Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I'll also post Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm, making the coffee and brewing tea.

Good luck!

Sneaks in to give th thread a clean whilst everyone else is still restful.

DWM - i am getting up at 5am to do lesson prep as cant get it done with ds running about and wanting deserved attention in the evening. Happened to be finished and ready to leave half an hour before needed to be so grabbed the opportunity. It is not a normality to be baking in the morning. Well not yet anyway.

The tax office can ask to see up to 7 years of statements. This is why most people keep them for seven years. I have either 7 or 5 for bank statements and reciepts of big items. Anything else I keep until i have checked off against my bank statements (soon to be monthly activity) then shred.

Puts kettle on on way out.

elliepac · 04/11/2009 06:30

Morning all,

Have had a quick catch up but it sounds as if everyone had a fabulous day yesterday. Go us!

MM hope DS is feeling better soon.

SINO fairy cakes before school . I am super impressed.

DTG i think your DS is a genius because i have tried with my DS (6) and it's just not happening!

PA enjoy your magic duster

Pluto hope the ironing didn't get you on the way to bed

MrsD thank you...and it is lovely to hear that you are feeling welcome

Waves to OM, WTD SC Jumbs, DWM, hells PMPY and anyone else I have missed (sorry).

This morning thing is still working for me. This morning I have:-

elliepac · 04/11/2009 06:33

x-posts with SINO - thanks for cleaning the thread...we were looking a little dirty

Forgot to put coffee on, so it is now percolating nicely and tea is brewing, help yourself.

droitwitchmum · 04/11/2009 06:45

Thanks DTG I knew someone on here would know! Just need to unearth the shredder from the depths of the garage.

Good morning fledglings! Coffee is on, tea in pot

Today's babystep is here

Today's mission: 'Today take a look at the walls and the windows in your dining room. Grab some cleaner and a cloth and go after the finger prints and smudges that those mysterious little elves seem to leave behind as they run through your house when no one is looking! Be careful with the walls as not to rub too hard to remove paint if you have a flat finish.'
Apologies to the Flylady but the mission on the website is wrong for the second day running. This is the one which has been e-mailed to me in today's digest.

The Christmas Mission is here

My list for today:
breakfast
dressed
make lunch
DH up (DS has already appeared)
pay bill

after work
s&s
mission
sort shoes in hall
put washing away
hotspots - computer desk and DS table
bag up jumble in spare room
shine sink

Everyone had a really good day yesterday with some very impressive lists. Make sure you don't burn out! If you are new you only need to do babysteps unless you feel you want to do more

Have a good day everyone

Gotta go in a few minutes but it helps for me to post on here.

This morning
Unload dishwasher
morning routine

Ater work:
ironing (turning into Everest again)
paperwork
sort out diary (too much in my head, not enough written down!)
Supper (Tesco's-ahh)

Have a good day all...

Big wave to everyone on the thread!

positiveattitudeonly · 04/11/2009 09:09

Morning all.

Feeling a little groggy this morning. Self induced so no sympathy please!

Left for work with magic wand duster in hands to much laughter from my DCs. - I have been threatened with mutany if I am actually seen by anyone under the age of 21!

Have a disgusting taste in my mouth, not sure if it is the wine excess or the dust. Strong coffee to sort me out please!

I can smugly say that I have already put in my third lot of washing this morning!
Dishwasher empty.
Surfaces cleaned of dust(again!!!!!!! done last thing last night too!)
Beds made
Swished and swiped
Just about to magic dust my office!

I am chuffed so far, so GO ME!!!!

Can't we train those elves who leave finger prints to do some work, like in the elves and the shoemaker story. But then again, my elves are not invisible, they are huge, fridge emptying, mess making teenagers!

Have a good day all.

positiveattitudeonly · 04/11/2009 09:11

Sorry posted too quick!

Big wave to everyone on here - you are all keeping me sane (ish)

walkthedinosaur · 04/11/2009 09:29

PAO My sympathies with the building work, after living on a building site for the last 4 years I know exactly where you're coming from. My solution has always been to bury my head in the dust and not let anyone in through the front door

This morning I have:-
Showered and dressed and done the school run - the little darlings are back yay, although they were having pirate battles at 7.00 this morning I was not happy.
Done supermarket shop
Loaded DW and remembered to turn it on
Cleared 100's of dinosaurs out of bath and cleaned it (too lazy/tired)last night
Checked and emailed yesterday's work
Swished and Swiped

To do:-

Having taken inspiration from you lovely ladies last week I have a day off work and am planning on making my christmas cake and any other goodies while the oven is on.

