Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I'll also post Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm, making the coffee and brewing tea.

Good luck!

Just marking the place for my return.

See you all next week. No talk of Bunnies, ducks, cowpats or playboys in my lounge allowed on here!

havingagiraffe · 27/10/2009 10:55

Morning ladies

I'm back, sorry I've been neglecting you but was at Center Parcs since Friday and was so disorganised before that didn't have time to post....or was it that I was too

Haven't read everything I've missed as would not get any flying done for November either if I did.

However, I go away for a few days and when I get back it's suddenly Christmas - how on earth did that happen?! OM Bet your kitchen still smells gorgeous. Half term is the traditional time for pudding making in our house too.

tibni realised the morning that it's my BF's birthday and I haven't got her anything so have decided my Control Journal is going to have to include a list of birthdays in month order. Like you mine is mainly lists of things to do atm, but am trying to write my weekly routine as I go.

PA Good luck away again, didn't catch if chaos reigned while you were away. Ironing --- aaaarrrggghhh - hate it!! It's just so Groundhog day.

CTGG Hello, glad you are surviving your house guest. I guess a good looking plumber brightens anyone's day - still make a mess though!

Hellipac How sweet of your nephew. Can't wait until my neices are big enough for babysitting, they are 8 & 6 and were with us at the w/e. DN2 is OBSESSED with DS, which is lovely, she was even happy to put cream on his little red bottom. However, she has given him her cold so snot is a big feature in my life atm.

DWM You are so organised thinking of November already. Christmas missions ! OMG - really - I am in big trouble I think.

Big waves to everyone else.

Right need to get on as DP let me lie until 8:30 in so breakfast and bathroom routine done during DS's nap - eek - behind already!

We are starting our lounge renovation/decoration this week so I guess a bit of decluttering in there will be in order. DP sledgehammering off the fireplace - oh the dust!!

Pass the coffee - I sure do need it.

nightmareteamgirl · 27/10/2009 16:46

Just marking my spot and going back to the Oct thread
(Where talk of bunnies in POA's lounge IS permitted)

FullMooniMarmite · 27/10/2009 18:51

Evening Ladies, thanks for the lovely new thread DWM, just marking my spot(less) for November...

helliepac · 27/10/2009 19:03

ooh where to post, where to post. SHall mark my place and then post on October....about bonking bunnies

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 27/10/2009 20:46

Shining my spot for November.

Jumbs · 27/10/2009 21:03

Right, I was coming on to confess my lack of progress on babysteps for October. I fell off the wagon on day 10. Would like to blame going away/illness etc but think it has more to do with my taking "declutter for 15 mins" to read "sit on sofa with cuppa and watch murder, she wrote"

I'm trying to do a bit of decluttering every day now and am still shining my sink, so some very small babysteps achieved for Oct.

Must try harder for nov, if you see me slouching on the sofa please give me a prod with my broomstick, or since it will be November, put a rocket under me!

droitwitchmum · 27/10/2009 21:40

Welcome back Jumbs! At least you are still shining your sink

helliepac · 28/10/2009 06:13

Welcome back Jumbs, nice to 'see' you. Please don't feel bad about falling off the wagon. I am nowhere near fully completing the babysteps and I've been going for two months . Anyway, murder she wrote i a quality programme .

helliepac · 28/10/2009 06:14

sorry, it's early. That should say 'is a quality programme'

walkthedinosaur · 28/10/2009 09:48

Marking my spot for take off in November

LongtimeinBrussels · 28/10/2009 10:21

New on here and will be away beginning of November but this is just so I don't forget!

DEMlostandtired · 29/10/2009 20:37

Parks a mop and bucket in corner ready for flying in november.

droitwitchmum · 30/10/2009 19:58

Hello fledglings!

I'm posting the link to the first babystep now as I'm going away for the weekend and will not be back until Sunday night.

Remember that Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest so babystep only if you are new to this/starting again. For those who are further along there are no missions at the weekend so you can put your feet up

Day 1 baby step

See you on Monday with your sinks gleaming!

Gathers togeher shoe laces, microfibre cloths, tins of metal polish and awaits start of November thread ...

Hope you are having a lovely w/e away Droitwitch

leeloo1 · 31/10/2009 12:24

Can I be a half-hearted flyer please? I'd love to have a clean sparkling house but when it comes to motivation I suffer and would far rather lie on sofa eating cookies watching murder she wrote! But I did lurk and manage to clean/shine my sink for a few weeks in October.

Quick question though, how do you find which posts are new in these long fledgling flyer posts? I stopped reading them cos I couldn't find the new ones...

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 16:23

Hi Leeloo

Welcome to the November Flying Thread. Our esteemed leader Droitwitchmum is away over-night but will be back tomorrow. In the meantime, if you check in at the beginning of each day (around 7-8am in the morning UK time) then you will find the new "instructions" for that day. The new steps will be posted to synchronise with the date ie Step 1 for 1st Nov, Step 2 for 2nd Nov etc etc (there are 31 steps to establish the basic "Flying" system).

And in her typically efficient manner, Droitwitch has already posted "baby-step 1" for tomorrow 1st November plus a link to background Flying details below. Suggest you have a look at that and see how you get on.

