been "You've lost alot of your baby weight....now all you need to do is sort the tummy area out" Why can't she just say the first bit and then be quiet.

DWM Welcome back. Excellent that you didn't fly but cuddled DS instead - the right decision. Do I even dare look at the Christmas mission. Knowing Flylady it'll be something barftastic like making table decorations from pine cones for precious loved ones.

Need to leave in an hour and a half so me thinks I need to get a move on.

positiveattitudeonly · 02/11/2009 10:22

Good Morning ladies.

Well, I am back again and have tried to do a quick catch up on all the news I have missed, but you are all so busy, that I have just flicked through quickly.
I've had a good time away and am now back at work (oh, well mumsnetting from work counts, doesn't it? )

I see I am not the only one back from travels, but I was to see someone had arrived back yesterday and unpacked already! Mine is still either in the back of the car or thrown in the hallway, where I found the cats playing through it all this morning.

OM - You made me laugh at the bit about the loops on pants. I thought this thread had descended into naughtiness in my absence, following on from the last one. I just had to look it up, even though I do not utter the C word, or anything connected to it before December 1st. Pants is the American trousers, which brings it all back to the realms of "fat fairy" normality! - ish!!!!

Welcome to all the new ladies on here, I've noticed leeloo1, Mrs Dinky, Intergalactic, and apologies to anyone else I have missed.

Elliepac - Its great to get up and organised early, but I do find that when I do that I need lunch by 10am!!

MM - hope DS is feeling better, enjoy the cuddles if he needs some TLC today.
Waves to CA DWM DTG HAG (can I call you HA cos HAG sounds awful?) PMPY (Very dubious initials, so I will go back to Mrs Doolittle if you don't mind?)

Right, I need some advice from you lot! I have to get my head around having the builders arrive tomorrow for the next 5 weeks. Panic has sort of set in as I have not had time to think this through. How on earth am I going to be able to keep the house presentable when I have builders and builders dust everywhere. We have a sort of open plan house downstairs, so dust cannot be contained where they are working! Normally, i totally give up on housework until it is all over with and then do a mammoth clean, but I don't really want to do that this time. Does anyone have any tips? We have one lounge that we can shut off, but the kitchen, Dining room, front lounge, hallway and study are all going to be open to the work. We are having a wet room put in, so will be worth it all, but I am dreading it all as I have memories of dust on dinner plates and never being able to clean properly for the duration in the past. Any experience and tips would be appreciated. Thanks. (no comments about sexy builders bodies, he's a good friend of ours, so don't want to look!)

Oh, as you may have guessed I have some absolutely nothing since being home, but need to prepare for builders tonight, so nothing else will get done, either. Washbins have disappeared under mount everest again,(or mount vesuvius, as it is now errupting on to landing!) and that is before I open our suitcases!

positiveattitudeonly · 02/11/2009 10:25

Just to add, I read Fat fairy's Christmas mission as "Cursing through the holiday" Oops -I see I should stop cursing and be cruising! - that's where I go wrong, obviously!

StillCounting · 02/11/2009 14:24

Hello everyone [CTGG here under new-ish name], checking in really late as start of half-term hols here so took dd out to the park for a bit of bicycle-riding, leaf-catching and a "picnic" today ...

This thread is moving so fast, can barely keep up, but just wanted to say:

Thank you for posting steps Droitwitch (including Christmas ones, although I daren't quite look at that yet!!) Hope you had a good w/e away.

"Yay, welcome back PA!! Good luck with the laundry mountain. My house is a permanent building site but I'm not sure I am the best person to give advice as it always ends up a mess however hard I try and contain it! I studiously cover the doors with plastic sheets and masking tape but somehow the dust always finds its way in. It does work better though if you cover individual storage units such as cupboards, chests of drawers and book cases and keep the plastic sheets taped down. That way you are saved detailed cleaning later on ...Good luck and wishing you courage!!

Welcome to Intergalactic and MrsDinkie - the main thing to remember is to take it steady ... just baby steps and/or 15 mins decluttering a day ....

Waves to everyone else!!

Still working my way through yesterday's list

shine sink done twice!
do rest of morning routinedone twice!
sort laundry in to loads
start laundry (address urgent underwear deficit!)
sweep play dough bits up from under dining room table before they are trodden all over the housedone
tidy up generally sitting room, master bedroom and bathroomdone
sort out bedding and beds
empty two laundry baskets full of "stuff" that got shoved in to office prior to visitor's arrival
make ratatouille to go with dinner tonightdone

Yes, laundry is still my nemisis ..... we'll have no clean underwear at all at this rate if I don't descend to the bowels and get stuck in ...

Hope everyone is having a good day!

tibni · 02/11/2009 15:29

Hello all,

Im still about

I spent this morning xmas shopping and have managed to pick up some more gifts.

I have a bit of a xmas control journal going on and I am really trying to get organised.

dh just gone self employed which is adding to the chaos in the household!

managed to do morning routine, have washed all the downstairs carpets and I'm going to go and wipe the front door down now before ds taxi brings him home ffrom school.

Will try and catch up on all the news later.

Sleepisnotoptional · 02/11/2009 18:21

Hey all,

so hope you had a good birthday yesterday PMPY
Welcome leeloo1, MrsDinky and intergalatic

Havent done much
but car is tidier it was is such a state the mechanic had to clear it before he could fix the broken catches on the seats. He is a miracle worker who has turned my car around exceptional quick time at a reasonable price for the work and has gone above and beyond in tackling the chaos that is my car contents (actually it is a bit yuck generally).