Will try and flick a duster over the dining room but I'm excited about a baking day.

Firstly though, a coffee and some toast and watch last night's Ugly Betty with my feet up on the dusted and polished coffee table.

Pluto · 04/11/2009 09:35

WTD thanks for the reminder - I need to put my d/w on - loaded before school run but its still waiting for me to flick the on switch.

Little DS has a very runny nose so depite my super organised bag packing last night I think we'll have to skip swimming this morning. I am trying to fly in between bouts of snot wiping. May not get much done today but not too worried as house looks Okish...apart from the white peaks of ironing in the upstairs room...I'm shutting the door on that until DS has a long enough sleep for me to tackle it properly.

Have a good day everyone.

dreamteamgirl · 04/11/2009 10:05

Thanks for the tea SINO

I too was up before DS- only 20 mins, but it meant I was showered dressed and face on before he woke up (especially as I had of course laid out my clothes last night)
The morning thing does work. Its just soooo hard to do LOL

Havent doen owt else cos I feel snotty with itchy red eyes and a blocked throat YUCH!

DWM thanks for posting- I deleted my weekly one and was irritated. What was yesterday's mission BTW?

POA Lets blame the dust! Hope things settle soon (See what I did there?) Joking aside I hate living in chaos (both the acronym and regular kind) so I know how you feel.

Waves to everyone else

dreamteamgirl · 04/11/2009 18:15

Where are you all?

Missions are up to date now on website
I emailed and complained and got some lovely messages back from them

Here they are for anyone that missed yesterday's too missions

How has everyone done today?

MiniMarmite · 04/11/2009 19:01

Hi All

DTG - where is everyone? We've all been doing housework all day . Well I am sure everyone except me has everyone seems to be doing spectacularly well at the moment despite all the coughs etc that seem to be going around! Although I have just spent about 15 minutes cleaning courgette off the table, highchair and floor! Sorry you aren't feeling so good by the way. Your son's appreciation of hotspots got a huge 'aaaaah' from me!

I didn't think I was going to do any decluttering done last night but, motivated by the Heart Foundation request, I managed to get together a bag of nearly new things to take to the shop (which I did this morning before going to the supermarket). Not all from the right zone but never mind!

Slightly worried about my bank statements now. Ever since internet banking took off I've thrown the paper ones away after a year...hope this is ok!

DH and I were meant to be going out for dinner tonight but I didn't want to leave DS in case he woke up coughing again. To be honest I don't really mind as I have a headache and could do with an early night.

Now I just have to see if I can persuade DH to watch Spooks!

Shoppingveggie · 04/11/2009 19:12

Hi everyone

Again, apologies for not reading all the posts on this thread.

Been busy today, but got depressing as I realised just how much deep cleaning I need to do round the house .

Also, realised how much we need to decorate - our hallway is full of hand marks and when I really scrubbed hard the paint started to come off!

Anyway, baby steps ....

And well done to you all.

optimisticmumma · 04/11/2009 19:23

Hi MM and DTG - just managed to get online.
Must confess to having not done my list today - yet.
My morning routine was disrupted by my 12 y o DS dropping a hot bowl of porridge all over the floor!!! We just stood and looked at it and thought ' we have 9 minutes until we have to go' EEK!
It's actually nigh on impossible to clear up hot porridge in a hurry but we did it! Just!As someone at work said it was a good job it didn't land on him too!!

So the evening I've had to give the floor a
proper mop...

Anyway - now I need to get going.

Hugs to all the ill ones - hope you feel better soon.

It's my turn I think to open the wine, dish out the nibbles and offer lemsip to anyone who needs it!

optimisticmumma · 04/11/2009 19:25

X posts Shopping veggie - don't despair. I'm sure your house looks better than it did!! Have some wine!!

walkthedinosaur · 04/11/2009 19:38

Evening everyone, have you all been busy today. No housework done but Christmas cake has been made tra laa!

Took DC's to the library and did homework with DS1.

But today have had a pleasant day off work, had a nice cup of tea and a chat with my friend this afternoon and a lovely long natter tonight with my friend back in the UK. So now I'm going to crack open the wine and watch some TV.

See you all in the morning when I'm back to work full time

droitwitchmum · 04/11/2009 20:06

Just a quick pop in to check on you all - when I peeked in at work all I found was wtd on another thread!

SINO and ellie thanks for the company in the mornings! Much appreciated.
PAO how was the duster?
wtd you have done more than you realised - heaps done this morning and Christmas cake made
Pluto hope you managed to get something done, even if it was 'just' babysteps
dtg thanks for sorting out flylady - brave woman
MM Heart Foundation must be really pleased with your decluttering
shoppingveggie you are doing just fine. My entire house needs redecorating but there is no point until it has been decluttered - a babystep at a time!
OM thanks for getting the wine AND nibbles out. Porridge on the floor - yuk!