Sorry if all the "chat" is a bit off-putting!! I can understand how it would seem that way when you first check in here, but you will find us all really wierd and obsessed with strange cleaning rituals friendly on here!! Just get stuck in!! You are very welcome!

PS About being half-hearted ....none of us are perfect, we are all just doing what we can, with the motivation of one another, small step by very small step each day. Seriously, this is the way the system is designed. No "all or nothing" thinking or getting bogged down in perfectionism. Just small, consistent, focused steps ....and you have already started!!

FullMooniMarmite · 31/10/2009 18:53

MiniMarmite reporting for duty!

Welcome Leeloo and Jumbs and anyone else that's joining us this month.

leeloo1 · 31/10/2009 21:54

Hi Countingthegreyghouls, thanks for the advice - good to know I won't be kicked out for not being keen enough!

Sorry, I wasn't complaining about all the chatty bits - its nice that everyone is friends - its just when there are hundreds of posts on 1 thread I couldn't work out how to find the most recent ones, so I wondered if there was a trick to it... Is that still as clear as mud?

Jumbs · 31/10/2009 21:55

Evening. Just getting ready for the off! Need to shine sink but might wait until tomorrow!

Plan of attack for November for me: I get flustered when deciding which of my many hotspots to tackle, and where to start decluttering. So, this month I'm going to tackle hotspots and declutter in whatever the current zone is. Well, thats the plan anyway...

To give you energy to get going I've made some cupcakes with DS1s choc buttons on top!

havingagiraffe · 01/11/2009 10:12

Welcome Leeloo Starting with the babysteps is not too taxing but really important. This is now month 3 for me and they're still not second nature.

CTGG or is it CTGH again now halloween is over. I obviously missed the fact that DWM is looking after us now. Thanks for all your motivating posts - you will still be here though won't you?

DWM Good luck keeping the unruly bunch in order.

OK - deep breath everyone. Let's get started on November (eeek-xmas!!)

New month, new start for me. Have been rubbish the last couple of weeks so am getting back on it. Although DP and I did start de-cluttering the attic room on Friday which felt great.

My list for the day

Shine sink
Swish & swipe done
Load DW and put on done
Ironing (Oh god it's going to join together and eat me it's so mountainous)
Make bed done
Cook roast lunch
Pack swimming stuff for tomorrow
2 min hotspot - occasional table
Sort home insurance

havingagiraffe · 01/11/2009 10:16

BTW am making coffee and as it's Sunday will provide a range of papers too -enjoy

Sleepisnotoptional · 01/11/2009 10:34

yes please hag, I had a nasty shock when trying to sign in earlier and thought i might have to do some cleaning.. ...on a sunday...

very glad its working again.

Have temporary name at the mo as it describe life for me at the mo and is how i am feeling.
DEM.

StillCounting · 01/11/2009 11:53

Morning all, just checking in and - hope Droitwitch doesn't mind - just thought I would respond to a few posts until her return tonight/tomorrow morning

(BTW fancied new name for shiny new thread)

Thanks for much needed coffee HAG - and for papers which I will peruse later once I've shined my sink. Must confess to a VERY late start today ....

HAG - remember you are really NOT allowed to say you are doing rubbish and well done on your flying start this month and on the attic on Friday. I was going to sink in to apathy today but having seen your list you have now got me motivated, so "thank you"!!:

So today I will:

shine sink
do rest of morning routine
sort laundry in to loads
start laundry (address urgent underwear deficit!)
sweep play dough bits up from under dining room table before they are trodden all over the house
tidy up generally sitting room, master bedroom and bathroom
sort out bedding and beds
empty two laundry baskets full of "stuff" that got shoved in to office prior to visitor's arrival
make ratatouille to go with dinner tonight

It would be so tempting to leave all this until tomorrow (start of half-term hols here) but that would be going back to my old wicked ways (and for the sake of an hour and a bit's work it's just orth the stress that will result when even more clutter piles up tomorrow and I realise things are starting to get out of control again)

Leeloo1 - oh no offence taken at all - these threads do move very fast and consequently are difficult to follow sometimes. Is my explanation clear about checking in early every morning for that day's step? As HavingaG explains, the baby-steps are the foundation to this system. Droitwitchmum has posted step one (the one to do today) below together with some background info. If you check in here early tomorrow morning, you will find Step 2 waiting for you. don't worry, you don't have to understand the entire system before you start, just get stuck in and all will become clear... Having said that, do feel free to ask further questions though ... everyone is very good at helping one another out and answering queries here. Good luck with shining your sink today!

Jumbs - about being flustered - I know EXACTLY what you mean. So many things were out of control in my house before I started flying that everything was urgent and I was like a rabbit in headlights trying to work out which to prioritise first. Well, honestly, the good news is that you can take a deep breath and relax. As the Fat Fairy says herself "you are never behind with Flylady" because all the routines come around and around again on a monthly basis, and if you don't get to finish one thing completely on one day, there will be another opportunity coming up. To declutter for 15 mins a day in the current zone is a good strategy. Just following the baby steps (I think hot-spots are introduced on day 6) is a good start though. I'll have one of those cup-cakes when I've finished my list thanks ....

SleepisnotOptional/DEM - sorry you are feeling low at the moment - [hands over second cup of coffee] tthere's nothing more demoralising than sleep deprivation - take it steady x

Right, must rally myself ...

See you later everyone ...