PLan tonight is to sort lesson plans. And figure out how to sort my class who wear disinclined to listen so have no idea what we did today. Need to tweak my starter to give them what they need to know. Lovely kids but first lesson teaching them and they found the topic difficult. Got them tomo.

Flying saved me this morning as everything was to hand whilst rushing to get out. It was a life saver.

DEM.

Pluto · 02/11/2009 19:43

sleepisnotoptional hope first day back in term 2 was OK bar the chatty class. You are frightening me wth your talk of starters - and I'm not going back until mid Jan. Actually, the c/m is taking lo off my hands for a good stint tomorrow so I have a choice: start getting my head round the reading I need to do for work, or enjoy some of my own reading for pleasure. Houseworkisnotanoption could be my new name

Got all my things done today so feeling quite smug. My legs are killing me as I decided to begin the couch to 5k running programme yesterday. (Not quite the official version - it's on the runners world site).

OK, I'm off to find out what the fat fairy says we need to do to get ready for Xmas. Is it really awful?

MiniMarmite · 02/11/2009 19:46

Evening All

I had to go to work early today leaving DS and DH at home so I've not been on yet today (although I did have a quick peek whilst at work but couldn't post).

Needless to say I have only done the early morning basics today (S&S, make bed) but DH and DS have managed to make lots of mess in the hallway today - they must have known it was this week's zone

TBH I think they've had a hard day - DS has croup and DH has spent much of the day trying to sort out a drs appointment, medicine and general keeping DS happy.

Welcome back PA, I don't have any advice re the building work except do what you can and try not to worry to much about it. As SC says I imaging covering as many surfaces as you can will help a lot.

Off to try and do a few things. Have a good evening and talk tomorrow.

Shoppingveggie · 02/11/2009 20:02

Hello everyone sneaking in again

Not read thread yet, but wanting to get this damn house organised and clean!

Sleepisnotoptional · 02/11/2009 20:25

Stop sneaking in. procrastination is not your friend. The babysteps are. they have saved me already this week.

I have loved being back at school. It has been a rough half term and just glad to have the structure of the school day to focus me. Ds on the other hand is currently walking about with toothpaste in his hair, and refusing to get into pjs

Sleepisnotoptional · 02/11/2009 20:36

Just remembered why the fat fairy is so early with her holiday journal. She is american and there is that big thing called thanks giving between know and christmas.

In that light take a breath hold and breath easy. Not need to panic cos the fat one seems to have started early. She has extra work to do

havingagiraffe · 02/11/2009 20:57

SINO Brilliant I can stop thinking about xmas then. Although I will have to deal with it at some point I suppose. I do have an idea for one of DP's gifts so I could get it and then at least I will have started.

I really must get off to bed. Have been trying to curl up with my book for about a week and no matter what time I do DS wakes up - in fact he just did but I settled him in 30 secs [smug/ninga mummy emoticon]

but I had to tell you all.....

....cleaned my front door today and I must say it looks fab. (Damn fat fairy is right again)

droitwitchmum · 02/11/2009 21:36

Evening everyone - the wine is open!elliepac welcome to early mornings. That extra half an hour can make a huge difference especially if no one small is up
Pluto well done on getting everything done today - feels great doesn't it, although I won't manage today. Running?! V impressed and a bit too!
wtd hope you enjoyed your first day of half term. Remember it is time off for you as well as DCs
OM I'm pleased to report NO belt loops on my pants thank you!
InterG (is that ok?)hope the teething is better tonight. You only have to do babysteps so hopefully that will be manageable even with terrible sleep. Don't beat yourself up though if it is too much. Just keep popping back. We're good at sympathy and we've all been there.
MrsD impressive list! Hope you achieved everything you wanted to today. If not, there's always tomorrow
HAG well done on yor front door. Not managed mine and it was very dark when I got home tonight so will save that mission for the weekend
PAO I only took 1 small bag so it only took 2 mins to empty. ROFL at cursing through the holidays. Sorry cannot offer any advice about builders but do pop in for large amounts of wine at the end of the day!
SC your picnic. I managed quick sandwich at my desk while deleting loads of e-mails!
Good to see you tibni! V impressed with Christmas control journal.
SINO thanks for the thanksgiving reminder and you are right - the babysteps are lifesavers in the morning. Love the image of DS with toothpaste in his hair!
MM hope DS is improving. I think we can forgive some disorder if he has croup
Shoppingveggie be brave and jump in! You know you want to[wink. You could have some order by Christmas...
If I have missed anyone I'm sorry but lots of waving!

OK my list for today
dress to shoes done

OP posts:
Jumbs · 02/11/2009 21:43

Hello all. This is my first post for Nov, and I'm shocked to realise its the end of the second day already!

I won't be posting daily lists as I don't get on the net until this time of night as DS1 is 2yrs 4months and DS2 is 6 months so only get time to come on here if by some miracle they nap at the same time.

I will be trying to do my babysteps though and 15 mins declutter. Must confess though, dishwasher isn't emptied and sink still has loads of washing up draining on it. Am annoyed OH hasn't noticed DW needs doing and so will wait to see if he will do it before work tomoro

I did swish but not swipe today (if swish is the sink and swipe the loo!). Do you guys really put old shampoo in your toilets brushes as the fat fairy says, or do you just put conventional toilet cleaner down, or no cleaner?