Hey - new emoticon - vvvv excited!!!!

Going to calm down, put DS to bed and do some decluttering. Back later for wine.......

MrsDinky · 04/11/2009 20:58

Hi Everyone,
Not much done today, mainly drinkingteawithfriends quality time with DD. Computer not on until after dark (if I put it on while DCs are around they badger me relentlessly to play on it), therefore fingerprint removal postponed till tomorrow, patio doors are particularly bad. DS (5) came into the room at about 6pm and said "if the weather is nice tomorrow I'm going to cut the grass", bless him, wish his Dad had been there to get the hint. Tomorrow I'm home alone all day, so no excuses.

Tonight - general tidying plus more shredding, also thoughts on how to file the last 7 years worth sensibly along with all the other essential paperwork.

One more thing about bank statements, it's fine using the online ones, but look out if you change your account to another bank, chances are you will lose access to your statements and they can charge you through the nose if you then want paper copies.

Sleepisnotoptional · 04/11/2009 22:00

I have ring binders for each tax year and have dividers for bank a, savings x (0.1p) saving y (£5) (or other silly amounts, Credit cards, store cards, phone bills and important reciepts/warentees. I have a seperate loans file and an archive file for the warantees for things older then 7 years for items i still have. Also have a general file for any agreements i have made previously. Its a lot of files done this year and you might be better with lever arch for each topic which year dividers in it (eg labelled this year, 1yr ago, 2yrs ago etc) such that the most you have to do is to move dividers as necessary.

Hope this is of some help.

We went digital today and my tv has now developed a horrific hiss and ds' latest explosion means the important bit of paper on it has gone missing. Must hunt for that so i can ring the techs to get rid of the hiss. NOT happy about it TV is only about 1yr old and supposed to be digit friendly. This hiss is NOT friendly.

Sorry for odd shouts not getting the bold thing tonight tired. why is it i find the year 7 everyone loves a nightmare and the year 8 that are challenging delightful and enjoyable to teach? go figure. Good reoprts today new stuff to focus on. Need to discover improvment on house now. role on weekend and resolution to paper creation and filing so i can discover dining table.

MiniMarmite · 04/11/2009 22:22

Evening Ladies

Thanks for the reassurance about bank statements MrsDinky and good point about moving bank.

Gosh, SINO that sounds so organised. DH made me a folder for all my official correspondence years ago and nags me from time to time to actually put things in it . Not my forte I'm afraid. I can tell you what I am going to have for dinner next Friday but I'm just not sure where I put that bank statement that arrived yesterday!

Thanks for the wine OM. Virtual wine only this evening!

Hope you are feeling better SC - sorry I know this approximates to sympathy but I just can't help it!

Ellie - what about Malcolm?! My favourite character! Won't say anymore in case anyone is planning to catch up on Iplayer.

As for housework -

DS is well enough to be going to the CM tomorrow and I am working from home so there will be no excuse for not catching up with a few things.

Sleepisnotoptional · 04/11/2009 22:42

The filing bit is a problem and i have a very large pile to file when i eventually get round to it. I have a bag where i temporarily shove them ready for filing. Personally i cant do the dinner thing, if i dont fancy something i cant eat it so it tends to be standard stuff to pick and choose from.

citybranch · 04/11/2009 22:51

Hello flyers, please may I join you? I've read some FlyLady and will read more tomorrow. I really need to get myself sorted indoors.

Have just shined my sink and it looks lovely!

Shoppingveggie · 04/11/2009 22:59

Thank you to Optimisticmumma, DWM and Elliepac for your kind words and encouragement!

I am working for the next two days so won't be around much on here, or actually doing much around the house, but will do babysteps and try to look in.

Have a good few days everyone

and SC P E D I C U R E

MrsDinky · 04/11/2009 23:13

SINO Yes, a file per tax year is what I was thinking, I already do this for all my tax credit/nursery bills/payslips etc. I also keep separate files for bills, the car, work stuff, etc my trouble is I just keep filing it when really, stuff like credit card and utility bills you probably should keep for a year or so, but once I've shoved them in a file they just accumulate forever. Sighs.

In the midst of all this filing, I have found tons of old personal letters, I am quite amazed by the volume of letters I received and presumably had written, in the days before the internet. It has been lovely re-reading them and made me wonder if I'll be re-reading emails in 20 years time, probably not.
